Is there any way to put a password lock on a folder? As when my brother goes away in a couple of months I would rather he not be able to remove some of the anti spyware programs I have installed and all of the programs are in one folde so he doesn't know that they exist, and made sure all the programs folders were hidden.(I have also taken the liberty of putting the unistallers in that same folder. :D) However I would also like to put a password on it. :D So any way I can do this?

try Hide Folders

If you set the folders to hidden in the windows property box for that file and then select folder options to not display hidden folders then your folders would no longer be visible although it is just as simple to undo again. It might be better to come to some sort of an agreement though, certain file sharing programs can be installed and bits of spyware removed whilst still functioning correctly...

Is "anti-spyware" a euphnism for "porn"? ;)

The best solution would of course be to get your own computer :p

No. :p It is a bunch of anti spyware programs(Spybot, adaware, spyblaster, and spy guard :D Lots of protection, through it would be more if I could buy adaware) and one anti virus(avast).

@Dell: The purpose is to protect his computer. :p As he likes to use Kazaa :rolleyes: And he is in college so I can't touch his computer while he has it at college :p And I have my own computer(even if it is a pos. For now anyways :D) :p

If it is his computer and he doesn't want the anti spyware software why are you installing it?

There are free anti virus programs out there.

And avast would be one of those. Although I use AVG myself.

Yes since it is ultimately his responsibility for what is installed on his computer...

The trick is to let him mess up his computer until it no longer works and then you fix it with certain conditions so that the anti spyware software will no longer be uninstalled...

So you're suggesting the he get as much spyware on the computer as he possibly can so that his brother begs him to fix it?

Do you remember that little picture I showed in SF a couple months ago? The one with all the spyware? Thats from his computer. He doesn't know whats causing it and thinks its not an issue. Even through I have told him it isn't. :rolleyes: Ever see Men In Black? Thats kinda whats going on here. :p

Find a hosts file that was made to block adware and spyware and then visit every site on the list. I'm sure you could could easily get over a thousand programs on there in an hour or so.

When he has no more room for porn he'll let you fix it...

Clearly he doesn't see spyware as an issue. It needs to become an issue so that he is prepared to fix it, first the problem must be recognised before it can be fixed otherwise the solution can just be seen as a problem.

@Dell
Thats a very good point. :goodjob:

@marineCorps
If you go into spyware blaster, find the list of restricted sites and go to each one, you'll get so much malware that it will probably screw up the OS.:mischief:

I remember getting some type of adware called mpgcom that really screwd up my computer, perhaps you should try to get it on his compter. ;)

It probably won't work if its MC who screws up the computer then his brother can blame the things that MC has downloaded rather than what he has...

He won't have to download anything, you can easily get malware just by going to the site since many forms of adware and spyware use activex,activescripting, and javascript vulnerabilities.

Which means that it is the fault of MC for browsing the sites and not the brother. My suggestion wouldn't work anyway if MC continued to use the computer as the blame can always be transferred...

He blames me anyways :rolleyes: He is not good with computers. He thought my USB memory key was causing problems :lol: :crazyeye: I have about 4 weeks to decide what to do, then he comes back from USMC OCS. :rolleyes: :)
