Hi,

I just got a new laptop. It came with Windows XP Home, which I will uninstall as soon as possible. Now my choices are these:
-Windows '98: The one I'm running right now on my old computer, which will run out of service as soon as the laptop works the way I want it; I never got a Windows-related crash with this one
-Windows 2000: Heard many bad and good things about it
-Windows XP Professional: No registration required. Heard many good things about it.

The ultimate thing I want to know if Civilization 2 (not 3) runs with XP. I heard many comments from both sides.
Since I use my computer mostly (mostly) for games, I want to have the one windows which is best for it.

By the way, please no "use Linux" comments. Thanks.

There's nothing wrong with XP Home unless you're running a server or doing heavy networking. Civ2 does work on XP.

I know several people who disagree with that, Plex.

Stefan, I'd go with WinXP Pro. 2000 is good, but XP is the best, IMO.

Yep, I heard XP Home made it easier for hackers to get into your pc.

I believe 2000 is the networking version of windows, so I'd go with xp pro.

I guess I'll try it with XP Pro then. But if anything goes wrong, I'll blame you guys ;)

Seriously, I'll give it a shot. Thanks guys.
