We had 170 entries this month, and competition was fierce! The top of the leaderboard was stacked-up with some very good scores - 7 players scored in excess of 10,000 Jason points.

SirPleb returned to the top, milking himself into first-place and getting a cow award as well.

Kuningas continued his consistent run, getting second place with a fast domination victory.

Aeson returned for his first game in a long while, straight back into the medal winners with a good domination victory.

Well done everybody, another great turnout.
I thought I had a decent shot at the cow award this month, but I've been beaten to it by a decent margin by the master himself. :worship:

How many of the high scorers settled on the opening peninsula?

Good question. I would find that interesting as well. I was one of the poor saps that founded on the peninsula.

Looking at the spoilers I think the fair majority of the high scorers moved inland. I know if I hadn't I wouldn't have gotten anywhere near the placing I did (9th).

What constitues a high scorer? Does 27th count (me :))? I settled South-East.

The following are the settle-locations of the Top 25:

Xevious(11th) was the highest placed to settle near the start location.

Oooohh, Ahhhh! Very interesting map. Thanks for posting it Dianthus! I think Xevious should get an honorary Peninsula Challenge Award.

It should be noted that I did palace jump to the cow fairly early. I would be interested to know how well the highest scorer that DIDN'T jump the palace did.

On Dianthus' map, my second city was at the dark blue 6, and 3rd at the cyan 3 SW of cow. The third city is where I jumped the palace to. If I had time, I'd replay to see how I'd do with an earlier cow placement, but I'm not sure I'll even finish GOTM33 at this point.

I did exactly that. I ended up 16th, all in all not too bad is it? But then again it's my first top-20 finish, so you'll hear no complaints from me!

Same for me on all counts, except my third city was directly south of the cow. Looking back on my game, I think settling near the spices second, rather than near the cow, was almost as big a mistake as not leaving the peninsula in the first place. But I won't complain about finishing 15th!

It should be noted that I did palace jump to the cow fairly early. I would be interested to know how well the highest scorer that DIDN'T jump the palace did. I stayed on the peninsula. No idea who was the highest placed of those us who did. We are a strange lot to have done it, but we could at least be referred to as the only real Dutch! Well, 19th suddenly seems a lot better. Thanks for that.

Here is your award [party]

I got 18th staying on the Peninsular but with an early palace jump.
