View Full Version : Turn 69 - 1300 BC
Matrix Aug 04, 2004, 05:39 PM I called the cities Charnel and Khazâd-Dûm, because I heard no alternatives. :mischief: But the next turn player may rename them if there is too much objection. ;)
Again the barbarian hut did not produce another barbarian. I'm tired of waiting, so I attacked. No worker. :( Lost no hitpoints however.
But the other javalin thrower was also about to attack a barbarian. Two hitpoints lost, but... :D
Matrix Aug 04, 2004, 05:41 PM The worker moved due south; the warrior skipped a turn to defend against other possible barbarians. Why haven't I thought of the fact that that warrior needs to go north to explore?!? :wallbash:
In any case, our curragh near C3B is now starting to do some serious exploring. :)
Matrix Aug 04, 2004, 05:50 PM Finally a picture of our main land.
Note that Map Making now takes six turns instead of the anticipated seven.
I concluded that:
- Statue of Zeus would be done fastest if it uses the freshly mined plains immediately.
- Ryttylä is the best candidate for a galley. Zoi's settler (nine turns) and the javalin thrower can be loaded into it.
- Charnel is left as harbour builder (now doing pre-build).
- Moving the settler from Fanatazuma due north would take too long. Better to build the city in the south now and move next settlers north, after we've built (a part of) a road to Khazâd-Dûm.
- Building another settler in Fanatazuma would decline it's size too much. Better to build a granary then more settlers. I forgot to check whether I could increase it's production.
- Best first thing to build in Khazâd-Dûm is a worker.
RegentMan Aug 04, 2004, 09:03 PM And where is that other settler heading? To the grassland outside of our borders?
Matrix Aug 05, 2004, 03:33 AM Yes.
.....
Ankka Aug 05, 2004, 05:58 AM Looks fine... after the granary I suggest we build one more JT for barb hunting here at the homeland, where the current one is, if it is going to the island.
Nice RNG on barb workers so far, out of 3 JT vs barb battles we have got 2 workers, when 1 would have been the estimate. :)
I urge everyone to check the nominations thread, there are still unanswered nominations and positions with only one candidate.

Yndy Aug 05, 2004, 06:51 AM We need another worker in the Channel area, I suggest Channel should build one. I know that another one is due in the area but I guess it’s for TF. Channel it’s not using improved tiles anyway and we’ll have another unconnected city in the area.
Khazad Dum will need to build workers at least until it gets connected to the road network, it’s corruption would be maximum.
We do not need granaries at this point, not in Fantazuma or other places, we either have a granary at the beginning or none at all. We could always use another Warrior or Jav to be used as Military Police in larger cities.
Matrix Aug 05, 2004, 07:46 AM I disagree, Yndy. We do need Fanatazuma for a decent settler production, because there is still much space to build cities. A granary would soon be paid back.
magnusmarcus Aug 05, 2004, 11:46 AM If we continue to build settlers in our capital then building that barracks there when we did was a complete waste of time....
Cheetah Aug 05, 2004, 04:24 PM Thanks for playing the save again Matrix. I had some problems here, but it's all taken care of so I'm ready to play the next saves. :)
I'm really not sure about the granaries. Would be nice if someone could show some numbers.
Things look good otherwise.
akots Aug 05, 2004, 06:49 PM So, while we are in Despotism, we have +3fpt. Which means that city grows in 7 turns (need 20 food) wasting 1 food. With Granary it will grow in 4 turns wasting 2 food (need 10 food). Not much of a benefit. In Monarchy that would be different. We can irrigate 2 tiles to bring it to +5fpt. However, this would greatly decrease the shield output of the capital. IMHO, our most productive city in terms of shields is Rytty and TF. TF would obviously try to build Forbidded Palace. Rytty can certainly benefit from Granary but to the same extent as the capital, so not so much. Really, it is hard to tell. If there were enough forest around, we could have chopped it to speed up the build. But the area is clean. And granary is still 60 shields even if we are agricultural.
RegentMan Aug 05, 2004, 08:35 PM Yes.
.....
Hmm... I don't like the look of those periods, Matrix. ;)
If I'm interpreting akots' data correctly, I'd say that a granary isn't a high priority in our build queue. I'm inclined to agree with magnusmarcus regarding the barracks in our captial. Let's build some javelin throwers/other military there soon.
Cheetah Aug 06, 2004, 06:21 AM akots, Forbidden Palace in TF?? But it's right next to Fanatazuma!
Building the Forbidden Palace in the island or east of Khazad-Dum would be more preferable, when that time comes, IMO.
Matrix Aug 06, 2004, 06:10 PM Hmm... I don't like the look of those periods, Matrix. ;)
That was just because posts with less than 10 characters aren't allowed. :p
akots, Forbidden Palace in TF?? But it's right next to Fanatazuma!
With Conquests it doesn't matter where you build your Forbidden Palace. A Forbidden Palace only increases the "Optimal City Number" and rank of cities in terms of corruption. But the distance of a city to the Forbidden Palace is not taken into account anymore when calculating corruption in a city.
akots Aug 06, 2004, 08:37 PM @Matrix: Nope, the distance is still a factor. FP decreases distance corruption. But it fails to decrease the rank corruption as it was in C3C. Also, FP increases OCN. Hence, early FP is of great benefit to our country. Late FP or too far away FP also brings us little benefit.
@Cheetah: please look through the alexman's thread about C3C corruption. It is completely different from vanilla or PTW.
The thread can be found here (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=76619)
akots Aug 06, 2004, 08:48 PM Good news! In COTM-GOTM which was number 2, Bremp failed miserably and got the lowest score award. Well, he won the game with 20K victory, which is rather good on its own. But there were only two 20K wins IIRC. First was Drazek who finished 5th. And Bremp was somewhere in the top 30 finishes.
Hygro Aug 06, 2004, 10:50 PM Maybe he's spending all his efforts on this game :p
Ankka Aug 07, 2004, 01:01 AM I actually checked it and was like wow what's that!
But he wasn't in the ytop 30, but 60th.
And is Cheetah gonna DP again?
Matrix Aug 07, 2004, 04:35 AM Woh, an incident. :p
Ankka Aug 07, 2004, 10:19 AM Is someone gonna play the save? 24h timeframe exceeded in an hour...
akots Aug 07, 2004, 12:45 PM I can play but have no UN registration still. So, if you can play...
Ankka Aug 07, 2004, 12:47 PM The UN note isn't so important, you can play and I can post there that the save is sent. :)
Because you are a much better player than I am. :)
Ankka Aug 07, 2004, 01:14 PM I am going to sleep now, it's too late to play anyway.
I hope someone does play this tonight, because it's already over the 24 limit. :(
akots please notice this and play. Or Matrix or Cheetah.
Cheetah Aug 07, 2004, 02:10 PM I'm running late for a movie now, but I'll play it in two hours if it's still here.
Sorry for me not checking in earlier today. :(
akots Aug 07, 2004, 03:04 PM Yep, it is good if the President can play it. Feels fair and solid. :)
We need to solve these confusions over the save. Like yesterday I checked the mailbox and there was a save there. Hence, I decided to wait. Today, Ankka posted that somebody should play but I did not have UN registration, so I posted that it would be better if he plays. Ankka then posted that I should play anyhow and now Cheetah comes who is the only rightful person to play. Some mess indeed.
Ankka Aug 08, 2004, 12:23 AM Did you get the registration done? Elucidus told me he had activated your account and sent you email.
akots Aug 08, 2004, 07:23 AM Thanks a lot for your help. I have not received the e-mail but seems that I can login to CDG UN now. So, guess the registration worked. :)
