View Full Version : RPG Mini-Game: Murder at the Temple!
Octavian X Sep 05, 2004, 10:21 PM This mini-game is sponsered by the Temple of Furuyama. (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=97494)
This little game is similar in style to the Mafia games played in the other games forum occasionally here at CFC. The premise is simple: Of the group of players, one or two are chosen (secretly) to be the 'Mafia.' Each 'night,' the Mafia sends a PM to the game master, indicating one person among the group he wishes to murder. Each 'day,' the murder is discovered, the group of players attempt to deduce whodunnit. The players vote for whom amongst themselves they think is the Mafia, and in a sudden flash of justice, he with the most votes is murdered by the players. Of course, the players won't always be right. The game continues until either the Mafia is killed by the players, or until everyone other than the Mafia is left standing.
For the purpose of our mini-game, there will be some differences:
One, we will use your RPG character (though, this game affects nothing else - even if your character is murdered here, it won't count anywhere else).
Two, players will be encouraged to roleplay the entire affair. There will be a setting (my current idea is that players will play the role of guests at the Temple of Furuyama).
Three, when the Mafia does kill someone, a story will accompany with the details of the murder. Clues will be placed in these stories, so read between the lines. :)
So, if you're interesting, say so here, and suggest ideas to make the game more interesting. Then, we'll start the official sign up after some opinions have been expressed.

Rik Meleet Sep 06, 2004, 04:43 AM I am interested.
Black_Hole Sep 06, 2004, 07:30 AM i might do it :)
Ankka Sep 06, 2004, 08:13 AM I'm in. :wavey:
Noldodan Sep 06, 2004, 09:20 AM Sounds nifty. Count me in. Now the question is: is the nasty assassin Internal Security officer a member of the Mafia?
Stuck_as_a_Mac Sep 06, 2004, 09:23 AM SaaMsan is so in. And he even has a crew! Miei Interni (as opposed to the famous Cosa Nostra, which I'd don (heh) if I had to)
edit: SaaMsan.
Age 21.
Occupation: Mild Manered Associate Trade Deputy Who Does All The Work, Gets None Of The Credit And Is Just Generally Pissed (see also: Postal Worker)
NPCs: 14 nameless interns, a flautist named Qui.
REAL Occupation: Crazy person.
Real Pave Sep 06, 2004, 09:38 AM Sign me in.
blackheart Sep 06, 2004, 09:59 AM Count me in.
Meta Sep 06, 2004, 10:10 AM If there are any positions left I am definately interested to take part.
BCLG100 Sep 06, 2004, 10:44 AM err i'll join but do we really need all these posts saying 'im in'? a PM would work just as well.
@oct nice temple advertising ;)
Civanator Sep 06, 2004, 10:44 AM Sign me up :D
JackA Sep 06, 2004, 01:19 PM Sign me up also.
snipelfritz Sep 06, 2004, 02:27 PM Oh boy I'll join. i've gotta get into the RPG forum more.
Octavian X Sep 06, 2004, 11:12 PM This looks good. :D
OK, then, we'll go on with my intended them: the guests of the Temple will be our poor suspects. To finish the sign up, just state the 'occupation' of your character. This is, of course, for the purpose of our RP during the game. :)
And, remember, only one character per poster. You may have NPCs around, but then it gets unfair if multiple people have multiple personalities.
Ankka Sep 07, 2004, 10:11 AM So... Ankka is someone who hangs around waiting for action... that can be often found around certain people, he has found out.
I think that was all...
BCLG100 Sep 07, 2004, 02:31 PM the purpose of my character is probably to go on 'wacky' adventures with SaaMsan and occasionally ankka and octavian V if they feel like it.
snipelfritz Sep 07, 2004, 03:23 PM My character is a thief. He is mainly a simple pickpocket/conman, but he is working on a major heist(But thats another story, coming to a forum near you).
Noldodan Sep 07, 2004, 03:35 PM Pretty stereotypical character: government assassin/interrogator/intelligence-gatherer, generally very unfriendly.
blackheart Sep 07, 2004, 03:40 PM My character is a soldier using his off duty time.
Nobody Sep 07, 2004, 03:53 PM all mafiasos are welcome to come to the Bada Bing
Civanator Sep 07, 2004, 04:53 PM My character is basically a rogue samurai looking for adventure. Very friendly, but also wary of others.
RegentMan Sep 07, 2004, 06:34 PM If it's not too late, I'd like to join. Here's my character's occupation, if the answer's yes: Hydrino Quatton is currently unemployed, but has an interest in the bow and arrow, whether in combat or hunting.
classical_hero Sep 09, 2004, 08:23 AM My Character is Wolfgansan and he is a musician.
Rik Meleet Sep 09, 2004, 06:26 PM Riko Anjin is a revolutionary.
Octavian X Sep 09, 2004, 10:39 PM First post updated with current players and their occupations for this game. :)
MSTK Sep 09, 2004, 10:49 PM Is it too late to join?
Some Player stats:
Myein is a recruited Swordsman in the Japanatican Army. He carries around his sword, a gift from his trainer Oshuni (controlled by the user JackA). His left arm has been sore from an archery injury.
Unoriginal and uncreative, but because the RPG hasn't been out for too long, it will have to do :p
Real Pave Sep 10, 2004, 06:06 AM My character is a part-time fisherman who just won the horse race in Legion Games.
BCLG100 Sep 10, 2004, 03:56 PM hey octavian have you picked a mafia yet? just wondering if we can get started soon.
Cyc Sep 10, 2004, 04:56 PM So how many people have been murdered so far?
~ A concerned reader...
blackheart Sep 10, 2004, 06:42 PM *jumps up behind cyc and thrusts 2 fingers into his upper back* This is not a gun, it is a very tall man :D
MSTK Sep 10, 2004, 06:47 PM The game hasn't started yet, CyC.
Octavian X Sep 10, 2004, 10:06 PM We'll start tomorrow. That's when our murders will be selected and notified. I'm thinking we'll go with two of them, since the list of participants is long enough. :)
CivGeneral Sep 10, 2004, 10:07 PM Well, since I missed the offical mafia game in "Other Games". Sign me up for this one :D.
MSTK Sep 11, 2004, 12:54 AM Two murders a "night"? :(
That's a little fast for me, especially with school. But if you have to, I'm fine.
Cyc Sep 11, 2004, 02:02 AM :D Ok, thanks!
JackA Sep 11, 2004, 09:57 AM If its not too late Jack Ijuno is a samurai and trainer.
Octavian X Sep 11, 2004, 07:14 PM Only one murder a night, thank you. The mafias will take turns, though they won't know who the other murderer is.
The final updates have been made, and our pair of murders will be notified via PM shortly. Sign ups are closed. Let the games begin!
Octavian X Sep 11, 2004, 07:32 PM The murderous duo have been notified. :)
And, a note to Meta and CivGeneral: I ended up making up the occupations of your characters for the sake of the game (see first post). Contact me if you want a change.
snipelfritz Sep 11, 2004, 07:40 PM Sorry, I guess I didn't say it, but my characters name is Zio. (no idea where I got that one from). So I guess you might want to change the first post to avoid any confusion.
CivGeneral Sep 12, 2004, 01:11 AM The murderous duo have been notified. :)
And, a note to Meta and CivGeneral: I ended up making up the occupations of your characters for the sake of the game (see first post). Contact me if you want a change.
I guess I could use the karate skills in the "Skilled Fighter" thingy ;).
classical_hero Sep 12, 2004, 11:01 AM The murderous duo have been notified. :)
This means that they might kill the other mafia guy and ruin the game. I think they should be at work together and see who they think should die. Does this make me one of them? :mischief:
BCLG100 Sep 12, 2004, 03:53 PM no thats the whole point, they have to not be stupid :) and yes it could do, Oct is it night or day?
Octavian X Sep 12, 2004, 04:25 PM Last changes made. The two won't know each other, so it'll porabably be their goal to kill on another off so they can be the only winners. :D
And with that - the game begins!
Evening, Day 0 - Murder at the Temple!
One by one, the guests came in from various other parts of the Temple to turn in for the night. Riko Anjin, a long-term resident of the Hotel Temple discussed his rather infamous revolutionary views with Wolfgangsan, Temple Musician, as both entered first into the grand lobby. Both waved to Octavian V, the Temple's Keeper, as they sat to continued what seemed to be a lively discussion. Wolfgang had a habit of loudly disagreeing with Anjin, catching the annoyed stare of the next person to enter, CivGeneral, who was headed to his room.
Next entered Ankka. Octavian greeted him as Ankka entered. Ankka revealed he was only in town one night for some business, and that he'd be leaving promptly tomorrow. He, too, went to his room.
A considerably larger group came into the lobby next. blackheart, Civanator, Jack Ijunio, ]Hydrino Quatton, and Myein came in as one group, united by a common fondness for fighting. The friends, staying at the Temple to relax and prepare for upcoming tournaments unknown, went to another corner of the lobby to discuss their latest achievments.
Next to enter were perhaps the strangest - SaaMsan and BCLG, along with an army of interns (whose names Octavian V never learned, anyway). Both joked back and forth, and with the other people in the lobby, generally generating a good amount of laughter. This noise annoyed the next entrant, Real Pave, who was in town on account of the good fishing reputed to exist in the Temple's spring-fed ponds. After Pave came Meta, a charismatic fellow, who, in contrast to Pave, enjoyed the merrymaking and often joined SaaM and BCLG in it.
As SaaM placed a fishbowl on his head for more roars of laughter, Agent Noldodan entered. He tried to join in the fun, but was sadly ignored, since he seemed just plain unfriendly by many of the participants. He ended up joining Anjin and Wolfgang in their debate.
Lastly, a shady figure entered - Zio. Nobody seems to know him, and rather than join the lively lobby, he skulked off to his room as well.
__________________
By 3:00 AM, the hotel quieted down. All were in their respective rooms, and most (if not all) were asleep. Octavian V himself was just about to shut his eyes and slumber, when he heard a loud chrasing noise, and subsequent yelling from down the hall. Figuring it was just SaaM and BCLG fooling around, he went to sleep.
The shock came next morning, when the residents realized that Riko Anjin had been murdered! His door, to room 14, had been banged at several times, and it had taken his assailent several tries to finally (and slopilly) force his entry. A swordfight had followed, as evidenced by the fact that nearly everything in the room had been turned over and sliced in some fashion. Though there was evidence of swords, there was no blood. Indeed, rather than using his sword, Anjin's killer managed to take him out only by way of knocking him rather hard on the head with a vase.
Octavian V immeadiated locked the doors, and told the guests that none would leave until the murderer had been found. This was to the anger of many, especially Ankka, who complained he had urgent business in the capital.
Now - who did it? Discuss amongst yourselves, and cast your vote. Remember - make your votes clear, and they are final (you can' change your vote). Only one vote per person. The deceased, unfortunately, won't be allowed to vote:D The one guest with the most votes will then be 'taken out.'
MSTK Sep 12, 2004, 04:26 PM OOC: Poor Riko :(
I think that you should make the first murder an NPC without asking the mafia as to not disappoint people who can't play at all
/OOC
Stuck_as_a_Mac Sep 12, 2004, 04:51 PM "And so the game is afoot." SaaMsan said, puffing on pipe as he fixed his tweed cap. "Someone has killed Riko. With a vase, it seems." SaaMsan turned to two of his interns. "Sean Watson! John Connery! Inspect Rikos room." Turning to the rest of the guests, SaaMsan explained that these two interns seemed to have an inate sense for finding clues.. whatever that meant.
After a long period of time that felt like nothing due to a cheesy cut-in, Sean and John returned to the rest of the crowd.
"Yo yo yo!" cried Sean.
"Sean is right" continued John. "We seem to have found a yo-yo. It might belong to the deceased, but its shiny. We want it."
SaaMsan groaned and pushed the 2 misguided interns away to go play Jeopardy. "Does anyone see anything, my good men?"
Does anyone see anything? And will the killer be found?
NOTE- The yo-yo is my invention upon realizing I accidently placed Sean John into the story (P. Diddy). It doesnt mean anything.
MSTK Sep 12, 2004, 04:55 PM No, no, you're supposed to say:
"Sean ish right," continued John. "We sheem to haf found a yo-yo. It might belong to the desheased, but ishts shiny. We want it."
Rik Meleet Sep 12, 2004, 04:59 PM That surely was a short game for me ...
CivGeneral Sep 12, 2004, 05:09 PM OOC: Poor Riko :(
I think that you should make the first murder an NPC without asking the mafia as to not disappoint people who can't play at all
/OOC
OOC: Sounds like a good Idea, though Im not sure how it can be implamented here and in the offical mafia games.
blackheart Sep 12, 2004, 05:27 PM Blackheart eyes all of the other hotel occupants warily. He suddenly realizes something.
"Most everyone here is a trained and educated specialist. The only ones that aren't are Real Pave the fisherguy, Ankka the ADD, and BCLG100 the overshadowd side kick."
A nearby shiny fruit fly catches Blackheart's eye and he goes off to chase it.
MSTK Sep 12, 2004, 05:34 PM OOC: When are our votes due?
Myein overslept, having made a long trek from the southernmost regions of Babylon, making this his stop on his way to Osgiliath. Awaking at noon, the groggy soldier walked to the lobby on his way out to eat when a guard stopped him. Instinctively, he unsheathed his prized sword a few inches, but slid it back into the sheath. There was no threat here.
"Excuse me," the guard said, "but nobody is allowed in or out of this place. A murder was commited earlier this morning, around three o'clock. Suspects are being investigated."
Murder? Myein thought, raising an eyebrow. Nodding, he dismissed the guard and walked towards the dining area of the temple. Whoever the murderer was, he would have to pay. Who knows how many days he would have to wait here before he could get to Osgiliath?
snipelfritz Sep 12, 2004, 05:38 PM Zio watched from a corner, as the two interns babbled about this shiny toy, and Saamsan ushered them out of the room. Zio stood up and said,
"It apears as though the late Riko and his assailant held quite a duel. One that lasted for a considerable time. Our killer was no newcomer to swordsmanship. He was obviously someone with backround, or perhaps a proffesion, that would require skills with a blade. The murderer knocked down the door, in quite a messy rough fassion. Perhaps he was someone of lesser strength or size, as there struggle to barge through. Now, the end of the duel is most peculiar. Riko was struck in the head with a vase. What happened to the swords? An answer to this I cannot hypothesyse(sp?). What we know for sure is that the killer is one of us, and is obviously skilled with a sword."
Zio, then, retreated to his corner once more.
Stuck_as_a_Mac Sep 12, 2004, 05:54 PM "A swhordsman, eh?" said John Connery, resisting all attempts by other interns to silence him. "Very very schuspiciouch."
With that, John was promptly gagged and thrown into a closet.
"Why don't we shut him up for now?" ask SaaMsan.
Every other guest in the temple nodded in agreement.
blackheart Sep 12, 2004, 06:51 PM "Interesting Zio, except that you forget the fact that all the skilled swordsmen here and everywhere else are neither weak nor small in size. And if he were so skilled with the blade then why was there considerable dueling? Only someone unskilled would have used the vase and got themselves into such a brawl in the first place. I would think that he must have been pretty large sized and strong in order to even knock down the door in the first place."
Blackheart whistles a nice catchy tune as he walks around the room continuing his thoughts.
((OOC: where do we vote at, by PM?))
MSTK Sep 12, 2004, 07:23 PM Walking out of the cafeteria in disgust, Myein looks into the murder subject once again. The guard that had blocked him earlier had been replaced, and Myein felt comfortable enough to ask him. "I hear there was a murder this morning," Myein started.
"You bet."
"Where was it? Maybe I can teach the murderer a lesson."
"Room 14," the guard answered. "It's still open for now, but I think the owner might close it off."
Wondering what it could be all about, Myein walked into the room, investigators crowding around it. He thought about letting someone locked in the closet out, but after hearing his insane accent, decided against it. Looking in the room himself, he found the incident terrible. Everything was cut up, and there was no blood. Pondering, he sat in a confetti chair and went through all the evidence. Finally, he announced his plan.
"Alright, everyone, this thing seems more serious than I thought. The biggest and most ominous question is: Will more be killed? I think so, because the killer seemed to have a motive to quickly finish him off. Had it been some sort of individual grudge, I would think that they would have had some kind of slow, painful, death, like a jab in the stomach, which would not have been too hard, considering the swordplay dancing everywhere. I also doubt an hired assassin pulled this off. None would be careless enough to knock down the sword. I don't know about you, but I don't want to be killed. I have great deeds to accomplish in the north, and I want to be out of here as soon as possible.
"All who wish to remain safe best meet me in my room, Room 18, tonight. I fear an insane maniac is about. Perhaps, in this meeting, we can finally do some justice. I can assure you that if you attend this meeting, and who you think is the murderer is correct, he shall be put to death immediately."
Myein concluded his speech, and stood in the doorway. Gathering his thoughts, he moved his eye over every person in the room. Which one could be the murderer?
Sighing heavily, the soldier walked out and crashed in his room, pouring over maps of the North.
(( OOC: The North is just another plot that I am currently in. There's a thread about it, and it has nothing to do with this thread. But I am making it so that this occurs between my Babylon mission and my North Journey. ))
Octavian X Sep 12, 2004, 10:12 PM Please vote in this thread - I don't have the PM box space for that many. :p When you do, keep it simple, something like...
Vote - John Doe
We won't have a due date for votes. We'll just let the votes come in until one result is conclusive (an unbeatable majority for one person).
Ankka Sep 13, 2004, 03:27 AM Ankka woke up in the morning, as he usually did, and went to the café to have some breakfast tea. while lazily sitting around and sipping the tea, he heard someone shout from the closet. Was quite a freaky accent. Very freaky, to be serious. Ankka asked the professional Temple Teamaker what on eath was going on. After hearing a rather scared - actually hysterical - explanation that Riko Anjin had been murdered last night, Ankka fell silent and started thinking.
"What is going on? This is weird... the Temple is supposed to be a place of safety and quiet." He thought to himself. "But it is surely annoying that they aren't letting me leave the area even though I had some stuff to do in the Capitol... Oh well."
Vote - Jack Ijuno
OOC:
<snip>
The shock came next morning, when the residents realized that Riko Anjin had been murdered! His door...
<snip>
I though Riko was a lady?
MSTK Sep 13, 2004, 08:53 AM Riko really is a lady
I think you have her confused with the character's user, Rik Meleet.
Rik Meleet Sep 13, 2004, 09:18 AM Vote - :suicide: ... Riko drops dead on the floor
BCLG100 Sep 13, 2004, 01:10 PM i thought there was 2 mafia's? do 2 people really hate rik that much:P
@blackheart, im also the 'ol grnadmaster samurai in another thread, possible a little more training than some :P
JackA Sep 13, 2004, 04:20 PM Why would Annka vot Jack Ijuno? He would never ever kill anyone except in wartime and that was different.
Vote-Wolfgangsan.
Jack Ijuno told Myein that he would go to the Room 18 Meeting.
blackheart Sep 13, 2004, 05:03 PM Vote - Real Pave
JackA Sep 13, 2004, 05:27 PM Jack bumps into Ankka who is peeking into Room 14 at the corpse.
Jack asked Why are you looking at Riko? Then somebody slammed the door on Annka and Jack. It was locked!
Jack said What Should we do?
Ankka said Shout For Help!
They started yelling and banging on the door.
snipelfritz Sep 13, 2004, 06:12 PM Vote-Myein
RegentMan Sep 13, 2004, 06:57 PM Vote - Real Pave
Hydrino follows his gut.
CivGeneral Sep 13, 2004, 07:08 PM Vote -> Vote - Real Pave
CivGeneral follows his gut feeling.
Octavian X Sep 13, 2004, 07:37 PM Many, many apoligies to the late Ms. Anjin. :D
The votes thus far...
Jack Ijuno - 1
Wolfgangsan - 1
Real Pave - 3
Myein - 1
To clarify: There are indeed two murders. Only, just to let the game last a little bit longer, and for a bit of a challange, the two will take turns. Murderer 1 did his deed this turn, and Murderer 2 will have a go at it next.
JackA Sep 13, 2004, 07:39 PM Now i vote:
Vote-Real Pave.
Stuck_as_a_Mac Sep 13, 2004, 08:42 PM vote- real-pave
Noldodan Sep 13, 2004, 08:56 PM Vote - Real Pave
MSTK Sep 13, 2004, 10:23 PM "Pave has not even shown up yet this entire day," Myein mentioned, as the others started filing in their votes. "It's very suspicious if you ask me," he quickly finished. "However, my vote goes to Pave, because, unfortunately, he shall be killed anyways by the will of the people, no matter what choice I make."
Cyc Sep 13, 2004, 11:21 PM So if they vote out the wrong person, then there is still two Murderers? Creepy...
MSTK Sep 13, 2004, 11:36 PM The murderers don't know who eachother are, either. I suspect that one is trying to kill the other...?
Octavian X Sep 14, 2004, 10:27 PM Real Pave has 7 out of 10 votes submitted. Since there are a total of 14 palyers remaining, no more votes may change the outcome.
So, the story continues. :)
Afternoon, Day 1 - The First Judgement is Passed
Each occupant considered the evidence, and votes trickled into the Temple Keeper's office. 10 came in - 4 were missing, presumably becuase they wanted no part in the farce, only to leave. Real Pave, half the guests believed, was the murderer.
Octavian sent two armed guards to Pave's room. They quickly, quietly, caputred him, took him to the top floor of the hotel overlooking the ocean below. The whole way, he gained stares by his constant yelling. "IT WASN'T ME! I DIDN'T TOUCH HER! LET ME GO!"
The guards gave on final push, and the poor man flew into the sea below.
OOC: Just to keep everyone in suspense, we won't specify who the two murders are until both are dead. :D
Evening, Day 1 - The Second Murder Strikes!
As a cautionary move, to the disappointment of many, the doors remained locked to ensure that the killer was indeed caught.
Ijuno was let out of Room 14, and Anjin's body was cleared away. The room was cleaned up and left vacant.
Night fell, and the hotel occupants were still up. Ankka and blackheart stayed awake, both too anxious to sleep, fearing they too might be murdered in the night. Guards were posted in the halls, and residents instructed to ensure that their doors were locked (though, for the inconvience, room service was provided for free. Zio, in particular, took care to use this service to the best of his advantage.
As the full moon rose in the sky, an uneasy silence fell over the hotel. No one stirred, and even those who chose to stay awake out of sheer nervousness didn't make a sound.
3:00 AM came, and passed. But, at 3:58 AM, a scream was heard. A blood-curtling one that had woken up the entire building. The noise was gone almost instantly. The guests rushed to where it had come from - Room 19, that of CivGeneral. He was dead - a quick slit to the throat. No signs of intrusion. CivGeneral had struggled, it was evident, for only a moment, and then was dead.
Morning came again, and the voting started...
MSTK Sep 14, 2004, 10:44 PM Poor CG :(
RegentMan Sep 14, 2004, 11:32 PM Awww, not CivGeneral! You will be missed!
JackA Sep 15, 2004, 08:13 AM Awwww! Bet its fun to be murderd! :P Vote-Ankka
Ankka Sep 15, 2004, 11:34 AM Now... CG voted for Real Pave, so he can't have murdered CG because he was lynched.
I bet it might be Hydrino.

BCLG100 Sep 15, 2004, 01:22 PM
i vote SaaMsan, simply because he is hardly playing and wont really take much offense to this :)
Stuck_as_a_Mac Sep 15, 2004, 02:39 PM BCLG, I take offense from that! I am no murderer, merely a quite wacky bystander.
Anyway, on to this rounds investigations with the un-dynamic duo, John Conery and Sean Homes (under the direction of SaaMsan, of course (who is not, repeat: NOT, a murderer)
"Now, it couldnt have been Real Pave, as the killings continued" said Sean in a Ghettofabulous voice. "They'd have stopped if it was him, dawg."
"Youre quhite right, there" replied John in a famous Scottish brouge "It it were Mr. Pave, CivGeneral would have never been killed. Now, theres shomeone else in here that is doing it. Shomeone very schusphicious."
SaaMsan ran down the stairs. "I thought I locked you two in a closet..."
Sean and John bolted out of the room, rapping as they went.
"Anway" continued SaaMsan "whoever did this had to be skilled with small weapons, and was friendly with CivGeneral. They did not break in, obviously. But who?"
PS- BCLG: You're so hurtful! :sob:
CivGeneral Sep 15, 2004, 02:46 PM The ghost of civgeneral pops in and tells everyone to find the mafia and avenge my death :p.
snipelfritz Sep 15, 2004, 03:56 PM vote-Ankka
MSTK Sep 15, 2004, 05:36 PM "SaaMsan, I question your conclusions," Myein replied, rubbing his chin. "The murder this time seems to be made by a completely different person! For one, they did not break down the door. There are no books in this temple that will let you learn how to in one night. Second, there is no swordplay visible, save for a finishing cut to the throat that was delayed by hand-to-hand fighting.
"There is only one possible result: There are two murderers."
JackA Sep 15, 2004, 05:38 PM Jack whispered to Myein,I think the two murderers could have been Annka and Wolfgansan.
Noldodan Sep 15, 2004, 06:18 PM I vote for SaamSan. He seems very intuitive in his logic... Inside information, perhaps?
RegentMan Sep 15, 2004, 06:51 PM Vote - Zio
Hydrino can assure you that he is not the murderer. He hasn't used any of his arrows, as he is waiting to use them on the temple lawn after this is all over.

Octavian X Sep 15, 2004, 09:55 PM So - two for Ankka, another two more for SaaM, two for Hydrino, and one for the thief Zio, as well as more haunting by the dead members of our party. :p

blackheart Sep 16, 2004, 05:37 PM Vote - SaaM
Just because I hate John and Sean
Stuck_as_a_Mac Sep 16, 2004, 08:51 PM Hey.. just because 2 of my 14 interns are annoying isnt any reason to vote for me as a murderer.
Seriously. Voting me out as a gag isnt funny, guys.
SaaM
Who will drop Sean and John if everyone hates them.
Octavian X Sep 16, 2004, 10:53 PM I knew I forgot to mention something. No vote changing! We'll allow it this round since it wasn't clear, but starting the next, all votes are final.
Thus far:
Ankka - 2
SaaM - 3
Hydrino - 3
Zio - 1
JackA - 1
MSTK Sep 16, 2004, 11:55 PM Whoever voted for Saam change their vote to Hydrino, so we can get on with the game.
Noldodan Sep 17, 2004, 05:29 AM To break the tie (and because SaaM seems angry) I change my vote to Hydrino.
Rik Meleet Sep 17, 2004, 06:09 AM The Ghost of Riko just flew through a wall. Several people saw a glimpse of it. Perhaps some wíll think this is a bad omen, an omen for another murder ???
Stuck_as_a_Mac Sep 17, 2004, 07:28 AM SaaMsan, a bit peeved that people wanted him dead just due to two annoying interns (they were supposed to be Sean Connery and John Holmes), has decided to lock said interns in the closet.
But he needs help.
Any takers?
Ankka Sep 17, 2004, 08:11 AM You're gonna lock them in the same closet?
Ankka wondered aloud as he heard what SaaMsan was gonna do to get more popular.
BCLG100 Sep 17, 2004, 02:48 PM /me noticed how the dead rik (cant remember actual rpg name) seems to be spending a lot of time messing about when he should be dead ;) :p leaving all these criptic clues :D
RegentMan Sep 17, 2004, 06:31 PM Oh jeez, Governor! I accidently voted for Kerry during yesterday's, November 2nd's, elections. I change it to Bush, just to let you know. Please make this change!
Octavian X Sep 17, 2004, 11:12 PM Like I said, no more changing after this round.
Ankka - 2
SaaM - 2
Hydrino - 4
Zio - 1
JackA - 1
It isn't conclusive yet - two more new votes (two people, iirc, haven't voted) could still change the result.
classical_hero Sep 18, 2004, 10:32 AM After the shock of his Good friend Riko Anjin being dead, Wolfie finally has calmed down for the shock.
"I am realy desturbed that someone would want to go after her. She was a realy sweet person. Sure some of her views were a bit revolutionary, but she was a good friend to me. While we did disagree at times, we always had a great time discussing our views. My thinking is that the person who did this to her was very was very sloppy. I will get revenge for you sweet Riko for the real killer. Poor Real Pave. I'm glad it is him rather than me who was lynch mobed. But alas another person has been killed. Poor CivGeneral. Whoever killed him must be very good because he was the best fighter I had ever seen. So who is the murderer? The mob has spoken and think it Hydrino who killed CivGeneral.
My vote is also for Hydrino
MSTK Sep 18, 2004, 02:49 PM Well, that's all the votes.
Octavian X Sep 18, 2004, 09:16 PM Afternoon, Day 2
Another day passed, and the attitude of the guests was somewhat lighter - the wine they had been drinking was getting to them. Votes were passed in, and it was Hydrino Quattron who would next fall from the top of the Hotel.
Evening, Day 2
Zio, satisfied with the crab he had just finished eating in the hotel restaurant, shuffled up toward his room for another good night's sleep, with his plans for his next big heist put off for another day. No matter, he though, there's always tomorrow.
As he walked down the halls, he noticed the door to suite 15 conspicously open. He gave a knock, and, hearing no reply, stepped timidly into the room. As he entered, he uttered a scream, a sound not uncommon to the Temple Hotel. Jack Ijuno, who was also in room, however, said nothing, for the simple fact that he was dead - hanging from the room's chandelier.
Octavian V would, after calming Zio, investigate. It was meant to look like a suicide: calm, contemplative face on the victim, suicide note ('Goodbye, cruel demogameworld'), etc. Octavian, though, was unnerved by the fact that no apparent means for the hanging took place - it was obviously 'assisted' in since there wasn't a way for Ijuno to have gotten the rope around his head and the light without a chair. There was a chair in the room, but it was in it's proper place in the corner of the room.
Another thing: this room never has had a chandelier. None of the guest rooms did. How did that get there?
Ijuno was the victim of a murder, pure and simple.
But who did it?
Like I'd tell you! :p
MSTK Sep 18, 2004, 09:23 PM Poor Jack :(
My mentor and trainer. I shall avenge you!
Ankka Sep 19, 2004, 04:02 AM It's Myein.

JackA Sep 19, 2004, 09:21 AM The ghost of Jack Ijuno pops in and says Avenge my murder! :P :P
Please find the murder that killed my character! :D
Stuck_as_a_Mac Sep 19, 2004, 11:58 AM Who among us has the skills to fashion a chandelier in short notice?
And why a chandelier? Why not just any other light fixture...
Hmm...
SaaMsan ponders what this could mean.
And why is Zio distraught so easily? Could he have something to do with it?

Character name: Justinsu
Occupation: None, studying to become a bowman
Octavian X Sep 20, 2004, 12:47 AM Thanks for your interest, Justinian, but I'm afraid that the dynamics of the game would be messed up if we allowed late entries. You're free to join in the next Mini-game the Temple sponsers. Or, better yet, you could be asked to fill in should one of our players become absent. :)
And, in regard to my own character - Octavian V is completely neutral, just there to keep the story running. He is immune to being killed, and cannot kill anyone, nor can he vote.
RegentMan Sep 20, 2004, 01:55 AM Hydrino's ghost is upset that he hasn't been honored with red text in the first post! ;)
Rik Meleet Sep 20, 2004, 06:21 AM The ghosts of Riko and Civgeneral welcome the ghost of Jack Ijuno.

snipelfritz Sep 20, 2004, 09:15 PM As the guests sat around and the votes were begining to be tallied, suddnely, in a puff of editing error Ankka disapeared.

Octavian X Sep 27, 2004, 11:56 PM Afternoon, Day 3
As with all the others, Myein goes over the cliff. He was a real loudmouth about it, though...
Evening, Day 3
Night settled once again over the dreary hotel. Octavian V settled in with a book, and an orange for a nighttime snack. As he opened his novel and navel, a noise unlike one he had heard before rang all throughout the halls of the hotel - an opera.
Octavian rushed to the source of noise, only to find Civantor dead. He'd been tied to a chair and bludgeoned to death - all to the tune, he later found out, to the opera "Tristan und Isolde."
Who did it this time?
classical_hero Sep 28, 2004, 03:52 AM For the first post. Perhaps there could be some differentiation between those who were murdered and those who killed in an act of revenge.
Next entered Ankka. Octavian greeted him as Ankka entered. Ankka revealed he was only in town one night for some business, and that he'd be leaving promptly tomorrow. He, too, went to his room.
What sort of business would Ankka be looking for? Could it be that your business was the art of murder?
Noldodan (rather unfriendly goverment agent) - Riko Anjin (revolutionary)
Who would want to kill a revolutionary, but a Government agent?
CivGeneral, Civinator, and Jack Injuno are dead. Someone must not like all these fighters and samurai masters. Maybe the killer is someone who hates them because they might steal the limelight from him, or maybe that person just hates anyone who is of a military leaning.
So here is what you have all been waiting for. The guy I think is the mafia is Noldodan.
Ankka Sep 28, 2004, 08:21 AM Noldodan hasn't said anything really.

Ankka Sep 29, 2004, 07:52 AM Thank you, MSTK, for confusing me and trying to vote out your dead presence. :p
.You did notice that he voted for himself? :p
BCLG100 Sep 29, 2004, 12:58 PM im not dead am i? good who else is there left to die, sorry ive been busy with school for awhile, is ankka still alive? saamsan?
Ankka Sep 29, 2004, 01:26 PM Go check the first post, the situation is there. :p
But yes, I am alive and so is SaaMsan...
Stuck_as_a_Mac Sep 29, 2004, 02:18 PM I'm still here and kicking (and singing showtunes, as shown 2 pages back)
Noldodan Sep 29, 2004, 02:29 PM I'm voting for Wolfgangsan. Stinkin' music...
Why vote for me? Would I be that stupid, follow a pattern like that? Besides, aren't there two killers, meaning the pattern theory is kinda off anyway...
classical_hero Sep 29, 2004, 06:51 PM I'm voting for Wolfgangsan. Stinkin' music...
Why vote for me? Would I be that stupid, follow a pattern like that? Besides, aren't there two killers, meaning the pattern theory is kinda off anyway...
Finally he speaks. A bit of retribution, eh. :mischief:
MSTK Sep 29, 2004, 07:26 PM "wolfgang = music = opera" is myseriously written on a chalkboard by a ghost.
Octavian X Sep 29, 2004, 09:22 PM Noldodan - 3
Wolfgangsan - 2
SaaMsan - 1
6 out of 8. One more vote for Noldodan will do him in, two more for Wolfgang will surely be his end, and SaaM is in the clear.
classical_hero Sep 29, 2004, 10:54 PM Noldodan - 3

PM those who haven't voted yet, it might remind them that they still have to vote.
Stuck_as_a_Mac Sep 30, 2004, 01:17 PM That is if they are still here...
I mean, if they're still part of the game, that is.
blackheart Sep 30, 2004, 02:07 PM That is if they are still here...
Some sort of premonition eh :p
Civanator Sep 30, 2004, 08:28 PM Hey I'm dead! 2 posts and i get killed...
MSTK Sep 30, 2004, 11:06 PM Civinator, I've always wondered what you avatar is. It looks like someone swimming through the ocean.
Octavian X Sep 30, 2004, 11:26 PM BCLG100 and Meta have yet to vote. Both will soon have PMs. :D
Ankka Oct 02, 2004, 03:47 AM Well? I don't think we should let some away-being players halt the game.
Octavian X Oct 02, 2004, 09:07 PM We'll give 'em until tomorrow. If they don't post, it's curtains for Noldy.
Stuck_as_a_Mac Oct 03, 2004, 10:42 AM Its tomorrow now.
Curtains?
Ankka Oct 03, 2004, 11:05 AM Goodbye Noldy.
Welcome victory for the citizens.
Octavian X Oct 03, 2004, 10:42 PM Afternoon, Day 4
Off Noldodan sails, into the wild blue ocean...
Evening, Day 4
Nothing happens. The appropriate killer needs to contact me! We need a victim!
RegentMan Oct 04, 2004, 12:02 AM Wow, Noldodan gets only one line. The death lines/story seem(s) to get shorter and shorter. ;)
Ankka Oct 04, 2004, 09:13 AM Perhaps someone cut off Oct's fingers so it's hard to write?
Octavian X Oct 04, 2004, 04:35 PM *sigh* If only I had me thumbs back...
Anyway,
Evening, Day 4
Noldodan's death left many shaken - if one of the Fanatikese government could not protect himself, who would protect them?
Guests retired to their rooms once again. BCLG and SaaM, far from their usual antics, were also subdued. Tonight, they went to sleep without their usual fair of jokes/mocking of interns (though they did gag and tie up one, for laughs, before they went to sleep, though neither found it as funny as they usually did, given the atmosphere).
It was around 4 AM when Octavian smelled something burning. This wasn't unusual, given that the hotel was in a temple. Still, Octavian, complete with bunny slippers, went to investigate.
He followed his nose to BCLG's room 26, where he identified the odor as incense. Octavian pushed the door open...
BCLG was dead! He was perfectly petrified - in a kneeling position, hands folded, all as if he were praying. A sheet of Requiem in D minor (K626) was also found on the deceased's bed.
Ankka Oct 05, 2004, 12:41 AM It's either Wolfgansan or SaaMsan, I'm sure about that.
SaaM has made up so many weird things those killings are understandable.
Vote - SaaMsan
Noldodan Oct 05, 2004, 02:38 PM Never mind...
Stuck_as_a_Mac Oct 05, 2004, 02:48 PM This is far outside of my realm of weirdness, though. I never dabble in religion...
I think it's Wolfsgang. With Nold dead and the music killings still going on, it has to be him. I think if we outs him, we might successfully oust the Mafia.
Besides, why would I kill someone in my own room? Waaaaay too messy.
classical_hero Oct 06, 2004, 11:06 AM Why does everyone pick on me for these mafia games? This would have to be a religious thing. This Requiem in D minor is what a monk would listen to. This looks like the work of Meta.
blackheart Oct 07, 2004, 08:33 PM Oh come on! CLASSICAL music was playing when BCLG died! It's obvious this is the work of Wolfgansan
Vote - Wolfgansan
snipelfritz Oct 07, 2004, 08:44 PM Suddenly Zio found himself awake after five days in a comma. After gathering the facts he votes
Vote - Wolfgansan
classical_hero Oct 08, 2004, 01:12 AM BCLG was dead! He was perfectly petrified - in a kneeling position, hands folded, all as if he were praying. A sheet of Requiem in D minor (K626) was also found on the deceased's bed.
There was no music playing, just sheet music there. Anyone can buy sheet music. Notice the position that he is in, a prayer like situation, i.e. A monk prays, not a musician. Requiem is a mass for the Dead, again the matters of a Monk. Obviously some people do not think properly. :goodjob:
Stuck_as_a_Mac Oct 08, 2004, 02:32 PM It appears that there aer enough votes to condem wolfgang.
But wheres Oct?
SaaMsan
Octavian X Oct 08, 2004, 02:48 PM Wolfgangsan - 3
SaaMsan - 1
Meta - 1
That's five votes out of six remaining...
RegentMan Oct 08, 2004, 02:55 PM Dun dun dun!
blackheart Oct 08, 2004, 03:24 PM There was no music playing, just sheet music there. Anyone can buy sheet music. Propeganda!
classical_hero Oct 09, 2004, 12:50 AM Propaganda!
It is the truth.
EDIT. I had to correct you poor spelling. If you want me gone, you must do it the right way. And I'll go out the right way, kicking and screaming, and pleading my innocence all the way to the cliff top, and singing of everyone's impending doom!!!!
RegentMan Oct 09, 2004, 12:52 AM It is the truth.
See, he admits that it's propaganda! ;)
classical_hero Oct 09, 2004, 01:09 AM See, he admits that it's propaganda! ;)
About what I said. :p
Ankka Oct 09, 2004, 02:37 AM Blah blah. You clearly said the propaganda was true. So, your post was propaganda. :p
Luckily fo you it is allowed in games like these.
classical_hero Oct 09, 2004, 06:09 AM Notice this is the report of Octavian V.
It was around 4 AM when Octavian smelled something burning. This wasn't unusual, given that the hotel was in a temple. Still, Octavian, complete with bunny slippers, went to investigate.
He followed his nose to BCLG's room 26, where he identified the odor as incense.
So tell me, does a musician use incense? The answer to that is no. Only monks would use incense. Another reason why Wolfgangsan did not commit the murder.
Ankka Oct 09, 2004, 07:57 AM Don't try to deny the obvious. :p
blackheart Oct 09, 2004, 09:50 AM Propeganda, propaganda, it's one letter and you obviously understood the meaning, so why the insult of my grammar?
Read Octavian's post again, given that we're in a temple, why would incense be unusual?
Stuck_as_a_Mac Oct 09, 2004, 09:53 AM I agree with blackheart here. Incense is common in a temple, but anything in D Minor isnt. D minor isnt exxactly the cheeriest of keys. I seriously think only a musician would put leave that there. Plus, remember the opera in the last one?
My vote is still for wolfsgan.
RegentMan Oct 09, 2004, 03:31 PM Propeganda, propaganda, it's one letter and you obviously understood the meaning, so why the insult of my grammar?
If you're refering to my post, I hope you didn't take it that way. I was going for classical_hero's statement that it was true that it was propaganda.
blackheart Oct 09, 2004, 04:04 PM It is the truth.
EDIT. I had to correct you poor spelling. If you want me gone, you must do it the right way. And I'll go out the right way, kicking and screaming, and pleading my innocence all the way to the cliff top, and singing of everyone's impending doom!!!!
I was referring to this post RegentMan, not yours. Funny thing is he made grammatical errors too.
RegentMan Oct 09, 2004, 10:46 PM I was referring to this post RegentMan, not yours. Funny thing is he made grammatical errors too.
Okay, I didn't see that edit. The last thing I wanted to do was to insult anyone.
Since five out of six have voted with the votes 3/1/1, isn't that enough to convict a kill?
Octavian X Oct 10, 2004, 01:19 AM Wolfgangsan is indeed comdemned, but I've yet to get the message from the mafia indicating the next victim.
Ankka Oct 10, 2004, 01:21 AM Which means it wasn't Wolfgansan.
Vote - SaaMsan.
blackheart Oct 10, 2004, 11:19 AM Which means there's 2 mafia guys.
Stuck_as_a_Mac Oct 10, 2004, 11:22 AM Which means there's 2 mafia guys.
that has been stated since the begining. How do we know that both Mafia men are still not in action?
And why am I the scapegoat here? The latest murder hasnt even been done and youve voted for me.
blackheart Oct 10, 2004, 11:30 AM I still believe it's Wolfgansan, but my suspicions are also on you too Saamsan.
Ankka Oct 10, 2004, 01:47 PM Hmm... Who is the Monk guy?
I doubt It's SaaM... oh wait, could be, he hasn't posted for a while so he could have been away and not sent the killing.
Stuck_as_a_Mac Oct 10, 2004, 01:53 PM Hmm... Who is the Monk guy?
I doubt It's SaaM... oh wait, could be, he hasn't posted for a while so he could have been away and not sent the killing.
So because I was inactive, I managed to organize a mass plot to kill everyone?
That doesnt make any sense...
Why the need to accuse?
Is Ankka hiding something?
Octavian X Oct 11, 2004, 12:00 AM Afternoon, Day 5
Wolfgangsan, as he was led up through the hallways, sang an eerie melody that rang throughout the halls of the hotel.
"Dies illa, dies irae, calamitatis et miseriae. Dies magna, dies magna et amara, amara valde."
Octavian recognized the words from Requiem found earlier near the dead body. As Wolfgang fell, Octavian translated the haunting words quietly to himeslef: "That day, that day of wrath, calamity and misery. That terrible day, that terrible and exceedinly, exceedingly bitter day."
Evening, Day 5
That night, for their safety, all the guests were locked securely within their rooms - unless the doors were forced open, all would be stuck in their suites. If anyone left his or her room, Octavian was sure he would know.
For once, they all got a full night of sleep without the interruption of a killing. Octavian went to unlock the guests. SaaM, blackheart, Meta, and Zio had all stayed in their rooms. None had tampered with their doors. Octavian unlokced Ankka's untampered door... and found him dead! Ankka had put up an obvious struggle, but he was no match for the samurai sword his assassin apparently used, since it was left sticking out of the bed.
Ankka Oct 11, 2004, 01:32 PM So... I voted for SaaM and I'm killed.
But don't think so. It might be someone bluffingmmhhhp... **mouth is forced shut by some others who said dead don't talk, not even in a game**
blackheart Oct 11, 2004, 04:49 PM Oh sorry I read that entire passage wrong
Vote - Saamsan
snipelfritz Oct 11, 2004, 07:30 PM Um, we just killed Wolfgangsan.
Vote-Blackheart
Civanator Oct 11, 2004, 07:47 PM It obviously has to be SaaMsan now...
Stuck_as_a_Mac Oct 11, 2004, 08:23 PM I agree with Sniplefritz. It has to be Blackheart. Who else here could get their hands on a samurai sword other than an actual soldier? Plus, I was locked up for the night. There is no way I was able to leave my room and step over 14 interns and not make a sound. It couldnt have been me. I'm just the vicitim of a smear campaign. But, I'm used to it (I am a liberal after all)
SaaMsan
blackheart Oct 11, 2004, 08:53 PM Hello, everyone was locked up. Octavian knows who the killers are. If it were me I woulda killed Saamsan cuz I suspect he's one of the mafia. Let's see, who did Ankka vote for....SAAMSAN!
snipelfritz Oct 11, 2004, 09:05 PM Hello, everyone was locked up. Octavian knows who the killers are. If it were me I woulda killed Saamsan cuz I suspect he's one of the mafia. Let's see, who did Ankka vote for....SAAMSAN!
Exactly the type of thing a killer would say :hmm: :p
So that leaves the vote to Meta.
blackheart Oct 11, 2004, 09:12 PM Haha  If I do survive and WERE the killer I would so get SaaMsan next. But watch!
Octavian X Oct 11, 2004, 11:24 PM blackheart - 2
SaaMsan - 1
Meta still isn't here. If it's okay with everyone, I'll just kill him off along with blackheart... :p
Ankka Oct 12, 2004, 01:15 PM It's ok with me... ;)
blackheart Oct 12, 2004, 02:24 PM Hahaha actually Saam hasn't voted yet.
Stuck_as_a_Mac Oct 12, 2004, 03:09 PM Hahaha actually Saam hasn't voted yet.
yes i did. i'm the other vote to destroy you and the mafia along with it.
SaaMsan
blackheart Oct 12, 2004, 04:03 PM Or is it YOU that's the mafia?
Octavian X Oct 12, 2004, 11:38 PM I've sent Meta one last e-mail. If he fails to respond, I'll try to recruit a celebrity volunteer (perhaps a mod, or some other spammer :p) to fill in for him for the remainder of the game. This is just about the fairest thing I can do without throwing off the game mechanics.
Ankka Oct 13, 2004, 09:19 AM No, just kill Meta.
Stuck_as_a_Mac Oct 13, 2004, 02:17 PM Just knock off Meta. It wouldnt be fair to bring a new person in as everyone knows that person cannot be the killer.
SaaM
blackheart Oct 13, 2004, 02:58 PM Yea just knock Meta off, and Saam along with him ;)
Octavian X Oct 13, 2004, 10:45 PM Then, we finish the game, if you so wish. :D
Afternoon, Day Six
Meta mysteriously and spontaneously disappeared into another universe and was never seen again. This caused a number of bad reactions, and was generally regared as a bad move on the part of God.
blackheart, per the vote, joined the the gang that fell off the cliff, never to be heard of again, leaving SaaM, Zio, and Octavian in the hotel.
Later in the afternoon, SaaMsan approached Octavian V, who was eating lunch in the lobby.
"Octavian, care to unlock the doors? I do I've found the killers."
"Are you sure, Master SaaM?" A wave of relief fell over the Temple Keeper. "Tell me then, who was it?"
"Hehehe, you senile old fool. IT WAS ME!" SaaM said with a evil laugh.
"You'll never get away with this! Zio! Guards!"
"They are of no use to you now. My interns 'took care' of them just as you escorted blackheart off the side of the building. Thanks, by the way, for getting rid of him for me."
"You'll never get away with this!" Octavian said, getting up to head toward the door. That was when he collapsed back into the chair.
"Do you really think I'd let you get away, after all the work Noldodan and I did? I was kind enough to add a 'special' seasoning to that doughnut you just ate. Still, though, stay for a bit. I've been meaning to get some stuff of my chest before I leave you dead."
------------
OOC:
Yes, the game's over. SaaMsan and Noldodan were the murders, and since SaaM was the only to survive, I declare him the winner of the Temple of Furuyama's first ever mini-game!
SaaM has asked to explain his own motives, so I'll let him do that. Noldodan, the other mafia, is welcome to do so as well. Tomorrow, I'll add another post explaining some of the clues I put in the story that could've led you to the killers as well.
RegentMan Oct 14, 2004, 08:59 AM Good game all! Congrats to SaaM, who managed to outwit some of us. Looking forward to the next game!
