There is a function of Paradox games (Europa Universalis, et. Al) which puts the serious brakes on warmongering, the BadBoy points. They are simultaneously the thing I most hate about the game and that I most love. When I'm high on winning war after war after war and then all of a sudden, the entire world gangs up against me, that is realistic.
In CivIII if you want to warmonger and take over the entire world, all you need to do is make sure you capture some extra spices first and sprinkle them on anyone you feel might declare war on you and viola, threat averted. Its absurd. As if any group of small countries wouldn't gang up on a global aggressor. I know that warmongering and Domination wins in particular are one of Civ's primary goals - and there has been a good balance, but perhaps there needs to be some additional incentive for other countries to gang up against you if you've captured too much territory (that and of course fixing the 2 city civ declaring war on the 30 city civ just for the hell of it). :goodjob:
