View Full Version : Classic 32: Results & Congratulations
ainwood Jul 22, 2004, 05:21 PM This month, 3 fast domination victories took-out the first three places, just pushing a 20k Cultural win into fourth place!
Dynamic was the winner in 470 AD, with Drazek and Toyo taking out second and third places with wins in 540 AD and 590 AD respectively.

Well done to all winners and all who took part!
DJMGator13 Jul 22, 2004, 06:46 PM Congratulations!!! :hatsoff:
If I may ask, I noticed that the top 3 were fighting very early wars, some within the QSC time, was this because of the UU or do you always push the early wars?
Mauer Jul 22, 2004, 06:56 PM Congrats to all! Especially members of Team Mauer: Zamint3 (Top 10), Detlef Richter, and Alamo. :goodjob:
whitecow Jul 22, 2004, 07:26 PM CONGRATS!!!
early domanation victorys though! pretty impressive!
samildanach Jul 22, 2004, 09:10 PM Good Work on getting the results out so promptly again :goodjob:
I have a question about the GPR. I notice both Offas and High Deserts GPR hasn't been updated with their COTM1 scores. While my GPR includes my GOTM 32 score. Is the COTM to get its own ranking after all?
I was suprised to see Sir Pleb getting the diplo award. I thought he had no chance of winning it given the conditions he was playing with. Very Impressive :goodjob:
Congrats to Team Akots as well. :goodjob:
AlanH Jul 22, 2004, 09:21 PM The Global Rankings system hasn't been updated yet to incorporate COTM results. So it's ignoring them and just adding the classic games as they appear. I'll try to do some work on it this weekend.
Randy Jul 22, 2004, 09:46 PM Congratulations!!! :hatsoff:

I was only avg. but I killed all the AI on my Island before Mid age. Yes the UU.
After I had my island it took a lot of suicide galleys to meet the other civs, Maybe 1/3 of the way into the MA. So I changed my goal and went UN.
I think I was 5th highest Diplomatic.?
GA started with only 2 cities, UU 1 to 2 turns or settler in 2 or 3.
Edit: I broke every treaty I made with the civs (some on the same turn, end war get free city +gp then attack with next UU) on my island, but they were all gone when I meet the rest.
Congratulations!!! To all.
Kuningas Jul 22, 2004, 11:58 PM Three times in a round fourth place. Medals keep ignoring me.
Gongrats to all.
ainwood Jul 23, 2004, 12:06 AM That was still a pretty good effort! :D The map didn't really have an ideal starting point for a 20k Culture victory.
eldar Jul 23, 2004, 02:05 AM Great games, everyone. Smarting that I missed out on the low-scoring SS victory, though (despite launching a full 40 years later than the 'winner'!)
Neil.
Xerol Jul 23, 2004, 04:22 AM I was shooting for diplo but missed the UN by like 2 turns...at least i've got an award for something now though. There's no award for lowest-scoring histographic win though?
maharaja Jul 23, 2004, 08:30 AM Congratulations to all winners & loosers too (because I am one of them :D ).
A win is a win and lose is a lose......so a medal is a medal. This was my first GOTM (first game above warlord and 3rd game overall) and guess what....I got 'Highest scoring defeat' medal.......I love this game..... :king:
so the Motto is either win or lose like me..... ;)
Karasu Jul 23, 2004, 09:09 AM Congratulations to everyone who participates in this fantastic community :)
I echo Ainwood's salute to Matrix for his return and :worship: for submitting so unlucky a game -not many would have done that, including myself...
And to the winners of course. Every month I see finish date that border the ridiculous, or someone getting the fastest diplomatic award with an AW game...
When are we going to see earlier finish date than 6000 BC?
Sir Bugsy Jul 23, 2004, 10:01 AM :band: I got a medal!! :band:
I didn't think I had a prayer for a medal. In May, I thought it was was a sure thing. It wasn't. In June, I thought I had no chance, I did. Go figure.
:rotfl: It was for lowest scoring! :rotfl:
Matrix Jul 23, 2004, 04:25 PM Hehe, after all these years I finally got a price! :D Thanks for introducing me, ainwood. ;) I haven't started the new GOTM yet. But I'm still a little lost in the number of different GOTM's. My policy is to have only one GOTM, so that everyone would fight for the same price every month. No offense there though, just a matter of choice. ;)
So is there a Conquests GOTM without tweaks? http://www.straland.com/images/smilies/slant.gif
Matrix Jul 23, 2004, 04:27 PM Matrix was the first GOTM admin, back in the days where he manually opened every game, played the last turn and wrote down the score!
Man, you make it sound like I'm born in the 19th century!
ainwood Jul 23, 2004, 06:15 PM Hehe, after all these years I finally got a price! :D Thanks for introducing me, ainwood. ;) I haven't started the new GOTM yet. But I'm still a little lost in the number of different GOTM's. My policy is to have only one GOTM, so that everyone would fight for the same price every month. No offense there though, just a matter of choice. ;) We've kept the PTW/Vanilla one so that the Mac players (and other non-C3C players) aren't left-out.
So is there a Conquests GOTM without tweaks? http://www.straland.com/images/smilies/slant.gif
Yep ;) Starts on the first of the month. If you wannna play this months' one, you've got about a week. We're playing as the Dutch ;)
AlanH Jul 23, 2004, 06:42 PM With Matrix's recent strategic approach a week should be plenty of time :D
Dynamic Jul 24, 2004, 09:19 AM Congratulations to all players!!!
:
If I may ask, I noticed that the top 3 were fighting very early wars, some within the QSC time, was this because of the UU or do you always push the early wars?
In this game I did early war because my civ was militaristic and I have fast & cheap UU. ;)
Matrix Jul 24, 2004, 05:12 PM I don't think I'm gonna make that one since I'll be gone from tuesday till friday. Sorry.
With Matrix's recent strategic approach a week should be plenty of time :D
