The Laws Of The Samurai

1. Samurai must fight fair, no stabbing in the back, if an argument needs to be resolved then it will be contested in either armed or unarmed contest.

2. A Samurai must become perfect in whatever he chooses to pursue, whether it be archery, armed combat with a single sword, armed combat with a double sword, or unarmed combat.

3. Samurai must make there own weapons, no taking off anyone else.

4. If you come across a a fellow elitist across the field of battle, you shall seek each other out. once miamed so much that they cannot continue you end their life quickly and painlessly.

5. If a samurai should lose and live he must perform the art of Seppuku (the killing of ones self)

6. A samurai must first under go the trials before being completly acknowledged as a Samurai.

7. Once becoming a Samurai it is for life (a term) so this should not be undertaken lightly. it is only a job for the bold and foolhardy for we alone stand in the defence of the kingdom.

The Seven Principles

These are possibly more important than the laws, they define what a samurai must be.

The Samurai principles grew out of a mix of Buddhism and
Shintoism. They Called it Bushido.

1. Gi: the right decision, taken with equanimity, the right attitude, the truth. When we must die, we must die. Rectitude.

2. Yu: bravery tinged with heroism.

3. Jin: universal love, benevolence toward mankind; compassion.

4. Rei: right action--a most essential quality, courtesy.

5. Makoto: utter sincerity; truthfulness.

ó. Melyo: honor and glory.

7. Chugo: devotion, loyalty.

I have just undergone the process of making my sword, read on if you wish. BCLG bows :)

I had to undergoe fasting to purify myself for my blade, i was dressed in white as should be done and i began the proccess. i began by heating the steel and then hammering the varying layers of hardness together, this enabled it to both be strong inn battle but also. This process took a month with the reheating taking place over and over again. I then preceded to engrave just above the hilt with the words. Gi, Yu, Jin, Rei, Makoto, Melyo and Chugo

Considering the fact that it takes months to make a good Katana, I suppose I would take some sharp tools and try to cut and fight myself out of the jungle before I starve to death. :p

But seriously, who cares. Just one more thing: You wont have much of a sword until we research IW... :p

Okay for everyone taking the trials, can you bein thinking about your speciality afterwards, i appreciate that samurai were good at all things, this way however adds the ability to add different story telling elements to the thing, with different people taking different responsibilities.

okay so here are the 'options'

The single sword Katana, there are 2 different ways of choosing here, the single edged Katana or the double edged. both have their merits and drawbacks.

single- lighter so quicker to use, it however has only one sharp edge so is harder perhaps to kill.
double- heavier making the user maybe not as fast, but with its double edge make pretty much any hit a killing hit.

There is also the bow allowing the said person, to kill from far away, it will inevitably be pretty useless up in closs combat so generally bow users carry 2 short swords with them. they are however not exceptionnally good in close combat, so basically you have to stay out of it.

Unarmed very stealthy the only drawback being if you should come up against somebody with a sword you have to find some way to disarm them first.

@great sure, just another person to add to my epic story :p

below are the katana single edged,

Don't forget, there is also the kodachi, one may also fight with dual kodochis: merciless against swordsmen.

And for reference to the unarmed warrior, see Sanosuke, a characher in Rurouni Kenshin. He is nearly unbeatable, only defeated by Kenshin and by Shishio, for, "His strength is his inhuman toughness."

The Flight Of CivGeneral

'Grand Master' Says CivGeneral 'I'm Worried about the trial, what shall I do?'
‘Believe In, your self, you shall conquer all.’ Replied BCLG. The pair walked off in silence towards the sunset, it became dark very quickly. While walking along CivGeneral asks ‘The trial what do we have to do?’
‘Just make it to the other side of the forest we are in right now, it is 10 miles wide, 14 miles long. You cannot go around it, you must go through it, I shall be awaiting you at the finish, for you will be there’ BCLG says the last bit rather forcefully.
The pair walk along sometime more, deeper and deeper into the forest, CivGeneral however begins to notice that he can only here one pair of footsteps.
‘When does this trial start then?’ he asks the Grand Master. However BCLG doesn’t answer for BCLG had gone.
‘I guess right now’ CG mutters to himself.
After bedding down for the night, CG wakes early in the morning to the sound of a howl; he looks around worried before shaking himself awake.
‘Well best try and see where I am’ he says to no one in particular. With That he sets off in search of a tall tree, eventually he finds one with low enough branches to climb up and after a few attempts manages to scale to the top of the tree, he is in the heart of the Forest there are no buildings in site, he can however see smoke far away on a hilltop in the distance. He gathers his bearings and begins his climb down the tree; mid way down he hears a howl.
‘Whatever it is, is getting closer’ he mumbles. He continues to descend the tree, pausing only for air. He jumps the last few feet to the bottom; however what he doesn’t notice is the divot in the ground below him, he catches his foot inside it and ends up twisting his ankle.
He stumbles along like this, his ankle not getting any better, for a good few miles. Suddenly he hears a howl again,
‘Wow! That’s close.’ He quickly climbs up the nearest tree, when suddenly Chieftess bursts into the clearing, she’s obviously hurt as blood is dripping from a cut to her face and she’s cradling her arm. She tries in vain to climb a tree however cradling her one arm making it virtually impossible. The howling began getting louder, CG’s began to hear the rumble of feat coming towards him, he senses its not good. He reaches out of his tree and pulls CT up onto his branch. While doing so he notices a heavy wound in her side.
‘Thank you!’ gasps Chieftess, before collapsing. CivGeneral is left sitting in the tree, when the wolf comes past. It poked its head in the air and sniffed, it then however sensing nothing begins to walk off, however suddenly a splitting crack is heard. The wolf stops and CivGeneral turns to see the branch he and Chieftess, were sitting on starting to come off the tree at a peculiar angle, before he has time to realise what is going on him and CT have fallen out of the tree and land with a huge ‘thud’ on the floor. The wolf can hardly fail to notice that. So turns on them both.
CivGeneral is left scrounging around the floor looking for a weapon any weapon, the only thing he could lay his hands on was the branch which he’d just fallen off, just as the wolf was about to hit him he grasped the branch in the side of the head, the wolf was flung against a tree to side and it stumbled away crying. At this point Ct begins to become conscious,
‘What Happened’ she asks. CG just picks her up and begins to walk out supporting her, upon reaching the Grandmaster he just smiles and nods at both of them, before they both collapse on the floor.

BCLG100
Aug 03, 2004, 09:21 PM
okay CT's
Being the only woman trainee, Chieftess received a room to herself, so upon awaking the morning of the trials. She awoke to find her room had been stripped bare, leaving no possessions. All that was left were 2 pieces of paper. One saying

To complete your trial, you must pass through this forest. You may use any means at your disposal to do so. There will be many paths that you may take, you will see them on the map overleaf. They will all more than likely be hazardous but you must pass through to become a samurai. That is all.

So CT set off with nothing but her wits. Pausing only once as she entered the forest. She continued on with nothing happening for about 3 miles, suddenly there was a huge thunderclap and torrential rain began to fall. Seeing a cave in the distance Chieftess thought it would be best to go over and whether the storm. Passing a knee-high stream on the way in.

Upon entering the cave Chieftess noticed that it wasn’t very deep and had very little of anything left in it, the only thing left in was a few rocks the size of her palm and what looked like some embers, a few hours old. So with nothing else to do Chieftess eventually fell asleep.

She awoke a few hours later, to a large growl. Her 6th sense working over drive she suddenly rolled further into the cave. Luckily for her, for one of the 2 wolves had pounced and only managed to catch her leg, it could have been a lot worse for her head was there less than a second before. Chieftess barely had time to register the blow but she knew it wasn’t bad. During her roll she managed to grab a rock, so when the other wolf jumped on her she managed to crack it round the head, the wolf leapt off allowing an opening, Chieftess could hardly fail to take advantage. She raced out of the cave.

For some reason the wolves stopped still for a moment as if they wanted to enjoy the chase. This allowed Chieftess an extra few seconds to get away, she didn’t waste these seconds and raced to the stream she had noticed on the way up, as she entered into it she noticed that it had risen due to the rain to waist height. She was slightly relieved, as this meant the wolves would be able to pass through. She continued on like this until she came to an open patch with only one tree in the middle and a branch on the floor. There was a howl and the wolves pulled in closer. She grabbed the branch and stood with her back to one side of the tree.

Now the wolves knew their trade, one came from the front and one from the side, both jumping at the same time. Chieftess ducked with the first one impaling itself on the tree quickly slipping into unconsciousness. The second one however was more fortunate and managed to sink its claws into Chieftess’s side. Chieftess gasped inwardly in pain. Before jamming the stick back towards the wolf's head. CT then turned and stumbled off into the growth, one branch hitting her in the head causing her cheek to bleed. The wolf had flames in its eyes. It set off after CT crashing through the undergrowth. Suddenly CT notices a tree and thinks she may be able to climb up it, she tries in vain. Before failing, suddenly from nowhere a hand shoots out from the tree and pulls her into the tree. Before passing out she manages to say
‘Thank you’ before continuing into blissful unconsciousness.

3rd one (sorry civ didnt get much in the way of ideas for yours :p)

After hearing from one of the Order’s cleaner girls he was making use of that she had heard that the trial would be beginning the next day. Civanator decided that he should try and get a head start on his competition. So in the early morning when every competitor except CivGeneral was in his or her beds Civanator started off, into the forest.

By morning Civanator had gone a bit of the way into the forest, he had caught a rabbit using a simple trap before, he found a cave brought some wood and started a fire, he decided to cook the rabbit on this. Now Civanator had always found he had a strange way with some animals. So when 2 wolves entered the cave he was in, he wasn’t the least bit afraid. In fact he was quite glad.

And so he left that cave leaving the wolves a little message of something to do. In fact the rest of his journey was relatively easy so much so that he managed to wander out of the forest before the rain could begin.

GA your lazy ;)
Ginger ale got up relatively late on the morning of the trials, by the time he had got up everyone else had gone, the only person remaining in the village was a young boy cleaning out the stables. He asked the boy where everyone else had gone, the boy told him that they had all begun the trials and past through the forest earlier that day, that if she didn’t hurry she would be too late.

Ginger ale therefore set off at a canter to the forest, he was running through the forest, noticing how everywhere around him seems wet and damp, he continues like this until he comes across a river. The river was fast flowing and looked fairly dangerous, Ginger ale looked as far as he could see and could fid no way of getting around it, so he continued on through the river which was about 20 metres wide.

Ginger ale was midway through the river when suddenly the current got stronger, he stumbled but regained his balance, he continued on suddenly upon nearing the other side a howl and a yelp went up in the woods, ginger ale’s concentration slipped for but an instant but that gave the river time to wrap itself around him, The river carried him downstream knocking him against the rocks, eventually ginger ale was battered so much until he became unconscious.

Eventually ginger ale stopped as the river slowed down. The day passed and it was night when ginger ale eventually woke up, it was night and he was unsure where he was so as the river was quite warm and the gushing noise quite relaxing he began to close his eyes. Suddenly gravity did not seem to take such a hold on him, ginger ale looked around and he was floating on air, suddenly as he looked around and he had just gone off the side of a waterfall. Ginger ale plummeted 10 feet to the pool below. He immediately slipped into unconscious straight away on the side of the lake.

Ginger ale awoke the next day sore and groaning, he decided a good plan would be to maybe wash, he therefore went and got up and followe the small lake around to come back to the small waterfall, he decided to just go stand under it. As he passed by he though he noticed a darker area of the water, he decided to go and check what it was.

He approached the dark area and stepped under the waterfall, inside it was just a small cave. On the floor however was a small case. Ginger ale opened it and found a small golden chain inside, it was inscribed with something but he couldn’t see what, it was too dirty.

He decided to leave the cave later that day. In a way the river had been quite helpful it had brought him pretty much the whole way out of the forest. There was just a few rows of trees before the edge of the forest, GA walked out of the forest battered and bruised but he didn’t care because underneath his robe was the small chain. He was determined to find out what it said and what it was used for.

Noldor and SD a joint effort of sorts, sorry it was the last one i just couldnt think of ANYTHING.

Nolder and SD woke up early on the morning of the trials, as CivGeneral and Civanator had not spent the night there and Chieftess had her own room, they was the first to rise out of the room, he contemplated awaking the rest of the room but decided against it.

They walked outside and went to go and find the grand master, after an hour of searching it became apparent that he was not around so he began searching for anyone they could find. Eventually he came across a sword smith, they asked him where everyone was and was politely but firmly told that if he wanted to find them he must first pass through the forest.

In the end these 2 found it the easiest to pass the trials except from noldor getting a bruised knee and SD getting a cut arm they were fine. Nothing much happened, they took this as both a good and bad thing, they hadn’t had much time to impress but also no harm had come to them.
