I would like to bring to your attention that the current turnchat instructions say "check for profitable trades on turn 5" but does not say anything about doing them, not doing them, or what defines profitable. It would be helpful if ranges could be defined. :)

I also see that you want us to trade mysticism to the French (again)... :undecide:

Erm, I have done something since this tread had been established. I had posted the instructions for the last chat.

CG, your instructions have consisted of giving away our tech lead for mere shillings. Please hold discussions on these matters, or at the very least post a poll.

Giving away Polytheism for 25g is an outrage. This must be brought before the people.

Sorry,

Here is the discussion. I have been tied up with school as of late. I will promise to hold discussions after the latest save is posted.

I humbly request Trade look into getting Map Making, 9 gold, and Territory Map from the Iro in exchange for peace.

Open the save and try to renegotiate the peace deal (or, rather, sign peace with the Iroquois, and select techs - but don't press enter). That is as far as you can go into exploring the save.

i know, im not even shur why we have that clause, because you can jus put stuff on the table and your advisor will tell you

Of course peace negotiations ultimately rests with the FA, not trade.

I have checked this with the Iroquois and it seens that this trade is defenately possible. Ill send this to the FAs since this trade is dependednt on treaties. :)

The Domestic Department also highly approves of this Peace Deal. (Gives us more time to colonize the Anduin Vale. ;) )

Domestic has found an alternate way to get Mapamking from the Romans, at the cost of Poly (5th) and 13 Gold which the Domestic Dept. would gladly donate, were it not for this breakthrough deal.

Another deal I would like the Dept to look into is giving France Mathematics 6th for 40 gold (out of 50) and their World Map. This should be an excellent deal, revealing the Northern Subcontinent!

Another possibility is giving Romans Poly 5th for 70 Gold and their World Map, but don't know if we should... dependant on whether we can hold our swords for 20 turns

Finally, the DD wishes for the Trade Department to investigate each deal separately. No "1 deal only every 200 years" stuff.

I like both of these deals (even tho I'm not a Trader). As it looks like the peace initiative with the Iro's will pass the vote, war will end and our approval rating will rise. As we've already given Poly away in trade, we should reap any other benefits we can from the research. Mathematics to Joan, which would inevitably get there from Shaka, will round out the deal at 110 gold and 2 World Maps.

SD3, I believe because the deal with the Romans would not entail any per turn arrangements (like a resource or luxury deal), we would not receive any ding points for attacking them, therefore we wouldn't have to hold our swords. :devil2:

I'm guessing the French have a lot of room to roam. Remember, they're commercial, so if they DO have a lot of room, that spells trouble when the tech race REALLY heats up. Why? More gpt for science. Remember Greece in DG2? Semi-isolated, huge, and had TONS of gpt!

Now that you're back Honorable Minister CG, can we get some assurances that there will be no more crazed trades like mysticism for 25g?

I'd like to ask the trade department to investigate the viability of:
Gems to Babylon for 7gpt
Horses to Babylon (once the ones near Bentropolis are connected) for currently 6gpt

could give our economy a boost

Sir Donald III
Sep 22, 2004, 11:50 AM
No Horsey Trades! No, No, No!

The Gems for Gold trade... Hm... It could help keep the Babs out of the war... giving us one less potential enemy...

CivGeneral
Sep 22, 2004, 12:45 PM
I am against trading anything that would benifit our rivals incase we ever go to war against the babs or any civ w/o horses.

Giving gems to the babs would help us gain a profit, but IMO, the gpt is a little on the cheap side.

Update: I have checked the bab trade.
We Give They Give
Gems 6g + 6gpt

I'm requesting from the trade department to not squander our Feudalism tech monopoly; nor to buy the Babylonian monopoly tech Monotheism. Please only consider trading techs if our monopoly is broken or if 4 nations have Monotheism.
