This is my first time trying GOTM. I've downloaded and installed all 5 of the updates from the earlier games, and I am running Classic 1.29f. I reinstalled the original resources.pcx and resources_shadows.pcx, and the game worked fine, with a few of the improvements (stock exchange and The Internet) having no pictures associated with their improvement icon. The problem started the first time I won the Space Race. My whole system froze when the movie was supposed to kick off. So I nixed the space race and went for a Domination victory. Got that, but the game crashed on the following error:

Missing Entry in "text\pedialcons.txt": HURTN_RACE_PERSIAN

I then nixed the Domination victory, but the game ended on a cultural victory on the same turn, with the same resultant error message.

Not sure what to do. I assume it has to do with what the various beaten races say to you on the game end screen, but I have no idea how it happened, as the Persians were suitably chastened in my last regular game. If anyone else has run into this, I would greatly appreciate any advice on how this may have happened. I'm going to try to fix it using a reinstall of the "text" directory from the disk, if I can, but last time I tried it wouldn't let me access the game folders from the CD without a complete reinstall, which would mean reinstalling the updates, which I presume would again corrupt the same folder. ANYway, let me know if you've seen this error before.

Welcome to cfc and the gotm series, loser! :D. your playing style does not seem to be very pathetic, as you achieved a space race vic.

Your kind of problem appears every so often, especially with newly (re-)installed gotm add-ons. Your error seems to be connected with the infamous PediaIcons.txt file in the TEXT folder.
You could try the one contained here (http://forums.civfanatics.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=56896). you don't have to install all of that mod pack, just pick the 'pediaicons.txt'. It *should* support all tribes, unmodded and modded for gotm.
you have probably finished gotm34 - Zulus. I suppose you can submit your Space Race Vic, because you achieved it first, and you should not get a disadvantage in score because of technical problems in your winning turn ;) (the early victory usually scores higher).

There is a pediaicons.txt file linked to this post (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showpost.php?p=2120230&postcount=41). Try this one - it has a lot of bugs "fixed". I hope....
