Request Of The Candidates
Can each of the candidates post a screenshot of the Ancient Age Tech Tree Screen, highlighting the Techs we have already attained and showing out projected path by any means you see fit (arrows, lines, numbers, whatever). Please make the screenshot a width of 800 pixels. Best one gets my vote! Thanks.
Black_Hole Aug 24, 2004, 08:35 PM As request of Sir Cyc:
I will have ingame pictures tomorrow with lines or something else i think up.

Code of Laws(Courthouses)
Philosophy(Required tech....)
Feudalism(1 step closer to chivalry[Pikemen, Sun Tzus...])
Monotheism(Another step closer to chivalry[cathedrals])
Chivalry(Samurai!!!)
They rest depends on how much war we are in.

Astronomy(Corpernicu's Observatory[Awesome Wonder], Caravel)
Banking(Closer to democracy)
Printing Press(Pre req for democracy)
Democracy(great peacetime government!)

Middle Ages Tree:

Note:
I will also add the middle ages tech tree, because I plan to reach that age during this term
And I WILL have in game trees tomorrow with lines or something...
Also sorry Cyc but they are 759 pixels wide, tomorrow i will make the real ones exactly 800 and compress them(i hope)
Any other questions or requests?
Cyc Aug 24, 2004, 09:36 PM Actually, BH, I show them as 880 width and 895 width. They are just fine. Even though they are slightly bigger than normal, they still fit within my monitor without using the slide bar at the bottom to see the whole picture or read the text.
Excellent work. Well put together.
ravensfire Aug 25, 2004, 10:08 AM To all candidates for Minister of Science:
1. What do you see as the 3 most critical techs for the upcoming term?
2. What will you do to reach those techs?
3. How do you plan to determine the research queue? How often will you poll?
4. Why should I vote for you?

1: Chivalry, Monarchy, and Literature(explanations above)
2: Research ;) , but in other terms, I will persuade the public even though I will poll every tech.
3: Above(in 2)
4: Science is actually one of my strongsuits in the game(I dont have many)

1) That is VERY hard to answer, it all depends on how the game turns out and what we decide. If we plan a fairly peaceful game, then techs like monotheism and banking will be more valueable, whereas war would cause chivarly/engerneering to become more valueable. Overall I believe that the three most important technology's will likely be: Engeerneering, Banking, and Chivarly. Why? Chivarly gives us our UU, Banking allows us to build, as the name suggests, banks, and Engerneering because of the bridge upgrade.
2) I will likely scarfice peasents to please the gods for they would give us the knowledge. Really? Not much I can do except point out why we should go for them and argue over why it's more important.
3) If I am elected, then I will likely determine our research queue not based entirely on science polls, but other departmental polls also. The immediate techs we research will be put together by a citizen majority, the end of the queue (which should cover an entire age) will be decided by what our current goal is and what we need, but of course will be changed as time progress's.
4) Why should you vote for me? Easy enough, you shouldn't.

@ #4  You could at least try to win, science isnt that bad of a department
Strider Aug 25, 2004, 06:16 PM @ #4  You could at least try to win, science isnt that bad of a department
I never did say science was that bad of a department, you have to remember that I was science leader in most of DG1 and DG2 (I was it for 7 months in a row, or 7 terms). I wouldn't have spent a year working in the department if I thought it was bad.
blackheart Aug 25, 2004, 07:08 PM Question:
What are your priority techs for the Medieval Era?

Strider Aug 25, 2004, 07:12 PM Question:
What are your priority techs for the Medieval Era?
Mine would be Economics easily, for the one main reason that Smiths can help you earn ALOT extra, with the free marketplaces/banks/airports/habors. Also we have to research Banking on the way to it, which should increase our gold reserves.
Overall though, it's really hard to say. Priorities change, and another tech that is on my mind is Chivarly to get are UU, of course that is just off of the Economics line, so we can easily grab it.
Black_Hole Aug 25, 2004, 07:13 PM Sorry about getting this late Cyc, today was my first day of highschool :(
This image should be correctly sized...
Instead of drawing lines I just queued the tech order. Do you want a version of this for the medieval era?
http://www.civfanatics.net/uploads8/techs_BH.JPG
P.S. Thank-you cyc for pointing out how large the image should be to fit in, I will size it to that starting now :D
Cyc Aug 25, 2004, 08:36 PM Black Hole that's perfect. Good idea using the numbered queues for our future path.
P.S. I hope you're feeling better.
Immortal Aug 25, 2004, 08:47 PM Decline...
Civanator Aug 25, 2004, 11:05 PM Hey Strider, don't forget who helped you get to those terms as Science Leader in DG1 ;). My question for the candidates:
Considering the fact/opinion that some departments, mostly it was deemed Science and Culture, 'Don't have enough to do during a term,' what would you do to get the Science department more active, whether it be starting discussions, posting statistics, or taking polls, or do you have your own plan to keep the Science Department busy and not having virtually nothing to do for a term?

try to do some interesting things like rm did ;)
