Here's a set of three fantasy maps. They're based on acnient map by Eratosthene ( -195 ), Hecateus ( 600 ) and Werner ( 1675 ). Obviously, these maps are false, so please don't tell me "Scandinavia should have more forests" or "Japan should be more in the north" or even "you forgot America". The point is to design the map the way they saw earth, not the way we know it is. I think it could be funy to play on these very strange maps :D

Cool.
Have you seen the map Amenhotep made, also based on Hecataeus'?

"Strategy & Tactics" magazine actually published some strategic-level board games based on historical (read: not entirely accurate) Roman maps. It is a very interesting idea indeed.

Yep. I made Hecataeus' map as well, 256x256.:smug:
But I simply adore these. I've been considering making a few ancient maps again myself.:)

I've been asked some other hitorical map for a mythological greek mod. I'm going to work on these. I'd like to find some other maps from other civ : China, Azteks, Egyptians,... It could be pretty cool.
I'm happy you enjoy it :)

I love this idea! Unfortuantly, I don't play user created maps. If theres' no mod with it, and I already know the map, it feels like cheating to play it.....
