This is a great additon, specially for the Vietname mods. Plus, it was probably the most apreciated sight for US soldiers during the Vietname conflict W.i.n.t.e.r Aug 29, 2004, 08:33 AM Ah perfect- I just realised that this was badly missing :) Rufus T. Firefly Aug 29, 2004, 08:39 AM Hojotoho! Hojotoho! I can have my Apocalispe, now! W.i.n.t.e.r Aug 29, 2004, 08:45 AM Hojotoho! Hojotoho! I can have my Apocalispe, now! These didn't appear in that movie... ocedius Aug 29, 2004, 09:42 AM These didn't appear in that movie... Still, a vietname mod without this would be like a bagle without cream cheese. :D ripptide Aug 29, 2004, 10:44 AM mmmmmm cream cheese thanks all ) Dom Pedro II Aug 29, 2004, 10:48 AM Hi! Great looking helicopter! But I'm not incredibly informed about helicopters... can we get some info about this particular one for the laymen? :) Btw, cream cheese rocks! :D Mr. Will Aug 29, 2004, 11:21 AM Cream cheese... gross. Butter all the way! YEEEHAW! (puts on "Dixie" and starts squaredancing.) Anyway, great unit. Transport heli I assume? Could it carry a howitzer? little_cyclone Aug 29, 2004, 11:26 AM Great unit riptide! As always! Keep modding! Dom Pedro II Aug 29, 2004, 12:35 PM I seem to recall seeing a helicopter like this lowering a howitzer into the jungle on Mail Call.... :hmm: maverick_mw Aug 29, 2004, 02:00 PM Some info I've found for you all... http://www.nasm.si.edu/research/aero/aircraft/sikoruh34.htm http://www.shanaberger.com/H-34.htm Goldflash Aug 29, 2004, 02:30 PM And Riptide Returns with bookoo units! Hoo-ha! Kingpin Aug 29, 2004, 04:00 PM Excellent, ripptide. :) Hikaro Takayama Aug 29, 2004, 05:31 PM Yes, a most excellent unit for any late cold war era scenarios, and if I might add... *bratatatatat!* Get some! *Bratata-tata-tat* Get some! *Bratta-Brat!* Oh Yeah! *Bratatata-tat* I got you right here brother! :p Aluminium Aug 29, 2004, 07:42 PM Great heli! Thank you. :goodjob: unscratchedfoot Aug 29, 2004, 07:45 PM Yes, a most excellent unit for any late cold war era scenarios, and if I might add... *bratatatatat!* Get some! *Bratata-tata-tat* Get some! *Bratta-Brat!* Oh Yeah! *Bratatata-tat* I got you right here brother! :p The chopper doesn't appear to be armed. ;) ripptide Aug 30, 2004, 06:34 AM The Choctaw was primarily a medium transport (ie yep it could sling a howitzer underneath) and also as a troop carrier. It was also used (in it's Seahorse incarnation) as a SAR helicopter. This version isn't armed, but both the Marine and Army could be armed with rockets mounted on the landing wheel supports contre Aug 30, 2004, 06:39 AM Ah, the reason you're my favourite unit creator: You're nice enough to write out the Civilopedia and PediaIcons entries. Plus your units are amazing :goodjob: BeBro Aug 30, 2004, 06:41 AM Cool heli. This type was btw built during the 60ies under license in the UK as Westland Wessex, equipped with one or two turbo engines IIRC, and widely used (still in use during the Falkland war in the Royal Navy), also exported. Hikaro Takayama Aug 30, 2004, 08:41 AM The chopper doesn't appear to be armed. ;) Sheesh! Am I the only one here who's seen Full Metal Jacket? Besides, my great uncle was a gunner on one of these things during the Vietnam war. He provided fire support during rescue missions. Even though he doesn't talk about his experiences during the war very much, he did tell me once about how he could hear the bullets ricocheting off the back of his armored chair when they were coming in to medevac soldiers and marines. He also said, "Of course, all that did was give me a fix on their position when I started shooting back." :D Yes, like Lt. Dan in Forrest Gump, my family has fought in nearly every major war America has been involved in (but the people in my family have for the most part been lucky/smart enough not to get killed). John Falkner Aug 30, 2004, 09:44 AM Very good Sgt. ripptide, if you will do another break, I am waiting for my M3 Bradley (euro camo) :D cemo1956 Sep 04, 2004, 02:12 PM The Euro-camo Bradley most be a good one, then of course who will not wait for Ripptides version of the Jap early fighter A5M "Claude" to proceed the mighty Zero, and the G3M "Nell" upgrade to the very famous Mitsubishi G4M "Betty" bomber. Hoping they will come dropping in.... Cemo |
