View Full Version : Who will win Wimbledon?
Syterion Jun 29, 2004, 10:47 AM First seed Ferderer is still in, but so is no. 2 Andy Roddick, and it looks as if it could be them in the finals. But you never know with Tennis, number 1 seeds have been knocked out in the most surpising times. Personally I want Roddick eliminated as soon as possible, I hate his comebacks. Especially in the US Open against Nalbandian(who didn't come to Wimbledon, but he would have been fourth seed), when he was down Match Point but came back to win.
So who do you thik will take it all?
MCdread Jun 29, 2004, 11:00 AM I think that if Roger Federer can play to his full abilities, he is simply too good for any other player on the circuit, and the grass surface suits him well.
El Sop Jun 29, 2004, 11:03 AM Federer is the man to beat
dgfred Jun 29, 2004, 02:32 PM I think Federer is going to be tough to beat ;) .
What about the women? :scan:
I'm for Sharpova whether she wins or loses! :worship:
Darth_Pugwash Jun 29, 2004, 03:07 PM I'd say Federer too, but I voted for Henman. Hey, I can't help it, I'm British! Come on, Tim! :D

I agree, the women are much more entertaining to watch.
MrPresident Jun 29, 2004, 07:23 PM Henman is playing surprisingly well. I know every year that we English think he's going to do it but one of these years he's surely got too. I hear on the BBC that he is the first player to be in 8 quarter-finals without winning it for a 100 years.
Lambert Simnel Jun 29, 2004, 07:25 PM Federer and Williams. It's going to require an almighty upset for either of these two not to cruise home.
Tallanas Jun 29, 2004, 07:29 PM If Henman can beat Roddick, he'll win :)
Go Tim!
Dell19 Jun 30, 2004, 09:27 AM Looks like it will be his year next year...
Elsaak Jun 30, 2004, 10:53 AM Looks like it will be his year next year...
right !!! :D
El Sop Jun 30, 2004, 11:08 AM If he continues like this, maybe he has a better shot at the veterans tournament in 10 years from now

He really gives his all :goodjob: , but seems to tire late in the matches.
He is still fun to watch and the fans really get into his play :D .
Syterion Jun 30, 2004, 04:48 PM Henman is now out of the Tournament! Sorry, Brits. Mario Ancic played really well, I saw his match. Federer had the most trouble of all with his opponent, but Hewitt was still defeated in 4 sets. Sebastian Grosjean hasn't really played any very good opponents in this tournament, so I think Federer will surprise him. I hope Ancic surprises Roddick.
dgfred Jul 01, 2004, 09:26 AM Roddick vs Federer should be an interesting final.
Selena looks unbeatable and Sharpova/Davenport should be a tough match,
both hit the ball very hard and have power games. :scan:
Darth_Pugwash Jul 01, 2004, 10:03 AM Ah, there goes Tim...again. I watched the last set of the match, and I must say that Ancic firmly outplayed Henman. Ah well, theres always next year...
Davenport/Sharapova has been a close match so far, Sharapova has alot of, uh, talent.:mischief:

Elsaak Jul 01, 2004, 10:18 AM Maria, Maria......
2-6
7-6
6-1
Elsaak Jul 01, 2004, 10:19 AM she did it !
Darth_Pugwash Jul 01, 2004, 10:24 AM Well, Sharapova has arrived. She absolutley dominated the final set.
Dr Jimbo Jul 01, 2004, 11:24 AM Has Federer even dropped a service game yet?
dgfred Jul 01, 2004, 11:32 AM Well, Sharapova has arrived. She absolutley dominated the final set.
Davenport is not in Serena's league though, Serena has Power and SPEED.
I expect her to win but will be panting, I mean pulling, I mean cheering for
Maria  :queen: .
El Sop Jul 01, 2004, 11:45 AM Has Federer even dropped a service game yet?
I'm not entirely sure about the match against Hewitt, but at least before that match the last guy to break Federer's serve at Wimbledon was Schalken in last year's QF.
Edit: just read on wimbledon.org that Hewitt broke Federer once yesterday.
Dr Jimbo Jul 01, 2004, 11:49 AM ^Well that's what I heard - I'm wondering if he can go the whole tournament, which would be

Davenport also seemed to lose her motivation in the last set today. I think Serena will win this one too.
dgfred Jul 02, 2004, 10:24 AM Does anyone know the outcome today? :scan:
El Sop Jul 02, 2004, 10:53 AM It's raining again. Federer leads Grosjean 3-2 in the first set with a break of serve.
dgfred Jul 02, 2004, 11:08 AM :thanx: El Sop. What are your predictions? :scan:
El Sop Jul 02, 2004, 11:25 AM :thanx: El Sop. What are your predictions? :scan:
I'd say Federer beats Grosjean easily, Roddick will have a tougher job with Ancic, but will go through. In the final Federer will be the favourite.
Still raining by the way. At www.wimbledon.org you can follow it yourself live.
BCLG100 Jul 02, 2004, 02:49 PM i think Federer in the mens he just looks unbeatable on grass, i think serena will win the womens as he just has so much power and speed.
however Britain is not completly without hope theres Miles Kasiri in the boys semi finals.
Syterion Jul 03, 2004, 09:23 AM You guys will love this-Sharapova just won the women's championship. In straight sets with dominance, 6-1, 6-4.
I want Ancic to spoil Roddick, but I don't know if it will happen.
