I lean more toward 6 days, or two turnchats.

I would say 6 days, not 2 Turn Chats.

six days sounds good to me. Id even put it at 5 days, since most members seem to log in here at least once a day... but 6 sounds fine to me.

SOMETHING TO ADD: Temporary ban on that member for any elected position??

comments??

Two things.

First, have we already decided that the runner-up in the election will be the deputy?

Secondly, I would suggest that the wording be changed so that this applies only to unannounced absences. In the case of an announced absence, I assume the deputy would know about it and coordinate any necessary actions.

Hold on, I'm working on this.

Exactly. I posted this point a couple of times prior to this thread, but didn't mention it above. Good work.

If I can add my 2 cents here...
BTW, good job CivGeneral. I was working on this already and you beat me to it. Anyway, these are changes I feel should be incorporated:

Article G.
All elected official shall have a fixed term of one calendar month. All
appointed officials will serve until the end of the term in which they
are appointed.
1.All elected and appointed positions left in absentia for six (6)
days without official notice will be consided vacated.
In the event of a Minister's post being vacated, the Deputy
will serve out the remainder of the term.
2.Deputies will be selected as the runner-up in each election.
If the runner-up declines the position, a Deputy will be appointed.

I am hoping this will address some of the concerns people have voiced in the previous thread.

Looks good to me, if this looks alright to everyone, I would like to submit Commenus's draft to the judicary so that they can poll it.

Well, I can tell you from reading a post by our CJ in another thread that the enumerated sub-paragraphs will not go over well. We could change it to just be one paragraph.

a Deputy will be appointed.

If you mean change it to one paragraph, How about this format?

"If the runner-up declines the position, a Deputy will be appointed."

You should specify who makes the appointment. And who makes the official determination of the office being vacated?

Excellent point, zorven. We also need to correct the spelling on considered. ;)

Good job of re-formatting Comnenus.

Questions, questions...

Who appointed an official assuming there wasn't ever a deputy selected? For example, Minister A and Deputy Minister B both go missing at once. Now what?

Who determines when that six-day period is up?

I just got off work and will be working on this tonight.

Why do we have two Article G threads going? Great initiative, CivGeneral, but could everyone please meet in the official Article G thread (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=95246) from here on out?

Thanks :)

To make things easier, I propose we close this thread as well. I am getting confused when trying to work on this Article (I confuse easily), especially at almost 3am. My sig will now point to the original Proposed Article G thread. DZ has a really nice, streamlined Article poster there.

Remember, the idea is to just get it done.
