View Full Version : Who will win Euro 2004?
Darkness Jun 28, 2004, 04:29 AM So now we know all the semi-finalsts
Portugal, Greece, the Netherlands and the Czech Republic
Who's going to go all the way?
Dell19 Jun 28, 2004, 04:45 AM Czech republic...
willemvanoranje Jun 28, 2004, 05:50 AM Czech Republic I think... they have the best team.
Evertonian Jun 28, 2004, 05:51 AM Czeck have been the best team so far without any doubt. However I voted Portugal, I think home advantage will do it for them.
col Jun 28, 2004, 05:52 AM You'd have to have missed all the previous games to vote for anyone other than the Czechs.
El Sop Jun 28, 2004, 06:18 AM I voted Greece, for the fun of it . Obviously the Czechs are the favourites now, but I think they'll have a difficult game against Greece. When the Czechs face an attacking team (Denmark, Holland, even Germany when they had to) they are much better then when they have to create things themselves, like in the Latvia game and to some extent yesterday's first half.
Greece will just do nothing and will hope to put one in like they did against France. It's not an unlikely scenario IMHO. Then in the final anything can happen.
Tallanas Jun 28, 2004, 06:22 AM The Czechs. Good defence combined with attacking flair players in good form, and strikers who are scoring goals... Unbeatable...
Lambert Simnel Jun 28, 2004, 06:32 AM I voted for the Netherlands.... I'd prefer to see the Czechs win (after all, I put £10 on them at 13/1 before the tournament started...), but I do think their defence is a bit suspect. The Dutch could have buried them before half-time in their group game, and Advocaat is unlikely to repeat his substitution of Robben should the two teams meet up in the final and the Dutch be leading 2-0.
Elsaak Jun 28, 2004, 06:42 AM Czech Republic is now for me the best team
deo Jun 28, 2004, 06:51 AM Well i think that Portugal Will beat Netherlands and Czechs will beat Greece (the mos luckly team i this tournament i think  )Than I will be hard do beat portugal but the Czechs will win... Voted for the Czech Republic
WickedSmurf Jun 28, 2004, 07:03 AM I think Czech Republic will take it, tho I am crossing my fingers for Greece! :D

Lambert Simnel Jun 28, 2004, 07:10 AM Here is a current ranking in Europe after this quarters :
.......
Interesting point - counting penalty shoot-outs as draws, then only the Czechs have managed to win more than 2 games, and the Dutch in particular have won 1 of 4, and that was against Latvia....
Elsaak Jun 28, 2004, 07:19 AM Interesting point - counting penalty shoot-outs as draws, ....
it's what I've done
AceChilla Jun 28, 2004, 08:10 AM I'm still thinking The Netherlands have a good chance of winning, we should be able to win from Portugal and we have already proven that in principle we are able to beat The Chech Republic (we were 2-0 up against them in the poule match).
I sure hope I'm right :)
Suppersalmon Jun 28, 2004, 08:30 AM I think the Czech Republic may win
Hitro Jun 28, 2004, 11:30 AM Portugal. Or if not then the Netherlands, in any case the winner of that match.
Dell19 Jun 28, 2004, 11:46 AM I guess Greece happen to rank so highly because Portugal and Holland both went through on similar low points totals from the groups stages and both won on penalties whilt the other teams that did well at the group stage have gone out...
MrPresident Jun 28, 2004, 12:36 PM Portugal.
Silly German. That's not how you spell Czech Republic.
-0blivion- Jun 28, 2004, 12:38 PM Czech republic, although i am still baffled as to whether this is the Baros who playes for Liverpool
As a Newcastle fan, i hope he doesn't continue that form into the premiership this year..
eq1 Jun 28, 2004, 01:25 PM I think the czechs will win it, but it will really depend on which portugese/dutch team shows up to the finals. They both can play incredibly well when they choose to.
Yaype Jun 28, 2004, 02:18 PM Czechs have been too dominating so far to say anybody else.
jzsf Jun 28, 2004, 03:31 PM Czeh Republic! Yea!
Dell19 Jun 28, 2004, 04:06 PM Silly German. That's not how you spell Czech Republic.
No there are still several teams competing, its not just the Czechs... :p
Karl Lenin Jun 28, 2004, 04:44 PM The Czechs have been the best team this far and the players look to be in an unusual good shape for this time of they year. They will easily tear down the man-marking defence Greece used against France. The Czechs are also penalty specialist by tradition.
Holland can beat them though. Not because they have played well, but because they seem to have the luck and referee decisions on their side, which can be enough win a nervous final.
El Sop Jun 29, 2004, 03:05 AM If history repeats itself Holland wil win... In 1988 they also beat the host nation in the semi-finals to go on and win it in the final against a team they lost against in the group fase :D.
Dell19 Jun 29, 2004, 03:47 AM I'm suprised that the Czech republic actually has 68% of the vote, Portugal only has 3 votes...
MCdread Jun 29, 2004, 07:41 PM Let's hope those 3 votes translate to 3 goals tomorrow! :D FORÇA PORTUGAL!!!!!
Inter4 Jun 29, 2004, 09:00 PM You shouldn't be surprised Dell...all those votes are from all the english in the Forum..:mischief:
nixon Jun 30, 2004, 01:29 AM The Czechs will, and I think it's perfectly fair if they won because, as others said, they simply have the best team. Although home advantage certainly is a factor for Portugal, I don't think they'll pull it through, as they are far too fragile as a team compared to the Czechs.
EDIT: Go Czech! :D
El Sop Jun 30, 2004, 03:28 AM Let's hope those 3 votes translate to 3 goals tomorrow! :D FORÇA PORTUGAL!!!!!
And the 9 votes to 9 goals for Holland :crazyeye:
Dell19 Jun 30, 2004, 03:57 AM You shouldn't be surprised Dell...all those votes are from all the english in the Forum..:mischief:
Then why do they all seem to be voting for the Czechs and not as many for Holland? Besides I don't have a problem with Portugal even though both my teams were knocked out of Europe by them... :(
El Sop Jul 01, 2004, 03:53 PM I'm proud to represent the one vote for Greece vs the 32 for the Czech Republic :D. Of course now Portugal will be the landslide favourite in the final, but Greece have proved now twice (or 3 or 4 times if you count the group matches as well) that that is the perfect way for them to go into the match. But at least Portugal won't make the same mistake twice in underestimating the Greeks.
Dell19 Jul 01, 2004, 04:02 PM One day they have to lose and that might just be in the final :p
Rik Meleet Jul 01, 2004, 04:06 PM You'd have to have missed all the previous games to vote for anyone other than the Czechs. ... errrr - I did not miss any games, but since a few minutes I don't think I'll vote for the Czechs ...
What a surprise those Greeks are. They have beaten so many "top-countries". Are they now the "team-to-beat" or is Portugal still the Favorit ????
I don't know anymore. This is a Korea 2002 flashback.
Dell19 Jul 01, 2004, 04:12 PM I think Portugal will still be the favourites...
Archer 007 Jul 01, 2004, 11:06 PM Portugal. Or course, I have a bias.
jzsf Jul 02, 2004, 11:50 AM Yesterday the Greeks beated the czehs.. :( They can beat the portugals too!
#300 :D
BCLG100 Jul 02, 2004, 02:41 PM i reckon portugal they just simply have a better midfield with ronaldo, figo and deco. their ability to be constantly change positions results in it being very hard for the defense to pick up their movements. then if nuno gomez is back for the final, (cant remember whther he was banned or injured or something fore the semi)
El Sop Jul 05, 2004, 01:32 AM So I've won the bet... Each would put €10 in, right? :D
Lambert Simnel Jul 05, 2004, 06:51 AM So I've won the bet... Each would put €10 in, right? :D
Heh. I voted Netherlands, clearly the worst performers of the final 4. But I did actually put £10 on Greece to win...
