In the depths of cyberspace, the Ancients created Stargates to hold tenuous connections of the Internet together, links to other worlds that remain open for traveling.

Recently the link has been used. Both sites now know of the other's existance, and wish to have bragging rights.

The time has come for war: two sites that would otherwise never fight are now compelled to battle for supremacy!

Civilization Fanatics. A proud community of strategists who have a penchant for spirited conquest.

Myst Obsession. A mighty gathering of adventure lovers who will unite to fight for their cause.

Will you be the one to cross lines that are held sacred by many? Will you be willing to backstab, betray, and ultimately destroy the competition? Are you able to stand this cheesy introduction?

A companion thread will be created on Myst Obsession when their Survivor game wraps up. For now, you may sign up. Keep in mind, however, that you will have to visit this game at least once a day for this to be a success. No one likes a no-show!

Please follow the forum rules for both sites. It is important that you don't tarnish the reputation of CFC and embarrass us. Friendly ribbing is allowed, though.

For the first part of the game, the immunity shall be decided by a two-tribe clash of Spear-Shield-Sling. You, the player, will PM your weapon of choice to me in secret until the public results are posted the following day. The tribes' weapons will be compared simultaneously, with Spear defeating Shield, Shield defeating Sling, and Sling defeating Spear. Whichever tribe still has weapons left will win the immunity, forcing the other tribe to vote (by PM to me) one of its own out of the game.

A tribe with more weapons will have a better chance of winning, so participation is very important at this stage!

When both teams number ten people, the tribes will merge. It will now be a daily voting round to kick someone out. Again, you will PM your vote to me. It is likely that a new forum will be created at this point, so keep your eyes open.

Remaining players now each have an immunity to their name. One may use his or her immunity at any time; beware, though...one may declare immunity only once. Should a tie happen, the player with the least amount of votes against him or her will win.

The last seven people (excepting the final two) will serve on the Survivor council to decide the winner.

You all file in for the tribal meeting. One of the unnamed intelligence experts stands up and places an old, tattered book on the table.

"Well, well, well," he says with a grin. "It appears that we have apprehended one of the enemy's Linking Books. Our specialists are working out a way to use this with the Stargate as we speak. For now, what we know about this book is very little. All the information we have right now is that this may be a link to the infamous Myst Island. Gentlemen, as we well know there is no game better than Civilization. We must crush this blight with one, swift stroke!"

"Hear, hear!" You all take a swig from mugs of beer that come out of nowhere.

A specialist runs into the room..."Sir, we have it ready!"

"All hands to the controls! I want that Book harnessed as soon as possible!"

Within minutes the Myst book is connected to the Stargate by various wires and clamps. The Stargate turns....back and forth...back and forth..."We have a connection!"

The Civ Fanatics, armed with their weapons, charge into the Gate!

The Myst Obsessed all watch the dock from the Tower of Rotation, unsure of what to expect. Bedford and Goldah are hiding in the trees above the dock, so that when they link to face the Gears they will be surprised....

They hear a warping sound coming from the Library! Holy crap! The Stargate must have connected with the fireplace!

"ATTAAAAAAAAAACK!" Rushing into the Library and eventually all over the Age, the Battle of Myst Island begins!

FOR THE RECORD---I WAS NOT THE LEADER!!!! everyone thought i was but that role fell on Louis, who i was fully cooperating with, sure, i helped a bit, but for everyone thinking 'must follow Ybbor...good job Gumby you followed the leader (ybbor)...i should get rid of Ybbor, i don't want the leader to survive' i was but the right hand man of the real leader

This game I didn't have nearly as many notes as last time, and I tried as much as possible to coast through this game, instead of take control of it.

In the begining, I was approached by Ybbor for an alliance (since we were mostly competing against each other last game, he probably figured it was easier this time to be an ally). I was also approached by Emperor Napoleon asking if I wanted an alliance, which I agreed. I never told each other about the alliance, though, and there were times on both sides where I slipped up an either forgot to vote or voted for someone different.

The tribes eventually merged, and CFC was lucky, having more players than MO. My first goal (I coordinated this with both my allies) was to get an alliance from the other side, and get them to vote for CFC (since I'd assume it would be something they would have wanted to do anyway). Also, I wanted to get Goldah on my side. Goldah, like me, had been a pervious champion, which I would figure would make this person a target. I would use this to my advantage to get a vote this round (say that we need to stick together), but I would soon use it to my advantage the other way (Ybbor would suggest that Goldah be voted out because a former champion shouldn't win a second time). I realized this could be used for me as well, but I would hope nobody would notice.

My voting scheme was to vote mainly for people who someone else wanted out already (the best example was with Strider and LLXerxes). Strider had voted for LLXerxes last round, so I told him to vote for Strider, and helped coordinate the vote in that direction. But it became more and more difficult each turn to "coast through". Ybbor wanted to vote off Emp.Napoleon, and Napoleon wanted to vote off Ybbor (both for obvious reasons, as they seemed to be the two toughest players).

It would seem I would have to decide on who I should stay with, but I decided not to. I told both sides to be careful. It seemed Ybbor failed to realize that Emp.Napoleon seemed to have majority support, so I told him slightly more (I told him to use his immunity). Although he seemed suspicious that I would tell him this, he did so, and ended up winning (I was actually hoping both sides would tie, and a third party would loose). After this, I don't think he doubted my trust, but I was looking for some other path to choose (I had gotten the suspicion that Ybbor thought that he could use me for an easy victory, because no one would vote for me twice).

I decided I would go with Grybeard. He seemed nice enough, and he didn't seem like he wanted to win, just continue with his site's participation, which I thought was cool. Although, next round, it seemed as if Ybbor would go after Grybeard. Although I managed to delay it a round by going after some non-active player, it seemed another choice would have to be made, this time between Ybbor and Grybeard. I decided I would, once again, not vote, but I did talk to Bacon King, who went along with Ybbor.

After this, I missed the next vote, and Dan'ni was out. Than another vote took out Bacon King. I realized I couldn't just let Gumby vote alone on every remaining round, so I made sure Ybbor voted. I had declared my immunity and so had Ybbor, so I figured there was a good chance that our majority vote wouldn't matter. I figured if I was in, everyone would vote against me, so I asked Gumby to vote for me, but he probably was thinking the same thing I was and voted for Ybbor.

So it was me and Gumby. Gumby had kept a fairly low profile, but had voted in every round. I had skipped out of a few rounds, so I was hoping that I would get support from those people.

And that's basically how I won. I had lots of fun, but this one was more luck than the last one. I really like the site-to-site compition, it added an interesting dynamic. I would like to thank everyone from CFC and MO, especially those who helped me win this. I would like to thank Civ/UruCube, I'm sure its a lot of work to run a game like this.

I had a feeling that I wouldn’t win the final vote

Being in two alliances and asking them “who are they going to vote for and then I voted for that person.”(‘Following’). When it came down to the Emp.Napoleon /ybbor vote… “Ybbor wanted to vote off Emp.Napoleon, and Napoleon wanted to vote off Ybbor” I also alerted ybbor that Napoleon was going to vote for him. I didn’t alert Emp.Napoleon about this, but after the vote the “backstab” was revealed. Keeping the ybbor alliance, but messing up and alerting that I was part of the Emp.Napoleon voting alliance.

Following along with ybbor in the grybeard vote. I just kept voting and keeping ybbor because I knew that he had no immunity, saving him for the final 3 and then voting for him. I kept get PMs from Louis XXIV, I decided not to reply to them keeping that low profile.

When Louis XXIV told me to vote for him over ybbor I thought that this was a trick and that my vote would not matter because Louis XXIV would use his immunity and then I get voted out. So, I voted for ybbor(no immunity for sure) and declared my immunity.

The plan worked out in the end but with alienated former alliance members in the voting council I knew I had no shot at winning. I guessing I took a lot of “rep” hits along the way?

Well, atleast you had a strategy. I didn't really plan to do anything, funny how I lasted about half-way through the game.

First, I have no clue as to how everything worked out between MO and CFC. Second, I have other things to do and am way too lazy to do a breakdown. :p

Well, I stand corrected! Loius did such a good job of playing both ends to the middle, I was sure that ybbor was the boss. It was well played, by everyone, and It was so much fun I didnt want to stop. I enjoyed it, and I enjoyed meeting you CIV people. :goodjob:
