Why is it doing that???? Dell19 Jun 30, 2004, 09:33 AM You are definately running the correct installation file? MarineCorps Jun 30, 2004, 10:19 AM Yup. I triple checked. Dell19 Jun 30, 2004, 10:37 AM Have you run an updated virus scanner recently? MarineCorps Jun 30, 2004, 10:50 AM Not that I am aware of. I was trying to install the AVG thing for the first time when it said that it was installing MSN 6.2 again. Thrawn Jun 30, 2004, 08:34 PM I highly recommend you try Avast! (http://www.avast.com/eng/products/desktop_protection/home_edition/free_avast_4_home_ed.html) then, if the AVG install isn't working. I use it, and I'd recommend it over anything else. It's great. :D MarineCorps Jun 30, 2004, 08:40 PM Yeah as it looks like AVG isn't gonna install. I am still puzzled as to why it is installing the wrong program. So I'll have to use avast. Turner Jun 30, 2004, 11:22 PM have you tried d/ling it from a different source? Dell19 Jul 01, 2004, 03:30 AM Are you sure that you properly uninstalled MSN messenger? What happens if you install MSN and then rerun the setup? lord_yoshi Jul 02, 2004, 01:20 AM clear the browser's cache... Hey, it works for me. hbdragon88 Jul 02, 2004, 01:52 AM OK I just DL the AVG free thing. When I open the setup file all it does is install MSN messanger 6.2 on my computer. Not AVG. Why is it doing that???? Microsoft is sending you a message, MC. ;) 1. Don't use anything but MSN Messenger 2. AVG sux0rs. Use MACAFEE, the AV software AOL and Hotmail use 3. You are only making the operating system ANGRY but installing alternative products to the superior Microsoft products 4. We will be soon trying to install IE when you try to install Firefox 0.9.1 or any later build Titi Jul 02, 2004, 02:29 PM You may also installAntivir (http://www.avup.de/personal/en/avwinsfx.exe). It finds more viruses than Avast! or AVG according to various computer sites and articles. However it has a big drawback: whenever you update the signature file, you need to download the whole package! You'd better have an ADSL connection! For your wrong installation file, at first I thought that both AVG and Messenger installation programs had the same name (say, setup.exe). But since you're sure you use the right one, apart from downloading a "corrupted" file, I'm afraid I don't see any reason  MarineCorps Jul 02, 2004, 06:33 PM have you tried d/ling it from a different source? I don't think there are any other sources as there are like 10 steps you have to go through just to DL it. :crazyeye: @DELL: I never unistalled MSN.;) I unistalled Windows messanger. ;) @hbdragon88: Well considering I have cursed Bill Gates several times on MSN... :mischief: @Titi: Nope Blazing fast 56K. MarineCorps Jul 02, 2004, 06:42 PM This is a picture of my programs folder. Setup.exe is MSN and avg6709fu_free is the anti virus program. |
