View Full Version : Exploit?

Has this been discovered before?
In itself it seems useless, but there are some things such as building the MP, and then starting Nukes on all your cities, and then abandoning the city with the MP, so you have the only nukes.
If you want to completely outlaw nukes you could just disband the MP immediately.
Or, you can do the above tactics directly before you destroy the MP of your opponents'.
I feel that this is an exploit because the AI never destroys Wonders under any circumstances...or if they do, they definitely don't do it for Nuclear Extinction.
NOTE TO MODS: I made this thread to notify the GotM Council.
Cuivienen Jul 23, 2004, 05:28 PM IMO, this exploit comes too late in the game to affect GOTM, anyway. If you're building Nukes in a GOTM...
ainwood Jul 23, 2004, 06:23 PM Well, I don't think its a game-breaker exploit, and it probably does come too late. If you had a massive tech lead, built the Manhatten project with numerous pre-build for nukes, switched them over to complete them then cut the Manhatten project before anyone else could start nukes, then that would be 'more' exploitive.
It could be modded to make it a small wonder, but unfortunately it would still flag to allow all civs to build nukes.
You would still get the rep hit in using nukes I presume....
samildanach Jul 23, 2004, 07:46 PM It's a very nice idea. It might come into play during an MP game that has degenerated into a stalemate. The opponent(s) may let you choose to waste your resources building the MP and then you sucker them...sweet. I think wonders usually come up first on build completions so you should be able to change all your cities to nukes.(I might be wrong about that but I seem to remember thats the way it goes.)
Randy Jul 24, 2004, 09:44 AM I think it cycles in the order your city or captured city was built.
A lot of wonders may be built in your Capitial so that city would be first.
civ_steve Jul 24, 2004, 05:10 PM Wonders are built at the same time as all other builds. City order can be critical. Open your oldest city (Capital if it hasn't been disbanded) and use the Arrows at the top to determine the order; choose cities for pre-build that are earlier in the order than other cities. Learn Tech (Fission in this case), chose 'Show Me the Big Picture', switch your pre-build to Manhattan Project, exit, MP gets built, open city view, select Right Arrow to advance to other Pre-build cities and switch them to Nukes, if they have enough Shields they will build them that turn!
I don't consider this an exploit worth banning. Most top-scoring Domination and Conquest Victories occur in the Middle Ages, occasionally in the Industrial Age. A player would have to be at Domination Limit and doing serious Milking to have a top score and be able to use this exploit, and probably deserve a good rating anyway.
DaveMcW Jul 24, 2004, 11:29 PM I don't think this works on a fully patched game.

Well, that sure simplifies things! :D
.Praetor Jul 25, 2004, 04:07 AM Er... I can confirm that. I just razed the Manhatten Project city in a game, and a few turns later I started a tac nuke. Vanilla, btw, so it should work that way for all versions...
