Well, still no discussion thread and I don't have the time to read through all the posts in this thread to see if you answered it already.
Ok I've seen the post about gpt deals, so that is answered.
What about alliances, ROP, MPP. Are they allowed if we don't haggle and just ask: what would you need for?
EDIT: Just see : No embassies so forget that I asked.
EDIT2: Ask again, they could have an embassy with us.
The 20 turn timer is still unclear to me. What if a second war starts within it (very probably by somebody else declaring due to MA).
When to start the third war?
Do we have to buy a tech one at a time, or can we combine several. It's kind of haggling to look, what exactly we can afford, on the other side the variant is tough enough w/o us having to give our only good tech for e.g. pottery. Maybe allow combining as long as it doesn't take all your techs, gold and gpt.
mad-bax Jul 14, 2004, 05:14 AM I will be setting up the discussion thread later today. I apologise for the delay. The link will appear in my sig.
There are a lot of people asking basically the same questions, and this is my fault for trying to keep the rules brief. I will adress all your concerns in the discussion thread, which should be up in a few hours.
tao Jul 25, 2004, 06:31 AM The Xenophobic part of the variant runs as follows.
10. You will never retain a town that contains foreign citizens. Such towns must be razed and any workers spawned disbanded.
Question: If an AI town flips to us, must we refuse the rebels or may we accept them and then xenophobically abandon the town?
I think this should be posted over here (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?p=2034230) in the maintenance thread
Dan-Beersheba Jul 28, 2004, 10:48 AM I am just wondering is it too late to sign up for this game?
mad-bax Jul 28, 2004, 10:57 AM Since we have had one or two dropouts I can ask those teams if they will accept another player.
Please tell me what level you feel comfortable playing, which version of the software you ould prefer (if any) and whether or not you are determined to play (or not) the sponsored variant.
Just post the answers here, or you can send me a private message if you prefer.
Welcome to the forum, I hope and expect you will have a lot of fun here. :wavey:
Dan-Beersheba Jul 28, 2004, 11:34 AM Never mind, but thank you mad-bax. I see this is emperor level game, and I am only a beginner. Too hard for me. I think maybe everything in this forum might be too complex for me. I read the rules for this game and WHOA! Very, very confusing.
Mistfit Jul 28, 2004, 11:39 AM There are many new players involved in the SGOTM. That's one of the many neat things about it. Mixing new players with more experianced ones. You only take 10 turns at a go so it is pretty hard to screw things up to badly. Also with discussions before and after turns you can learn a lot.
mad-bax Jul 28, 2004, 11:42 AM The game is complex. Endlessly so probably, and that's why I am addicted to it I think.
Start a regent level game, and look at the war academy articles that are linked from the sites main page. Get a couple of games under your belt, and join us for the next game, which will start in a couple of months. We'll all be really pleased to have you join the game. :)
alerum68 Jul 28, 2004, 01:57 PM And... shameless plug I'm sure... but click on the link, and read the thread that says Chieftian to Diety anyone? in my sig at the end of my post. It's training day thread where most of the players started out on warlord/regenet and now are easily all Emperor. Even in Solo games.;)
ForTheEmpire Jul 28, 2004, 03:14 PM @Mad-Bax
Are those two slots still open? Yeah I'm new around here and to sgs, but I'm not unfamiliar with them and I understand how they work. I'm a PTW emperor player but should be playing deity (still doing variants on emperor before I make that step up). I've been trying to look for regular sgs to join to get the experience with working with a team but no new ones using PTW have popped up, and I was told I could try here. Any luck in me getting in this late?
mad-bax Jul 29, 2004, 11:10 AM There have been a couple of drop outs. It is just a question of whether the teams feel they need a replacement or not. I should think I can place you though. Just be patient for a few days, and don't read the game threads or the spoiler thread in the meantime.
If you do, I'll know, and I won't place you. :)
