I wasn't sure if it is possible to play Civ3 [PTW] in Windowed Mode.
I have asked this on other sites and no one knew much.

Anyway, is it '-window' or can i do this at all  ?

Civ3 can't be played in windowed mode AFAIK.

You can use ALT+TAB to swicth to another application when playing the game.

That's not exactly accurate, TF.

Check out this thread (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=75121) for the .ini settings, and this thread (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=88271) has some discussion on how to do it. I haven't tried this in a while, but I think you need to put the KeepRes=1 in front of the VideoMode=1024 in the .ini file.

And it's not exactly windowed mode, but forcing Civ3 to take up a non-moveable box that's 1024x768 in the top left corner of your desktop. So if you've got icons/programs under that box you're trying to get to, you can't move the window to get to them. But it does give access to the start menu and the taskbar.

Just to note, the keepres + videomode doesn't seem to work on all computers (atleast not mine when it's at 1280x1024 resolution).

EDIT: Just figured it out. "VideoMode=1024" will never work. You need a space between the words.

Video Mode=1024

(note the space).
