I am surprised that many people find FFIX reasonable, boring or not that special.
I find that FFIX setted a very high quality and is probably the most PS2 ic game on the psone and its story is like a fantasy novel.
i think it was one of the best FF games but i don't get it that the masses aren't either blowing hot or cold

Final Fantasy 9 was good.
Final Fantasy 7 was one of the best games ever made (if not the best ever).
As for Final Fantasy 8, I played the PC version of it, and it was horrible.

FFVIII is one of my favorite FFs. The character models, unlike the ones in FFVII, fit the story. They are more realisticly proportioned than the FF7 characters and make the serious story actually carry weight. FFVII charaters were just cartoony.

I disagree with FFVII being 'the best RPG ever made'. It was awsomely good, no doubt, but it had too many flaws. Choices for character models are just one of many.

I say the same thing for IX. The characters were just too cartoony. A serious story requires serious and realistic characters and character models. Otherwise it's just cheesy.

FF VII was the first 3D one so yes ther are some character model problems. but who cares. It still has the best Charactrs, story, Ultimate Vilain (AKA Sephiroth), Summon (AKA Knights of the Round) while VIII had a story taht is sub parto the other Final Fantasy games, a horrible way of getting gil, and a main charcter who is a chap reproduction of Cloud.

I liked all the ones I've played. :) FFVI up to FFX-2. VII - X are the only ones I've finished though.

I wont argue that Sephiroth wasn't cool. He was a complete badass... Possibly the best villan in any game that I've played. The characters got on my nerves, though... Especiallty the one dud who did 'big shot'... I don't remember his name...

I hope you know that that's not the only way to get gil in FFVIII. And the SeeD tests will let you rise in SeeD rank... Max is rank A (31), and it gives you around 50,000 gil.

Also... Exactly how is Squall a cheap rip off of Cloud? Really, I want to know. I do see some similarities, but I'm not really seeing what makes Squall a rip off...

He has a sword and spiky hair. But then again, generally, the main characters in any FF game have a sword and spiky hair. It's one of those things common to all FF games. Just like there's always a Cid. ;)

And you're thinking of Barret.

No, Squall has a gunblade. Cloud has a huge ass sword. They are completely different weapons.

A gunblade is just a sword with a gun in it. It's used as a sword in combat, with the added ability that you can shoot your enemies as you strike them.

I would really call it more of a 'short sword', but my point still stands. Even if the gunblade is a sword like weapon, it's still completely different form Cloud's sword. It shoots, Cloud's sword doesn't. Calling Squall a copy of Cloud because their weapons both cut is stupid. Most of the other main characters in FF must be a copy of Cloud because, well, guess what? Most of them wield swords (or short swords).

Why else is he a copy? Is that and 'spiky hair' your only points? Or are there other ways? Hmm? Speak up!

I wasn't the one who said he was a copy. :p And my point holds. Every main character of any FF game generally has spiky hair and wields a blade. Whether this be called a sword, blade, dagger, or whatever, it's still a blade. There's things that run common right thoughout the series, and this is just one of them.

IIRC Squall does NOT have spiked hair... it falls naturally around his ears and stuff, and it's not spiky... at all.

Exactly. Zell, Squall's friend, is the one with spiky hair. So there. :p

Oh yeah! And Squall has a cool looking facial scar! Cloud hasn't got one of those!
