Greetings all

I do alot of beta testing on my system, so that means that I reformat alot...sometimes weekly or twice a week depending on testing needs.

Alot of the games I play, I keep on a separate drive. Since they are "self contained" (ie - no registry hooks or they put in the necessary registry info when first run, or no special files install in the Windows directory, etc), I can just run them when I want to.

Civ 3 tho, I haven't been able to do that with. Civ3 has some pretty deep registry hooks and my attempts at just building a reg file that I can run and keep the game on a separate drive haven't worked.

Has anyone else been able to this?

NOTE -- I am NOT discussing any warez or crap like that here. For the record, I do alot of Microsoft Beta Testing and have been since Windows 95. Just in the past week I've had to reformat my system and install Windows XP twice in order to fully test out different builds of Service Pack 2.

I have my original disks for Civ 3, PTW, and C3C and all I'm trying to do is set things up so I don't have to constantly install all three of them. I don't mind having to insert my CD in order to play so I'm not looking for any sort of no cd. Just looking for a way so I don't have to constanly reinstall.

Just replying so you won't think you're being ignored. ;)

I have no idea on how to help you. I'm not *sure* it can be done. For your sake, I hope I'm wrong. :)

Can you set up a dual boot partition, and have a small, 3 or 4 gig one that has XP, and Civ on it? Then the registry hooks should stay with that partition, and you can use the others for whatever...
