- Tamoio is the unique unit of the Tupi civilization. If u want the full civilization, including the unit, go to http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=89903&page=1&pp=20

Civilopedia, Tamoio (UU):
The unique unit of the Tupi civilization is Tamoios, it replaces standard archer and has 03 moves by turn, instead of 01 and cost 10 shields more. The Tamoio warriors know their territory better then the Portuguese or other enemies, so they can move faster and surprise them. They use archers, blades and small canoes (pirogas) that move quickly in the rivers. Portugal used powder arms against Cacique Cunhambebe forces in "Guerra dos Tamoios" or "Tamoio War" and was defeated in starting battles, demonstrating the power of Tamoio archers.

Thanks for the Tamoio - looks good in the previews, I'll have to download it and have a look what it's like in-game.

The piroga is the one I'm really interested in :) . Are you doing a settler and a worker at all?

These images have double of the size in game ones (there, they have 69x69 pixels), the similar size of the regular units. Thanks for enjoying!

Thanks friend!
I have to produce a "lunar settler", some kind of lunar jeep that works like a settler for future eras, but if I change the textures it could be a good "motorezed settler" for indust and modern eras. For worker I have to do the Neanderthal Worker for some Mods/scenarios mine. But if u have any request of specific worker/settler, tell me, if I can, I do them to your mods :)

I've been wanting a Native American worker and settler for a while. If you get a chance to have a go at this - perhaps in a Tupi style - it would be great ;) .

Since the model and texture are ready, it is not hard to do a NA settler and worker, just need give them animation :) . And these two units also could be good sum to ACM, the worker and settler present in Civ3 do not look like natives. Yes, I can do these request, but I have a lot of work to do first, like these firt Tupi units, motorezed settler, mountede units, aircrafts and others.

Ok, I've asked on a Tupi-language Yahoogroup if the names of these units are correct... According to them...

1. Our Pokabá-Abá should become the POKABABÁ.
2. The "naked" Pokababá should be called KA'AMONDOSARA (or Caamondoçara, in an alternate spelling). That's Tupi for Huntsman.
3. The Iaguará-Abá should be the IAGUARABÁ (or Jaguarabá).

Oh, and nice work on the Tamoio, as usual! :goodjob:

I'd like to make a suggestion based on the previews. I didn't download that actual unit files, so I don't know if those animations are different from the those in the preview or not.

Anyway, in the preview, it looks like you are rotating the "body" of your figure or lowering the "y-trans" of the figures "body." I would recommend rotating and adjusting the "hip" instead. Then adjust the feet is neccessary--just make sure that the "IK-chain" for the feet is on. (I think it's the "IK-chain," but I don't have poser with me right now.) That should help prevent things like the feet passing throught the "GROUND" plane in the victory animation preview.

I think it is the best way to organize the file is put them in the structure of the game, so, when someone download the *.zip, he knows where which file must be in them Civ3 directory.

It seems that your death animations kinda rotate around the stomach as they fall down, rather than tipping over. You might want to make the tip more, it will probably make them look more realistic. Also, the previews don't do you or your units justice at all :D. Very nice units :goodjob:, especially for the quantity... How long did it take you to make these?

Hey CivArmy! Its good you decided to improve your tupi units, since im using your tupi civ in my mod, i do need tupi units since the north american indian units dont fit very well with the tupi civilization.
I think the new versions look better, but the animations need some work, they happen too fast, should be more detailed, you understand, we should see the arms of the tamoio moving to put the bow in position and shooting the arrow. But you're getting better! Keep it up! :)

You're quite right! It looks better when previewed in animation shop. But here's an idea for you, your tamoio's attack animation has 8 frames for each direction, could you make a new animation using 16 frames? Dont know if that will make it any different, not a unit maker.

Jan 13, 2005, 09:36 PM
They look great, as always, but one thing you could still try to improve, perhaps in another version, is that in the attack anim for the archer, he should move his feet forward, rather than slide them (that's also for the fortify anim)

I added yesterday the settler and the worker and minutes ago the Oncelot Tame guy. I can re-do the animation of the Tamoio (archer), but I don't think add more frames would solve the problem :) I'll remove the feets slide

SoG: if I can I could do a attack animation 2, but it'd be more work to be done. I think maybe 10 units or less in game has 2 attack animations

Maybe just your favorite Units, the cream of the crop. Like the Caveman, just an idea.

Good God, he's not done all that in just a year, has he? That's amazing!

I like these new units very much. They're looking pretty good.

Yea, that new Tamoio is much better!! Just have a sugestion, the left foot animation is very cool, but its a bit strange seeing the guy keep moving the foot every time he shoots an arrow, so maybe this is a good unit to do a second attack animation, so he would move the foot in the first, then keep shooting arrows and reloading ;) in the second :)
But well done! If you could make similiar improvements to the warrior and horseman units since im also using those in my mod, and im missing a spearman for the tupi :)

these are great units but ive noticed one thing about the Piroga.

The arrows are litterally shooting out of nowhere. It would be cool to see the people in the boat shooting the arrows.

But other than that :goodjob: i love them.

The way around that is to use the Piroga as an A/D/M = 0/0/whatever, but make it dead cheap. Up against a Galley or whatever it would make far more sense for the guys in the canoe to flee, or just die, than fight and maybe win.

thats true but i am soon starting a Native mod and it will be canoe against canoe but it'll work how it is

thanx again for the great units

try my Arawak spearman unit called Eagle Klan, the link of its library is http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=103999 . There u found other NA untis too. Arawak r not Tupi, it is another NA root, but they lived close and some tribes had contact.
BTW, Tupi and Arawak didn't use shields, but I just discovered it after have done the Eagle Klan unit

Madeira, Dease's unit is actually a Spearman. He calls it a Pikeman just because it's easier to type. :)
