i am using a Civ III map that i have created a scenario over that took many hours to create. However, i have observed that this problem is *not* specific to this scenario, but it has appeared in other games as well. The earth map seems to have a bug in it between the continents of the America's and Asia, at least on the standard sized map. The problem is that if a jet gets shot down while attacking, it will freeze the entire game, and jets and other air craft that attack in this zone disappear from the map, and all one can see are the bombs dropping. This is a serious issue.

Is there a fixed map out there somewhere that i don't know about? And if there is, is there anyway to "import" setting from one scenario over the fixed map that would keep me from having to create the scenario over again from scratch? If not, a fixed standard map of the earth would suit me just fine.

Are you sure its the map and not the game itself? Can't comment on the Mac version, but early PC patches of civ3 had an air supiority bug very similar to this. Have you patched to the latest Mac patch version?

What version of Mac Civ3 are you using, what computer, speed, RAM etc... all the usual info....

I must admit I've never heard of this error before. If it's happening in other games (presume you mean regular Civ games from scratch, not user-created scenarios?) then it sounds like it's either the machine, or the install of Civ3.

1.29b2, MDD dual 1ghz Powermac, 1gig Ram, GeForce Ti Graphics card, PCI ATI 7000 Graphics Card, Apple 20" Monitor, Two ViewSonic Monitors.

It has happened in games where i have used the standard earth map. Is there another one out there that does not have this bug?

I really don't think that it is map-specific. There shouldn't be anything in the way that a map ios put together that can cuase this, so I'd say its some sort of bug. I doubt its even hardware related :(
