Discuss, Discuss! :hammer:

This game willl be awesome! IMO. :goodjob:

I'm guessing (and hoping) CZE wil go through. Ultimately I would enjoy watching them become champions...

Sigh. All my preferred teams are being elliminated :(

Supporting the home side (North Europe) ... come on Denmark!! I think the Czechs are technically the best team left, but there's no such thing as a sure result in footy.

I agree, this is *THE* quarterfinal, even for me as a Dutchie. Too bad that one of the teams has to leave after tonight.

This is the one i am looking forward too :D
Two very attacking sides, should be a match to remember. Most of the Czech players are much fresher than the Danes though. They didn't play the third group game, whereas Denmark played a very high tempo match with Sweden.

Yay :D

England-Portugal was a classic as well. But I agree that this should be good :)

I like both teams, because they play good attacking football.
The Czechs impressed in the game against my own country and the Danes impressed me in the game against Sweden, a game which they (at least IMO) should have won.

Therefore it's difficult to decide who's my favourite.

I go for Czechia, because they did their "duty" againt Germany and therefore helped my own country to reach the Semifinals.

So Czechia GO :)

This one is surely a tough one, but the Danes might be lucky that the Czechs have underestimated them (as they often are...). I think that Denmark and Czech are those teams in the tournament that resemble each other most, and therefore I reckon it's going to be a tough match for both sides. Anyway...

GO DENMARK!!

I'm a little bit in favour of Denmark, but wouldn't mind the Czechs going through either. Hopefully it will be a good game. But given the expectations we might be disappointed yet again...

The Czechs are my friends after their match against Germany.
Go Czechia!!!!

They've got a great team I think although Holland could have beaten them in the first match, if only Advocaat hadn't made the exchange of Robben...

We owe the Czechs, but I'd still prefer Denmark to go through as don't really want Orange the face the Czechs again in case we make it to the finals  (I will likely be punished for this comment by either a Czech victory today or a Danish win in the finals :crazyeye: ).

I'm in kind of a dilemma. Traditionally, in all international tournaments, I support one out of three teams: either Denmark, Portugal or the Netherlands. Now, what where the odds that all three would make it so far? So, I must support Denmark, and the others when facing other nations...

I fail to see how thats such a big problem except when Portugal play Holland as when the play Denmark then you can just support Denmark...

GO DENMARK!!

I echo those sentiment Nixon. :D Should be a great because the Czechs are very good, being the only team to win all their matches make this a great match. hopefully the Ref will allow this match to flow and not cause make farcical errors to cost one team their rightfully victory (i.e. England against Portugal). May the better team win, which will be Denmark. :D

I support the Czech tonight. :)

However, either it's Czech Republic or Denmark, I hope the winner will reach the final. :D

People in Denmark seem very pessimistic. I think it will be hard, but I give it a 60% chance of victory.

1-0, will be the result, I think.

Go Denmark.

It's not living up to expectations yet :(.

0-0 at halftime with the Danish dominating, but not creating any chances. The Czechs are sitting back enjoying their martinis in the sun, except for one moment of excitement shortly before halftime.

Yawn.

Sadly that was correct... :(

A really boring game, the Czechs only defend and do nothing at all for the offense. The Danes try a bit more but seem also very careful. No intense fighting, no fast paced combinations, nothing exciting at all.
It would have been good if Denmark had scored, I guess that would wake up the Czechs and with them the game.

Overall this fits quite well into the tournament.

I don't like it how everybody seems to rely on the Czechs to wake up the game, we've got a nice team too...

I think we could do this - I stand by my prediction: 1-0 in our favour.

Yep, the Czechs know how to create chances - and turn them into goals!

I really wished Denmark would go through, because this Czech team seems almost unbeatable...

I'm disappointed. I thought our team was something like marginally better than the Czech team. Apparently I was completely wrong. This is just pathetic.

Watched the second half until they scored the third. Denmark didn't look amazingly bad they just failed to create any chances whilst the Czechs did...

Now, why did we have to suffer the most decisive defeat of the quarter finals?

Dell19
Jun 27, 2004, 03:30 PM
Suprisingly the score line finished 3-0...

Congrats to the Czechs for getting to the Semis. Will they be the team to finally knock out the Greeks?

What a lousy match.

But I guess certain people (first and foremost on TV here in Germany) will never look at the actual game when judging a team. If that was no boring defensive football today by the Czechs I don't want to see any. Yes they won, and with the 3-0 they certainly deserved to although the result was far too high. Yes, they were extremely efficient, three chances - three goals.

But sorry, only three chances in a game is not exciting attacking football.

insurgent
Jun 27, 2004, 03:33 PM
I think they had four chances... But our strongest part has always been the defence, and that just didn't work today. We played better than the Czechs for the first half, but it just collapsed.

Jun 27, 2004, 03:34 PM
Watched the second half until they scored the third. Denmark didn't look amazingly bad they just failed to create any chances whilst the Czechs did...You can say the same for Czech Republic vs Germany. At 1-1, before Baros' second goal, the German weren't that bad.

But it's a bit easy to say such kind of things... don't you think ? :mischief:

What will be interesting will be the semi-final between Greece and Czech Republic. If the Czechs win 5-0 we will have the confirmation France was the worst team of this euro. And I hope the new French coach will finally get all the thirty year-old players of France out of the field (and Wiltord and Trezeguet too).

NB : I totally respect those players, after all they've scored the two French goals in the Euro 2000 final against Italy. For that, they'll remain forever in French football History... but unfortunately it's time for them to leave. :(

Martin Jørgensen was disappointing - he used to be able to decide matches for us. Today, he almost didn't show himself.
Thomas Sørensen, our goalkeeper, is extremely good, but this match just proves that you can't rely on miracles, although we have seen a whole lot of those from him.
Jon Dahl Tomasson disappointed, but he had a hard task.
We missed Ebbe Sand, we made a lot of attempts to score by headers, but Ebbe Sand is the only player who's really talented at that. And he was injured. He could have made the job a lot easier for Tomasson.
But the guilt most definitely lies with the defenders - Martin Laursen in particular...

But the guilt most definitely lies with the defenders - Martin Laursen in particular...I hardly see how anyone could stop Baros' counters. Seriously.

I guess the Greeks will play the whole game in their penalty area exactly to avoid Baros' counters. Just like all the opponents of France did to avoid Henry's counters.

Seriously, both goals were due to lack of concentration by the defenders. He should have been denied those chances. Our defence is usually much more capable. :(

But yeah, Baros was good. The Czechs were better than us. They deserved to win. They may just win the cup.

Laursen's mistake at the 1-0 decided the match. The counters wouldn't have happened otherwise. In a game like this it comes down to single situations like that. Koller pushed him a little, though...

And stopping counters like Baros' is exactly the small bit of quality Denmark lacked today to win the match. That doesn't make the Czechs unbeatable.

Well, today they were pretty much playing like that themselves. With alot of success. Why should they change it?

although the Czechs deserved the win, Denmark was too harmless.

maybe final Czechia-Netherlands. the Czechs will regret that they didn't let us win ;)

Now that both Sweden and Denmark are out I'm satisfied.
I am pleased if the winner is one between Portugal, Greece and Celts. But I'm afraid the champion will be the winner of Portugal-Netherlands
