Playing 20 overs isn't it? Well there's a similar thing in England and Wales, which they call Twenty20 cricket. It's certainly a lot more suited to the American market, I'd think, and must be more entertaining than baseball...

Unfortunately, the whole organisation seems to be a bit amateurish.

speaking of 20/20; I went to my first game of it on Friday evening. Essex somehow managed to beat Hants despite only scoring 135 off their 18 overs (rain restricted). I am a fan of "proper" cricket but was pressured into going (female and 14 year old cricket nut combo), It was really exciting and engaging - as long as you dont expect old fashioned cricket. Part of the appeal of which is the concentration over long periods, the ebbs and flows etc etc. The crowd loved it and the ground (unusually obviously) was packed. Some of the organisation seemed ameteurish in comparison even to Portman Road where 27 - 30, 000 people are coped with better than the much smaller cricket crowd. There was also it seemed to me a noticeable and marked divide between those in the sponsors tents and the majority of the crowd that seemed greater than at footy, even with boxes.

A friend brought me a cricket bat and ball from India yesterday. Clearly, a baseball swing won't do. Does anyone know a good little site to teach the basics of the game and swing? I've lived in Ottawa for close to 15 years and I have yet to see anyone play the game, so I have no idea.

Its kind of hard to explain how you play it. I learned it from watching alot of it on TV and playing it with the servants and my friends. I also went to cricket camp some while back and that helped. But then again I lived in a country where its the national sport. Canada has a lot of Indians/Pakistanis, so I'm sure you can find some club or something.
