Also, this might or might not be the problem, but, if you are using windows XP, you have to have administrative control of your computer (ie; the "Owner"). Any other info about this happening? Does it happen on another computer (if you can try, that is). ronok Jul 24, 2004, 04:12 PM The CD is in I'm running Windows 98, Conquests 1.00 ronok Nov 13, 2004, 09:56 PM Bizzle.:bump::band::thanx: Turner Nov 13, 2004, 10:32 PM Check your refresh rate, and manually set it to what i's at in your conquests.ini file. Add the line Refresh=XX, where XX = your refresh rate. ronok Nov 20, 2004, 08:14 AM I just did that and defragged all of my drives and now it gives me the please insert CD-ROM and restart application message, I've checked and the CD is in, Please help! wachter Nov 20, 2004, 10:27 PM Your not alone with this problem. I have it...and there are many posts about it around the boards and in the big sticky post around page 2-7...theres a few variations but its still more or less the same problem. Unfortunately....there appears to be little hope. The problem stems from the fact that the safediscv2 used to protect agaisnt illegal ripping of civ 3 plain out sucks....which hurts us law abiding civ fans..... basically there is a problem where your CD-ROM drive cannot read the disc right...you might hear a louder whirring sound than usually....then again you might not. Some people have found success d/ling the v. 1.22 patch from civ3.com, then going to gamecopyworld.com and installing a fixed exe, which allows you to bypass ever needing to read the CD. Others, after many emails to firaxis, have managed to obtain a copy of the official firaxis fixed civ 3 exe. I personally have not had any luck so far....the fixed exe from gamecopyworld sounded promising, but I could not get it to work....anyone have any tips as to this? All I did was replace the exe files like it said too...but there was a .ino file i had no clue what to do with. let me know if you find a solution ronok Turner Nov 20, 2004, 11:33 PM You won't get any help with cracks here.
