View Full Version : Adopt a newbie - programme
Rik Meleet Jul 27, 2004, 05:17 PM We are fortunate to have a large citizen-total with a wide variety in both veterans and newbies.
The newbies seem very eager to participate and have already set up a thread for themselves; The Newbies Society (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=95139).
Let us veterans reach out and adobt a newbie so that the newbies have a personal veteran to ask questions to and to coordinate the participation, while the veterans have a chance to do some other useful things, besides taking up all the offices. That way cooperation is increased and soon we have newbies in offices.
Any veteran and newbie interested, post here.

MSTK Jul 27, 2004, 08:59 PM I am not a vet, but I don't consider myself a newbie.
Oh wait...
Technically I am :D
But I learn alot by watching and waiting rather than posting.
Cyc Jul 27, 2004, 09:19 PM Hey, I adopted Rik Meleet when he was a newbie and look where it got me. He's now voting against me!
BCLG100 Jul 27, 2004, 09:22 PM no one adopted me, cept maybe Ct and chiefpaco, slightly but i didnt turn about so bad, did i :)
Civanator Jul 27, 2004, 09:34 PM Heh, I adopted Strider in DG1 and he put me out of Science.
MSTK Jul 27, 2004, 10:01 PM Meh. I guess adoption can lead me great places :rotfl:
Okay, I'm up for grabs :D
KCCrusader Jul 27, 2004, 10:26 PM Hey I'm a newbie to this :-D But I tend to figure things out on my own fairly quickly.
Espírito Jul 28, 2004, 02:26 PM *whimpers* Would someone please adopt a poor abandoned little noobie, the world of demogames is too harsh for me to be left all alone :D
LeeT911 Jul 28, 2004, 03:55 PM You can sign me up. ;)
Zarn Jul 28, 2004, 06:33 PM I was 'adopted' by two people. IIRC, they were Chieftess and Cyc. I think they were trying to create some sort of superdemogamer out of me, but they ended up with this. Close enough. ;)
I would 'adopt,' though I don't feel it is needed. Anyone can ask me a question (demogame related mind you), and I will answer.
SniperDevil Jul 28, 2004, 11:07 PM Sign me up. This demogame is very big and scary :(
CivGeneral Jul 29, 2004, 12:27 AM I would like to adopt a newbie :).

CivGeneral Jul 29, 2004, 02:21 PM Hmm, I am looking for a newbie to adopt that will be willing to be active in the demogame :). Plus with all the newbies pleading to be adopted, its hard to chose.
Zarn Jul 29, 2004, 02:28 PM Hmm, I am looking for a newbie to adopt that will be willing to be active in the demogame :). Plus with all the newbies pleading to be adopted, its hard to chose.
They are multiplying.
We need more 'veterans' over here. Maybe some elites (Civ joke :yeah: )...
Come on guys, let them in on the fun!
MSTK Jul 29, 2004, 02:35 PM CivGeneral, adopt me please
CivGeneral Jul 29, 2004, 02:54 PM By looking over the newbies, I have chose MSTK. The reason I chose him is because he shows promise on being an active demogamer since as his signature shows, that he is going to be a cartographer for this demogame.
MSTK Jul 29, 2004, 02:57 PM Yay! :rotfl:
...
So...
What now?
Zarn Jul 29, 2004, 03:04 PM I will take 'untaken' new people (everyone deserves a shot), but I want to see some vets show up. That way I don't have to take on just about everyone.
CivGeneral Jul 29, 2004, 03:32 PM Yay! :rotfl:
...
So...
What now?
Well, since this is the start of the game. Were basicly discussing rules and such. Once the game starts things will go from there. As I noticed that youre planning to be a cartographer, What sort of Paint program do you have?
(Since were in the slow/ruleset phase of discussions, I could possibly show you how to make good maps)
MSTK Jul 29, 2004, 03:37 PM I use the Gimp...I can't afford PSP.
Here are some of my work so far on some Succession Games and my Civ3 Story:

BCLG100 Jul 29, 2004, 04:53 PM @sniper devil, any samurai'ers automatically come under my hand, if you have any problems of any sort dont hesitate to contact me.
SniperDevil Jul 29, 2004, 08:16 PM Yes master :)
Lord Fraser Oct 09, 2004, 12:45 AM So, since I'm a total newbie to this part of the forums, what is this DemocracyV game thing, anyway? It seems to be a giantly-multiplayer game of civ3 with multiple people per civ, but other than that I'm clueless. Help? Please?
Nobody Oct 09, 2004, 03:30 AM Well i am a new player (newbie sounds like a slur) im more than happy to follow people around to learn the game better. but adopting seems a little weird, maybe the different departments could establish a Inter system (is this the word) to train people in their respective departments, maybe a limit of 2 per department, first in first serve type of thing.

Even though at the start of this game I was a newbie, I can consider my self a veteran now because of my active participation. DemoGame is a single player game on Vanilla. Have a look at my links in my signature to find out more.

Ginger_Ale Oct 09, 2004, 06:51 AM Lord Fraiser, check out this (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=91345) thread. :)
The demogame is a single player game, as classical hero said. We all collaborate together on how to build our nation (slider settings, technology research, military plans). We elect leaders that take charge of the different aspects of civ - Military Leader, Trade Leader, a President (who plays the turns after input from the leaders who get input from the citizens ;) ).
But the thread I linked you to is much better at explaining it - ask a question there if you have a question! Enjoy the demogame. :)
Detail Oct 11, 2004, 04:55 PM I need to be adopted. I've only been in the game for about a day and i catch on quick. I am pretty active too, just give me a job and tell me what to do :D
MOTH Oct 12, 2004, 10:31 AM Detail,
Welcome to the forums and the demo game. I too am a relative newcomer here having only been active for a month and a half. I will adopt you if noone who is a more veteran has time.
I suggest that you find some nook or cranie and offer good advice in that area. You could start as a mayor and offer suggestions to the governor for your city. It is an honorary position, but also one that is more or less yours for life. HAI-RANDO needs several mayors. Take a look at the thread in the Government section and post for a city that you are interested in.
Detail Oct 13, 2004, 02:39 PM Moth,
Thanks for the help I'll check it out. Sounds cool though.

What about those who were noob's at first, when this thread first opened? Would they now be considered vet's?
Strider Oct 21, 2004, 08:21 PM Rik Meleet, I ask that if you are here, and wish to continue running this. To update the first post. If you don't answer me by sunday, I will assume that you are unable to continue with this and post my own thread for this.
