View Full Version : Unit Preview - UpGunned Reaver Titan
muffins Jun 21, 2004, 10:07 PM I've finished the model modifications for my UpGunned Reaver Titan and I'm ready to animate.
I've removed the rocket launcher and chainfist and replaced them with a plasma gun and an autocannon.
I've also replaced the head and shoulder armour with the Reaver alternitives
If you guys want me to alter the model then tell me before I start to animate :D
muffins Jun 21, 2004, 10:09 PM Here's a close-up of the new parts. Like I said, if you really don't like any part of the model then say so. If you prefer the old head then I'll replace it :goodjob:
See the autocannon gun barrels? They spin when they fire :D

I've done the walk animations but need suggestions about how I'm going to animate the weapons, especially the plasma gun.
I was thinking of fireing the thing on maximum mode instead of sustained mode (slow build-up then POW!). Anyone got any ideas?

ripptide Jun 22, 2004, 07:38 PM Just a suggestion muffins, but if you're using 3DMax you may want to try something with the lens effects filters in video post. that way you can apply an "electrical discharge" kind of look to the plasma gun

muffins Jun 22, 2004, 08:44 PM I've got OpenFX but it has a very similar effect. I was thinking of having parts of the plasma gun glow an electric blue, then a hot red, before discharging a great big blob of plasma.
WS78 - I've never seen a Titan armed with a grenade thrower before. :confused: Being a Titan, the grenades would have to be the sizes of cars :lol:

Goldflash Jun 22, 2004, 10:04 PM Or, I could fire small gernades in auto-fire from a slighty larger Auto Cannon :D I mean, its our uit, so it doesn't have to be 100% Warhammer accurate
muffins Jun 23, 2004, 12:14 AM Attack1 and Attack2 are done. The autocannon barrels spin but you can hardly see them.
I'm also planning on only having the plasmagun mounted on the back in civ-colours ... it'll make things easier (palette-wise)when I do the death explosions (can't have red explosions with red civ-colours :) )

muffins Jun 23, 2004, 12:19 AM I've also noticed a really stupid palette error I made with my first Reaver. I'll fix this too when I update the original Reaver (Wednesday night or Thursday perhaps)

A Viking Yeti Jun 23, 2004, 12:50 AM I didn't even notice; I didn't notice the first error either :P. Nice animations, although I don't think that, at a Civ 3 scale, the autocannon spin would be noticable (unless you gave him a larger gun). Can hardly wait to see the plasma attack... Sounds awsome.
