This first post will list all the unit requests and who's making them (i'll make some) I'll also reserve a few threads for previews and such.
This thread is also for discussion of the units stats, concept developpement, basically anything to do with units in the mod :D
So, have a request? just post a picture, a name, and give as much info as possible for discussion on how it can fit into the mod :)
If your unit is not listed here, post it and it'll be included!
For everyone participating in the mod (there is still room) please post your 2 unique units along with some description (picture is best) ALSO! please post the stats for the unit along with special abilities, what it REPLACES etc...

RedAlert - The Voyager - Replaces scout. Requires coyotes (my special resource). Has attack and defense values, and settle ability. 4 population, 1/2/1, treats all terrain as roads, twice the cost of settler

COMPLETE RedAlert - Royal Marines - as I've decided they will replace the Marine. Has a boosted defensive value (pehaps even a slightly higher offensive value, perdy please?) Treats all terrain as roads. AI strategies offense & defense. Raise/lower shield cost as fit if overpowered/underpowered.
I'd also like it to have stealth attack and/or build forts and roads ability, but I'm not sure if that's asking too much.

What I need is the Wavian Warship that replaces the caravel and is 3-1-3 and costs 40.(Carries 2 as well) I do not know exactly, but basically I just want a heavily armored(with wood) ship that has an arrow attack, and it needs to look somewhat like a Privateer, only a bit more bulkier, and without any markings on the sails, and like I said, an arrow attack.

ocpsd: I have absolutley no idea! Make somehting that looks like an early space warfare unit. Also, the only weapons on it are five laser guns on the bottom used for bombarding the planet.

I uploaded the correct Lycon model... Couldn't get the skirt-thing to work. Sorry 'bout that; not very good at modeling. The cape will look more really when finished (i.e. in a different position, haven't started posing yet). I added a sword, pike, gold armor on chest and legs, and changed the fur color. If the fur isn't right, also sorry :p. I'm not very good with textures either (just learning this stuff, don't usually use textures), but I think if I had a map of the face texture, I could probably do it. Anyway, horse is to come next, then animations.

EDIT: Oh yeah, I also made the ears longer, and more pointy.

BTW: This unit (the Lycon Cataphract, I think) was requested by Husky, in case you guys were wondering.

Would anyone do my 2nd UU - the Voyager = the Iroquois Brave with a coyote running along side him. Preferrably, though this Iroquois man is armed with a rifle or throws a tomahawk (or both!) the coyote of course, just nips at the enemy's legs.

Viking Yeti, You forgot the Lycontine's tail. Did you miss it on the concept drawing? The legs are in a wrong position, as he is supposed to walk on his toes (this would involve making the foot into another part of the leg). The fur has to have some variation (white to dark grey). There is armour on the arms (make it a metallic grey).

Omega, If you're setting the space destroyer up as a civ 3 air unit, you can use the Yamato spaceship and still get the bombing attack.

How? Simple, really. For Civ III air units, look at the bomber's .ini file. You'll see that the bomb attack is listed under the victory animation, and further, if you open it with FLICster, you'll see that the bombdrop animation is just a bunch of bombs falling.

The way it works in game is that when you order the bomber to bomb something, it plays the run animation simultaneously with the "victory" (bomb dropping) animation, so you see the bomber fly over and a bunch of bombs fall. So all you have to do for the OCPSD is set it up as an air unit with a hefty operational range, immobile, etc, and then edit the EDF Yamato.ini file so that where it says "victory=..\art\units\bomber\bombdrop.flc" or whatever the path to the bombers bombdrop animation is, and presto: the OCPSD will fly over and bomb the living snot out of the enemy.

Hope that simplified things a bit.

The Cuerpo Marino del Justo first appeared as the "Continental Marines" during the 28 Year War on the Northeastern Continent, formed by a resolution of the Justo Congress on November 10, 1775. They served as landing troops for the recently created the Armada de Justo. The Cuerpo Marino del Justo were disbanded at end of war in April of 1783 but reformed on July 11, 1798. Despite the gap, the Cuerpo Marino del Justo celebrate November 10 as the their official Birthday.

Since its inception, the Marine Corps has had a reputation for combat prowess, and the role of the "Cuerpo" has expanded significantly. Currently, the Marinos serve as an all-purpose, quick-response task-force, suitable for quick insertion into areas requiring emergency intervention, and capable of utilizing ground, air, and sea elements. The strict and intense training of the Justo Marine gives it a defensive advantage against its foreign counterparts.

it'a an existing unit made by kal-el (grunt)

also, i would suggest that any UU be comparable in stats to the unit it replaces. none of this 20A/20D. major imbalances in the game if you ask me

EVERYONE, check the first few posts, if you unit isn't in the list then I (we) need you to post it.
If you unit doesn't have any sort of description (or an unsatisfactory one) and you want to describe it then that's needed too, concept art will get your request onto the 3rd post:devil2:

Also, I'd say that if some unit is going to have some intense stats, it ought to be extremely expensive to build so they're much harder to mass.

the last thing i'd want to see would be bananas on skateboards (doh!) wiping out my well-trained Cuerpo Marinos.

2 questions to the mod makers:

should I:
a.) start a new thread for any and all civilopedia entries so that i can compile them?
b.) set asided that massive resource.pcx sheet so that we may add to it?

Yes:

Arashi Commando, same base stats and resource requirements as TOW infantry, but treats all terrain as roads, stealth attack and amphibious assault (again, you can drop the amphibious assault if you think that would unbalance the game too much). Pictures below

P.S. Omega, if flying overhead while dropping a buttload of bombs doesn't look like a bambardment, then I don't know what does. :rolleyes:

On the Rise of Rome conquest, there was an upgrading Legion unit (only the stats changed, the graphics remained the same). The same is on the Sengoku conquest with the Shogun.
If a stat upgrading unit is impossible then I'll remove the second stats.

Wow, lots of previews...

TO Dease: Actually RedAlert wanted the Voyager, which was the Brave with a dog, and I suggested he just make an MUnit for it (if he doesn't know how, I could probably do it)

My UU's are Berzerkir: Same as the PTW Berzerkir, 'cept +1 attack, -1 def, and all terrain as road; Norman Kinght: someone made really good graphics for this unit, those would be fine, same stats as knight ('cept requires same tech as Berzerkir), and +1 attack, -1 mp, and all terrain as road...

TO Husky: I had already added the metal arm bands actually, just after the preview, and increasing the fur contrast should be hard. The Lycon Legion will be easy too, after I get the Cataphract done. I'll try to add the tail too.

So, in short, I get the Berzerkir and Norman Kinght; I will make the Lycon Cataphract, and Legion, and (if no one else wants to) the Voyager for RedAlert.

For the Turtle Van, it'll be a fast Mech Infantry replacement. - 2 Defense, same Attack as the usual Mech Infantry, but it should have +1 MP and Stealth attack, and Blitz too.

As for the vbraun Nuke... I don't actually know what that does... We bought a bunch of them from the Russians, which they're always trying to peddle this worthless junk to us Third World countries... The thing might not even work. I hear you might even need Omegian uranium to make it... then it'll REALLY be worthless. But at least it's better than that aircraft carrier Brazil bought from France :p

Ok, well here's a simple idea for a unit,
We rename the battleship "Thunderfall", increase the movement, and attack then we could have a thunderfall unit :D, then, someone PM all the mods asking them what unit they'd like to be and which stats should be changed, then we'd have lots of moderators units! :evil:

Kulade [resourse] is a luxury that adds 1 food and 1 commerce. Once you have it, you can build Kulade Factories, which make a Kulade man every 10 turns [5/2/1]. With Economics, you can build a Kraft food small wonder which adds a kulade factory in all cities. With Synthetic Fibers you can upgrade Kulade man to [12/8/1].

that is WAY too overpowered! you'll win in the medieval ages :eek: anyways, that's 2 units right there, the pimp'd be a third. tone it down a bit! :p

how 'bout this, kulade wonder, buildable anytime with access to kool-aid resource, wonder is exrtemely expensive ~700shields, auto produces a 12/5/1 kulade unit ever 40 turns, this would make the kulade kinda like the "star" of the battle (like greek titans) also, due to its low defence it could be killed by a few knights fairly easily :)

Hmm... I haven't even thought of that yet - I've always had trouble giving units stats in the past, so any suggestions? I'll tell you about my units:

Voyager - Replaces scout. Requires coyotes (my special resource). Has attack and defense values, and settle ability (so I guess it would be more expensive, but not too expensive, because it does require a resource, right?)

FEF Infantry - Very strong modern unit, has around equal attack and defense (so should it replace TOW Infantry?) It should also have a bonus such as quicker movement, or ignores movement cost through all terrains, or stealth attack? Something like that as it is the expedition ary force.

how 'bout this, kulade wonder, buildable anytime with access to kool-aid resource, wonder is exrtemely expensive ~700shields, auto produces a 12/5/1 kulade unit ever 40 turns, this would make the kulade kinda like the "star" of the battle (like greek titans) also, due to its low defence it could be killed by a few knights fairly easily :)

That could work. In my Final Fantasy mod, I have a Mage tower city improvement that produces 1 Mage every 15 turns, and costs 270 shields. The mage has 20 attack, 16 bombardment and 2 movement, but only 4 defense. That way one of the 5-3-1 Paladins, 4-4-1 Gladiators, 5-3-2 Chocobo Knights, 7-5-2 Dwarven Battle Wagons, or the 7-5-2 airship can defeat a Mage, provided they can get the first attack in.

I'd suggest 12-4-1 for the Kulade man, so Medieval infantry (or my Arashi Ninjas), Knights and Longbowmen have a good shot at taking these guys down.

I've been uncovering some lost unit requests in my travels through the old thread while making the library. I'll post them here as I find them.

All I need is some Arabic/Indian looking rifleman wearing a green vest, white pants, and a black turban and then voila.. the Mustela Infantry.

Pre-Civilopedia Information on Mustela Infantry:
Emir Bajjin Aldul Yevor I set up the Mustela (which means weasel in Yevoric) Corps before the Battle of Merev, one week after the proclaimation of the Emirate of Amtsa Yevor.

The Mustela Corps at Merev comprised of 6,000 soldiers and laid a strong offensive on the enemies entrenches. Each soldier was equipped with a bayonet fitted rifle, two bullets, a spear, and officers were given swords. Early in the morning the Mustelas fired their two shots, and charged the enemy lines while throwing spears towards the Merevans, which had comprised of 18,000 men. The Merevans had fired two rounds before falling back into their entrenchments. The fearless Mustelas fought their way through with their swords, spears, and bayonets while chanting their holy scripture. The remainder of Bajjin I's forces attacked Merev and by noon the battle was won.

The Mustelas were nearly wiped out by the end of the battle but within the next year grew into a force of 10,000 men, now better equipped and armed. Mustela Infantry were the pride and joy of Amtsa Yevor's military force and when Bajjin II finally united all of the penninsula into Amtsa Yevor thirty years after Merev he turned the corps into the Emir Gaurd where they are still in service today.

UU=Mustela Infantry or Emir Gaurd

1700-1800's era rifleman with a green tunic, white pants, black boots, and a black turban. Add some gold to it and kind of make the turban a bit more helmetish with a visor perhaps.. (optional). Make sure to have a short spear strapped to his back.

Other possible UU: Ruz Cavalry

Horse archers with scythe like weapon. Such cavalry was used by the Kagaz Ruz and Hagaz Ruz alliance. They began as a religious order to farm and protect the fertile plains which was considered sacred and was the source of their religion. When the Dark Age of Yevor began in the early 1500s, this warrior-monastic order held off enemies from all around them. With the Mrinab, their agricultural tool and efficient weapon, as well as some bows and arrows, the Ruz Cavalry would fire several volleys and charge into enemies hacking them down like they were wheat. Ruz Cavalry posed a threat to Amtsa Yevor when it went on it's crusade to reunite all the lands of the lower Yevor penninsula. However, with the capture of Kagaz Ruz by sea, the Ruz Cavalry feared for one of their kings life and surrendered. The Ruz people were converted to Amtsism through their declining faith in their religion which failed them. The Ruz Cavalry was used by the Emirate's forces in the reconquist of Yevor. They kept their standard dress and weaponry into the early 20th century. By that time the religious order had dwindled greatly and their tactics had been long obsolete with machine guns, automatic rifles and other inventions.

The Ruz Cavalry wore the attire of a commoner but wore a large orange sash as well as golden masks. Their horses were usually bare except for a simple saddle and short reigns.

I've edited the legs, feet, added a tail, increased fur contrast (I'll probably do that again), and reposed hime. He lost some quality (the verticies were not fused together at the connections between the limbs... I had to go through and fuse those, which messed up some of the texturing; I'll fix it later)...

Posing tends to warp him a bit, but it looks reasonable, and I don't think anyone will notice it at a civ level (with full anti-allising)... I'll probably do the Leginairre first, since I won't have to make a skeleton for the horse for that.

EDIT: Now that I look at it, the legs (namely the feet) look kinda funny... I'll repose 'em for the animations.

He's kinda leaning over, so, from that angle, the neck is covered by the head. I think the head's shape looks different 'cause the mouth's open... Or maybe it's the angle. In any case, I didn't change it...

I've got the legion's skeleton done, and made the sheild (attached and all). Here's a preview.

BTW: Anyone know how much room we get for attachments? Just wondering...

Never played that, but I have a pretty good idea. I started on a unit with similar legs (in fact, the feet are edited versions of that animation's model), but some errors (on the net and on my drive) accidentally erased the files... The leg movement with that taugth me a lot. I'll post a pic of the run once I get it finished.

I think attachments can be a max of about 150 kb, so if you want to upload anything larger, you have to use Upload File at the bottom of the screen.
The Legionnaire look good, but what's that blue thing around the back and shoulders?

stats for both? I'd suggest that the your second UU replce the explorer, cost 4 populatioin, treat all terrain as roads, 3/3/1, is that good?

The FEF Infantry is completed. ;)

Edit: The Conquistador (PTW, Already Made) Is going to be an epic unit, replaces the explorer. It has the same stats as the conquistador in regular civ, but also requires coyotes, my specific resource. Requirements met, it can be built by everyone.

Evangelion VTOL- 14/14/2, Blitz, Radar, Ranged Attack, Lethal Land Bombard, Offensive Bombard of 6, comes with Rocketry, ignores ALL terrain movement costs, +10 shields.

TO RedAlert: Um... I wasn't making these units. This is just an MUnit dude :p... I did try to make them closer though (didn't work too well, I tried to make 'em closer, but then they get too close in the other directions). The dog only seems to bark, and I have no idea how to put sounds together (i.e. dog barking and Brave hitting), so I just used the Brave's sounds.... If someone could make sounds for the voyager, that'd be great.

TO Dease: Thanks for the info and compliment :D.

BTW: To RedAlert, the reason I'm not a cut&paster is if I were to add a gun to every animation that be... 15 frames x 8 animations = 120 pics to be edited. You can see why there aren't many cut&pasters anymore (especially since I found OpenFX, it's awsome).

I think I remember them doing that on one of the older episodes of ATHF. Ignignokt(the big one) is civ-specific.

Ok this unit is done (I think). It hasnt been tested in game but it looks ok in flicster.
Oh yeah those people who are easily offended by vulgar gestures should delete the fidget flc. It shows the mooninites doing what they do best(flipping the bird but is kinda hard to tell if you havent seen the show).

I was the one with the norman knight, check out my nation in the Library, it has the stats there. Thanks to kulade for finding the graphics, sorry I didn't (never even thought about that :p).

Anyway, since there's been some confusion about the berzerkir unit I have, I might go for this unit below. A advanced, synthetic exo-skeleton infantry. This is if I get finished with the Lycon Cataphract and Legion early enough to have time to make and animate this guy before this mod comes out/is too far along, and would require too much work.

The drawing was a sketch I did in about... 10, 15 mins (?). He also has a gun, which would probably be included in the animations.

BTW: The compression lost some quality, but it's still TWICE as large as the telsa tank below... Even though it's a black and white drawing. Freakin' background, wish I could get rid of the paper background. Oh well...

A preview of the Lycon Run (as you can see, I love previews :p; makes sure I don't do anything outragiously stupid and have to go back and completely re-render EVERYTHING), still rough, but I'll 'perfect' it later. I'm dying to start on the attack; I wanna see that wolf cut someone up good :D.

Both the AttackA and AttackB, and animated in only 1 hour :D... This is going much faster than last time. The AttackB still looks a bit quick, but you shoulda seen it before I slowed it down; he was freakin' superman... Eh, er... Superwolf (kinda looks like it too, with that cape ;) )...

3) Plutonians only make a very small amount of sense in a Mooninite civilization

The Plutonians really don't have anything to do with the Mooninites. In fact, they're somewhat antagonistic... they only teamed up once, and the Mooninites ended up getting pissed off and firing their mega-laser beam thingy...

I realise that.. that is why I said Plutonians dont really make much sense in a Mooninite civilization. I think I must have been asleep when I posted the original set of UUs. Although in my civilopedias the mooninites, under slightly more competent and aggresive leadership, subjugated the Plutonians due mostly to Plutonian stupidity. And, looking back on that episode, I realise now that I completely screwed up the Mooninite Assault Squad's attack...seems I need to watch that episode more often :lol: I originally intended this civ just to be a ATHF alien civ but couldnt think of any decent name so I just called it the Mooninite Empire and decided that they subjugated the Plutonians.

at any rate, Ill probably make a Mooninite ship unit anyway but Id have no idea how to use it in-game. :hmm:

Anyway, first post updated a bit, and the Dease SHT will be released tonight:D (no more of this - :spear: ).

ALSO, I've gotten two positive responses from moderators regarding being units :D (they said they'll think waht the wanna be) the other two still haven't responded.

EDIT: @ A viking yeti - those attacks look great! but he looks like he's skipping in the run :crazyeye:

If you also notice it also looks like he's cutting his foot with his sword when running. I think it would be better if the sword moved in a stabbing action (like in Age of Empires).

My only unit - The Duelist.
Armed with a large dueling pistol and rapier. (I think there's a unit already.) Very high attack power, the Great Hattery spawns it every 12 turns.
I think there's a duelist out there, or maybe I'll find the man-at-arms...

TO Dease: Thanks for the pic, that should help. I think the problem's I'm not using enough keyframes to make it move properly (it just goes from one positon to another, and in between the legs move funny). And thanks for the comment, the first trying was messed up (looked like he was attacking himself!).

TO Husky: Yeah, I was thinking about that. I might just redo the entire run animation.

Hey, If you guys want, you can add my Death Machine mecha as an epic unit, except call it the Takayama RFV (robot fighting vehicle). Just give it slightly weaker attack and defense than the Modern armor, 1 less movement, and the same cost, but make it so you don't have to pay upkeep for it, or if that's too unbalanced, just have it ignore movement cost for all terrain (except swamps and volcanos). I'll post a link to the preview thread later, after I make an update there (I've finally got the Attack A animation finished).

Oh, make it available with robotics, and require either aluminum and oil or Iron and oil to build

Speak for yourself, Hikaro; I redid mine in just 2 hours :p. And to think, I did the attacks, victory, fidget, and default in just 1 :rolleyes:. Anyway, thanks a lot Dease, that animation really did help. I had the toes uncurling too fast before they hit the ground, and some graphical glitches at the begining and end of the animation ("graphical glitches" as in "my screw-ups" :D).

Here it is (it's from the side, the other view didn't show the right leg very well). Tell me what you like, what you hate, and what you think... Or don't, whatever :). Lets see, how many more emoticons can I fit in here :lol:...

EDIT: Whoops, forgot to move the cape any. Oh well, please ignore that.

Yeah, but unlike OpenFX and most other mesh type 3d programs, Bryce doesn't have a skeleton system. The best I can do to emulate something like that is what I've already done, namely linking objects. Basically, the ball joints connecting the legs to the body (nothing more than a simple sphere, really) are linked to the main body, so If I rotate or move the body, the spheres move with it. The cylinders making up the uper legs are, in turn, linked to the "hip joints", and the spheres making up the knees are linked to them, but with one difference: they will follow the rest of the upper leg, but will not rotate. The reason for this is that the lower leg, is linked to that, so I can move the body and rotate the hip without the lower leg rotating to wierd angles (but it will still follow the rest of the body, and maintain contact with the rest of the leg). The ankle ball is linked to the lower leg in a similar fashion, and the foot is linked to the ankle. Basically, this will allow me to animate this guy in a kind of claymation method, but it's going to take a while to get right.

If you really want to know, it took me about 4 hours to get the attack animation right. Animating 7 individual missiles so they don't pass through each other or collide was a real pain in the butt. The good news is that my next animation, the Attack B (W-Machine gun) will be realatively simple, since I've already done a similar animation on my first unit.

Requires iron, doesn't require maintenance.


The Grinter is a modern, fast, flexible infantry unit with a red uniform and a strong rifle. The creator add whatever he wants: but it should look like a modern commando.

The Herithaner is a normal Greek-roman styled swordsman with a light armor. I can use for him Firaxis' legionary, Kinboat's centurion or Kinboat's Achilles if you want.

I can actually make this one myself if nobody with actual skills wants to try it out- I'll just paint Piernik's covert ops units black and spray transparent color over it. :D

In openfx all youd ahave to do is find a model with only greyscale colours and set the transparency to something like 5 and just make the unit like you normally would

@ AVY - better, but still looks like hes skipping :( if you don't have a program that can view gifs frame-by-frame then DL neopaint (use google ;) ) it works very well, I think the problem is that his leg movements are too uniform and he doesn't bounce enough,
sorry if I sound picky :(, just trying to help, but the current one would probably be acceptable at civlevel if you wanted it to be :)

i can understand those who take up requests (may God bless them) but what about the ones that are sitting out there? we could be waiting quite a while if these unwanted requests just sit there.

btw, nice job to all the CFC Users Mod unit creators. if it weren't for you guys, this project would not have the legs that it has :-)

someone could jsut make a generic unit that says CFC MOD and all units that don't have graphics yet could just be linked to that, so that we could have a working version before all the units are made :)
But most of the UU's are units that already exist, only the rather strange ones will take awhile to get made

Since you're going to have the Takayama RFV replace the Modern Armor, here's a few changes/more info for the unit.

First, the base stats:
