View Full Version : Bug List?

I don't see a Bug List topic anywhere, so I'll just relate some of the things I've been experiencing. I've been a Civ player since the original.

#1) I was playing the Greeks in a solo game recently. I got a Greek Military Leader and parked him in a city for a few turns until my next tech discovery, when I planned on using the Leader to hurry-up the then-available Wonder (I don't recall which tech or Wonder, something in the middle ages). When I got the tech and moved the Leader into the city to hurry-up the wonder, I didn't get the hurry-up option. The only option was to build an army. Why didn't I get the option to hurry-up the Wonder?

#2) Many of the ship soundfiles seem to be a magnitude louder than other sound effects. I know I'm not imagining this. It's really irritating to have the sound turned just right, not too loud, when all of a sudden here come some tall ships...WHOOSH WOOOOOSSHH WOOOOOOOOOSSSSSSHHHH.

#3) Why is it that all of my opponent's cities (except for his capital) are listed in the diplomatic negotiation screen, but not in the embassy screen? (In my opinion, only those of my opponent's cities which I've actually discovered on the map should be listed in the negotiation screen, not all of them. Only after having traded maps or establishing an embassy should all cities become known.)

Well, that's all I can think of, for now. I'm sure there were a few others, I'll have to keep playing. ;)

Here's something else that happened in a recent game. I conquered a city and started producing Workers therein. When the first one popped out, it had my civ's color (not the grey slave-worker color), yet the name of the unit was "Mayan Worker" (the Mayans were my opponents from whom I had taken the city).
So my question is this: Why did the worker have my color, yet was named "Mayan" and, more importantly, was this a free slave worker or one of my own that I had to pay maintenance on?
I know now that I should have consulted the military advisor screen to find out whether this Worker was listed as my own or as "Mayan", but I didn't think of this at the time.

Actually, there *is* a bug list forum in the Conquests Forum. Look here (http://forums.civfanatics.com/forumdisplay.php?f=109). ;)

Since only Conquests has any possibility of being patched at this stage, that is the only *open* bug-list forum. There were bug lists for each patch of Civ3, and PTW, when they were pertinent. Which version of the game are you playing?

As for your bugs:

1) Did you do anything to the production in that city besides normal "let the shields accumulate"? Did you disband a unit there? Did you log a forest there? etc. Any shield acquisition by a city beyond its normal shields-per-turn makes it impossible to rush the Wonder there.

1) Alternative: If you are playing Conquests, Military Great Leaders cannot rush Great Wonders at all.... :mischief:

2) I have observed this myself.

3) Because that's the way the game works? I dunno - I have no real answer for this, other than the stock "gameplay/mechanics".

Your "Mayan" worker was built using (formerly) Mayan citizens, so it is labeled as such. As to whether it is a "slave" or not, I am not sure.

Thanks for your answers, Padma. I am indeed playing Conquests, with the latest patch (v122).
Thank you, I found the bug list yesterday after my last post. I will head over there shortly.

re: when my GL couldn't rush the wonder: I don't remember whether I used any other methods to speed up the wonder, such as felling forests. But I thought these various methods that worked in Civ2 no longer worked in Civ3? Does felling forests help speed up wonders? In any case, since you write that, in Conquests, military GL's are no longer able to rush wonders, that explains it. I think mine was a military GL...

re: the loud ship sounds: irritating, isn't it?

re: all my opponent's cities listed in the negotiations screen. This is not so much of a bug than a design flaw - and an amazingly huge one at that. If memory serves, this is even a holdover from Civ2. It's ridiculous if you think about it. Here we are playing on a hidden map, yet the negotiations screen shows a list of all the opponent's cities, thereby showing the opponent's size - a very valuable piece of info, to say the least. What were they thinking when they designed it this way - or were they?

re: the issue of slave workers wearing national colors appearing in a newly-conquered city. This is actually already listed in the Bug List in the other topic, so someone's aware of this. It also says that it is merely a graphical glitch, and that if the game is saved and reloaded the workers will then appear in their proper grey slave color. So it does appear that they are slaves, not nationals.

Thanks again for your answers, Padma, and I will peruse the Bug List in the other topic now. Later...
