Did they mention that Civ4 was going to be 3D? Meaning?
Looking at Civ3, I'm having difficulty imaging how this is going to look.
I've always wanted to enter my cities like they're 3D cities you see in movies, do you think we'd be able to do that?

It's based on the same work they're doing for Sid Meier's "Pirates" if you can track down any screenshots. The plan IS "WYSIWYG" (what you see is what you get), so you might actually get some of what you're looking for.
The idea is there's no more city view screen, but a way to zoom in and out in various levels of detail. All one unified interface.

I see. I really like the way that game looks, so it should be good.
I can't wait.
Trip, no I don't really like Sim Cities.

I loved the new civ III visual overhaul. It added a maturity to elements like the city eye's view which became more artisitic and less cartoony. It had that real ancient dust'cradle of civilization feel to it.
Despite it's similarities to civII, being essentially the same game, the whole face-lift job added atmosphere and depth along with some important interface tweaks.
Now it seems civIV is set to do the same.
Thing is its a different jump this time and not just eye candy but a new environment. I'm imagining Age Of Mythology, Total War and those other 3D RTS's.
Civ 4 will still serve the same tasty turn based food but will the restruant be up to scratch?
I'm all for it as long as those without 3D cards or simply don't want to ride round a 3D environment and prefer the honest simplicity of 2D are catered for in civIV.

Well, you want to zoom in and see movies about cities, seems like a logical conclusion. ;)
I don't think that CIV would include that for some reason though. ;)
