This 304X104 map features the classical world, or in anycase, Brittian all the way to Japan....
i suppose this map is really set for around any time period.
Resources and what not are all set to standard on Conquests.

Talk about stressing the strategic importance of the Suez. :D

or does it? I'm at work and can't open it... does posession of the suez create a link to the east from the med?

most diffinitely... i think it would be important for post industrial age games =)
gives something to fight over down there.... seeing as how after 650 ad egypt lost its importance for a while =(

This is soooooooooooooo cool, and i noticed that it is the map from the genghis khan series by KOEI! :D

Quite the undertaking, Kyriakos! It would be interesting indeed to play an ancient game where China has the chance to come into contact with the Hellenistic kingdoms (they missed the Bactrian Greeks by a mere 10 years) or even Rome.

I did notice a couple of things. One was that you have two Portuguese start areas, one of them being in the area of Calais, and the other is that the area between the Persian Gulf and the Caspian Sea is awfully narrow. Ok, three things: I'd also have to agree that there are too many resources.

Yes, there are a few starting location mistakes. The Portuguese starting location north of France should be the Netherlands. The Aztecs instead of the Koreans are placed in Korea, and the Koreans are in Austria. Also, I would remove the American civs and the Zulu entirely, but that isn't so important.

This map should solve many of those problems, when Europe colonizes Russia. I agree Hrafnkell, the meeting of the Hellens and the Chinese would be awesome. Also, trade routes across Asia will be more important because automatic connections across the Eastern Hemisphere with a harbor were too unrealistic. Thanks, artemisarrow.

Can you make a bix or bic version for this map?

The map itself is beautiful and great, I love the proportions, Europe is actually big enough to have more than 5 cities which I've noticed in basically every Earth map, even the huge ones out there. Although I will probably redo the resources and start positions, as I don't agree with a few of the locations, especially the Indians and Celts.

Why don't you make one yourself. Don't say anything about the map being too stretched until you actually see the map in the actual game, not the minimap. It is probably the best sized map I've ever seen for this game.

Really great map. Pretty much exactly what I was looking for.

Is there any reason you chose a width of 304? As long as you're making it big, why not go all out and give it a width of 362? With the same scale, that would make the map 362x124. 40% more tiles, I know.

Actually, I would push a little beyond that. While you've got all the classical world covered, a little bit of expansion (up through most of Scandinavia, down through Indonesia and Ethiopia) would pretty much cover all of world history before the voyages of discovery. So I guess I'd suggest something like 362x160. That would be, in my opinion, the perfect map. (Of course, that's about 80% more tiles than you have, although most of the vertical expansion would be ocean, desert, and tundra.)

I guess I consider such a map ideal because I would consider my "dream" scenario a scenario that runs from around 300 BC to 1500 AD, where colonizing Alpha Centauri is replaced with colonizing the new world. With the level of detail this map would allow, you could manage 31 starting positions easily, and you could have a much wider range of unit movement speeds (think light Mongol cavalry with a move of 5, fast infantry with a move of 2, et cetera).

OK, enough pie-in-the-sky for one post. Great looking map.

nice map. i don't care what anybody says. i like the amount of resources. the few mistakes on it are easily corrected. funny thing though. when i went to save it, the biq disappears from my computer. the second time i downloaded and saved it, i actually watched it disappear from the folder. strange. well anyway, it works if you save it as something else. keep up the good work.

thank u very much, i made it because i really wasnt sure what i wanted to do, the map was inspired by a map i found in a historical atlas, the map was called, fall of the classical era, rome to china... really any senario can be played here, the reason i made it 304X104 is because i like can only play maps with a ratio of about 200 by 200, and since it is more a horizontal map than verticle... well.. ya know.. one thing i did do which i found could help others... is strech your maps vertically... that helps make up more distance when u have to cut things out horizontally... i had to cut alot out, but at least i was able to keep the good parts, has anyone used this yet?

Awsome map! It would be awsome to play a game around the historical time of the hellinistic kingdoms which could meet up with china and india in the east. or maybe an earlyer version where you could conquer an even larger empire than alexander did in real life that would be awsome!

I made a cool Post-Classical Era Scenario with this map.
Arabia spreads Islam in all the right places; but, they always bypass the Byzantines and get to Europe via the Caucaus Mountains and Russia. It is so cool playing on this map.

Edit: 100th Post!
