Ok, so I got the keepres=1 in my coniguration files, and this game DOES support widescreen. Cool. My next problem is one I also have in Alpha Centauri - I have one of the "fake" keypads whereas you have to hit the FN key and then hit the fake keypad on the keyboard. However, this doesn't work in civ 3. Is there any way to get this working? Does a USB keypad work? What can I do? I'm a keypad player since the Civ 1 days on the amiga! (turning on numlock also does not work)

It works for me. I always play Civ on my laptop.

Hmm and the keyboard works for you too?

You can buy a fairly cheap USB numeric keypad. This would work for the laptop games. But then, it's another thing to take along....
Actually, Civ3 on a laptop taught me to play with a mouse. I'm a long time keypad player myself.

Try to activate "Pad Lock" Function before starting the game.
Then it might be recognized and work. If you need the keys 7 8 9 u i o j k l that are usually the substitute for the keypad, just deactivate pad lock.
This works on an Acer 291 LMi, but I have no problems with simply hitting FN either... perhaps a different keyboard driver will do it, perhaps can you substitute your keyboard driver, hm?
