View Full Version : graphics problem
Frealaf Aug 02, 2004, 07:25 PM been playing civ3 gold for a few months now just fine and installed Coq today and am having interface problems with conq , on the World creation screens the selection buttons look to be over sized and only one half is showing and in the game itself the user interface is all out of wake to put it bluntly, you can not make anything out, the game is fine terrain/units are all perfict but not the interface. I can still play gold just fine just not Conq
i have tried to patches also still not help :crazyeye:
ok think i know the problem... can anyone tell me what file controls the user interface in the game, it looks like what ever file it is is picking up the wrong PCX files for the wrong area. IE : where the mini map goes is displaying the PCX file of the resorces :help:

Frealaf Aug 03, 2004, 12:10 PM how do you take screen shots in game so i can post what it looks like, may help others understand what im seeing?
Turner Aug 03, 2004, 11:19 PM From the FAQ Thread (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=52360)
How do I take screenshots?
Use the capture-function of a graphics program
or
Hit the 'Prt Scrn' button on your keyboard. Then open a graphics program such as Paint (you can use the windows key, then go to Programs....Accesories...Paint, this way you don't need to exit the game), then you 'paste' and there's the screenshot! Remember to reduce the image size a bit, or crop it, and save the file as .JPG. There are also lots of screenshot programs (http://download.com.com/3120-20-0.html?qt=screenshot&tg=dl-2001) you can download at download.com.
I use a screencapture program myself, ScreenPrint32, and it will take the screenshots and put them into a directory at the touch of the PrtScrn key. That way I can rapidly take shots if need be, and not have to worry about c/ping them into a Paint program.

Yap 3 times!
With and without patches!
Maybe you could send me your pcx file?
Turner Aug 17, 2004, 07:52 AM Sorry..can't do that. That would be against the piracy rules on the forum. :( Unfortunately, these rules mean that sometimes we can't help out people who need it.

No, I can't tell you...not because of any rule, but because I simply don't know....
Hmm...did you download this off the net off of trygames.com or something? If so, try contacting them, let them know what's going on.
Naked Paladin Aug 25, 2004, 01:38 PM Did you apply a patch to Civ3Gold? If so, that will muck things up badly. Civ3Gold cd version comes fully patched. After installing Conquests you can patch the Conquests side with no problems.
Keep in mind, what I am telling you only applies to the cd version, I have no clue about the downloaded games. I bought Civ3 gold and then bought Conquests after deciding that I enjoyed Civ3 so I know that they do work together without breaking anything.
