PROLOGUE
Ray Nassiri looked up from his post and reflected upon the last few days. Several thousand Persian settlers were disappearing without a trace once they approached the Northern Forest. Was it a demigod of old swallowing up the masses who infringed on their territiory, or was it something even more sinister?
He wouldn't have to wait long for an answer as an approaching high-ranking officer entered the tent of the Regent. "I think we've discovered why our three bands of settlers are unable to expand into the Northern Forest." The officer paused as he looked around.
"Well?"
"Myceneans, sir."
"..."
"Sir?"
"Out. Get out!" Nassiri cried as he slammed his fist on the wooden table. The officer sheepishly left the tent. The Regent had remembered all too well the horde of Myceneans who ambushed his capital several weeks ago, killing a number of his best men. Within an hour he gathered the best of what he had left, with orders for them to seek and destroy the Mycenans.
---
"Your eminence!"
The Regent stepped out of his tent as he heard the sounds of victory in the camp.
"Sir!" an officer said, arms in the air. "We got the Myceneans! And we've brought back the...uh...spoils."
When Nassiri had a look at the spoils, there were several women and children, as well as other wares. "You fools, I said to raze the settlements, not bring back useless treasures!"
"But sir, they totally surrendered. And this fair lady insisted on speaking with you."
He paused as he looked at the woman in question. "...alright, bring her to me..."
