In your civ3\conquests\saves\ folder, probably. You'll need to unzip it first. :)

Yeah... I just played up until the start of the medieval age, and the only thing I learned was that I suck WAY too much to be playing on Demi-God. :p

I need to learn more about revolving my Civ Playing around my life (rather than the other way round) to worry about what level it's at....

I was kinda competing...kinda...definitely not a happy way to enter GOTM.

I've managed to keep territorial integrity at least so I'm trying a different approach than beating my head against the world's superpower next door... hopefully not out of the running yet, despite being left in the dust tech-wise.

ainwood, I have to say, even the starting compensations for Conquest Class do not put Demi-God down anywhere near Regent or Warlord. I'd say "Monarch or Emperor" would've been a more fair description. :crazyeye:

I'm pleased to see you are rising to the challenge, but please keep all comments on progress in the game for the Spoiler threads for each era.

Go to the submission page (http://gotm.civfanatics.net/submit/gotm.php) It's also linked on all gotm.civfanatics.net pages along with the game pages and results and so on. You can find full instructions on how to prepare your save file there. It must be a manual save, not zipped, for the turn after the victory ceremony, unless you suffer a conquest defeat.

This is my first Demi-God game too -- previously, the highest I've played was Monarch, and my only Monarch game was COTM2. It also wasn't heartening when I played 5 different test games as the Byzantines on Demi-God level and got my butt handed to me by the early Middle Ages (or sooner) in each and every one of them. Still, I soldier on.

Although ... I played about 20 turns last night and kept (for the first time) a turn log, and I found that keeping the turn log made me really think about each and every one of my actions. So maybe there's hope for me. I guess we'll see how I'm doing when we get to the first spoiler thread.

Well this morning around 4am, I made two incredibly stupid choices. First I decided I should attack <civ X> when the military advisor said I was weak compared to them. Then instead of taking my lumps, I got mad a few turns later and reloaded from the turn I attacked. I kept on playing until I had to got to work.

I had a tremendous (for me anyway) 1000BC start. I am going to finish the reloaded game but I can't submit, even if I manage to actually win the first demi-god game I every played.

I figured confession is good for the soul and all that. This way I won't get tempted later if I do good. :satan:  :jesus:

edit: oops. spoiler deleted

Wow, I'm still working on GOTM 33 and this is out already. I'm hoping to be able to play this one for Mursilis (inside joke), but I might end up trying for a 1CC or 5CC Diplomatic/Culture type game just to speed things up. I'll wait and see when I get to start and how the first couple of turns go before deciding. One thing for sure I won't be heading south with the settler in this game.

This is my first Demi God game too.

I also found that keeping a turn log, made me more concious of pressing the F4 key and checking my rivals tech progress. Else for me the AA goes in a blur (and I get into a MA slog).

But I still have not got to 1000BC yet. I will be posting and hopefully submitting my first COTM game.

You don't want to do it like that! You want to let CRpMapStat check for you! (assuming you're not a Mac weirdo like AlanH  )

Dianthus my compliments on CRPMapStat :hatsoff:

A couple of things about it for future releases:

1. It would be nice if it could somehow show available luxuries to be traded.
2. Sometimes it mentions workers available, but then the AI has none to trade
3. It continues to display AI that are destroyed
4. The pollution tab doesn't highlight when there is pollution

Thanks again for this very helpful and time saving product

@denyd, this is the wrong thread really, but...

Agreed. This will happen when I can detect available luxuries.
Are you using the latest version? I fixed a problem where Workers were shown when the AI doesn't have a city on the same continent as you (a little known prerequisite of Worker trading).
Again, are you using the latest version? This should be fixed.
Have you got an example .sav?

In the submision form, I need to submit a timeline file. Whats that?

AlanH
Aug 03, 2004, 02:57 PM
Which form are you looking at?

If you are submitting a QSC entry (Quick Start Challenge) you are required to submit your 1000 BC save and to include a time line - typically a turn by turn report on how you played the first 80 turns. All we require for a GOTM submission is a save file for the turn after the victory ceremony.

how do i know if i started a quick start game, all i know is that i started with 2 settlers and 2 workers, and that it has been quite a few turns, i dont know what quick start is, i just downloaded and played, can somebody advise me as to if i must give a turn report and what that is?

The QSC is just a part of the normal GOTM. The scoring is done completely differently though and is taken at 1000BC. You then continue from that point and submit the final game when you win (or lose).

[Edit: The last QSC to be scored was GOTM20. The results can be found <here> (http://gotm.civfanatics.net/qsc/qsc20/index.shtml). The staff are working on automating the scoring system. GOTM20 had to be score by hand, and that's quite a bit of work!]

If you want to submit the completed GOTM/COTM you don't need a timeline, just your end of game save taken after the victory ceremony.

As Dianthus says, the Quick Start Challenge is just a way to compare the first 80 turns of your GOTM/COTM against other players. It requires a save at 1000BC and a timeline. It's voluntary and you can ignore it if you just want to submit the GTOM/COTM at the end of the game.

I just started this GotM today, and so far I didn't get my rear-end handed to me. I even managed to fend off an assault from a neighbor :)

I do not expect to win though, for while I am playing careful and defensive, I haven't played Civ for a while and before that the highest I tried was Regent...

As long as you've never finished in the top half of the table you're allowed to submit a Conquest class game.

LeSphinx
Aug 12, 2004, 04:51 AM
I've finish 18/116 in the GOTM30: so it's on the top half.
But in the 2 previous COTM 01 and 02, I've finish 77/185 and 103/167!
Seems that I can not play in conquest! That 's it ?
Ough! I'm returning from holidays and I not in a moud for a great COC challenge in Demi god level as I never play at this level in COC!

Hi, I haven't played GOTM since GOTM24 (Korea) and I'm with a doubt here on submitting my QSC.

Is it compulsory to submit a timeline? As I knew, when I used to play the GOTM (around an year ago) it was optional, and used to give a 25% bonus for the player's QSC score. But what about now? It's because I'm trying to submit my .sav for the QSC but it's not accepting.

If I really need a timeline, then I won't be able to submit the game. It's already played, I don't remember details. And I won't be able to play the QSC in the future because I don't have the patience to write a timeline (sorry... I swear I tried, but when I write while playing, it steals my concentration from the game :( )

ainwood
Aug 26, 2004, 09:45 PM
Submit it anyway. :) Timelines are preferable, but we're just happy to get entries at the moment (trying to sort-out getting the scoring backlog cleared). :)
