View Full Version : COTM 03 - Results and Congratulations
ainwood Sep 09, 2004, 10:51 PM Entries were down a bit this month - probably due to the Demi-God level difficulty. And of those that did submit, less than half registered victories. But it is great to see that people submitted even though they lost, and most still managed to put up a good fight (the majority lost by spaceship).
So: Who got to the top?
It was SirPleb, who took out the Gold Medal with an early domination victory. We had a good variety of winning conditions this month, with Drazek claiming the silver medal with a conquest victory. Incidentally - he took the awards for fastest conquest finish, and also lowest scoring conquest win! - not bad for a silver medal score! :crazyeye: The Bronze Medal was won by kuningas, with a spaceship victory.
It was good to see that there were also some very high-scoring diplomatic victories as well! :goodjob:

bradleyfeanor Sep 10, 2004, 01:57 AM Cangratulations to all the winners!
On a more personal note...
:aargh: :aargh: :aargh:
Kuningas, that makes two awards in a row you have snatched from my grasp!
If you are going for 20k in GOTM34, let me know now so I can just quit and start COTM4.
Roland Ehnström Sep 10, 2004, 04:20 AM Congratulations everyone! http://forum.rscnet.org/images/smilies/bowdown.gif

Megalou Sep 10, 2004, 04:54 AM It was good to see that there were also some very high-scoring diplomatic victories as well! :goodjob: Probably due to the high difficulty level, don't you think? That's a reason to have more tough games, a bigger share of non-miltary winners.
Those who didn't pull off a victory here may not agree with me, but if you fear losing you'll never... well something like that.
I lost and quit my first GOTM, 14, and it's the one I remember best.
Congrats to all those who were better diplomats than me. But beware: I won't throw away all my knights to a flip again!
Congrats also to the awesome results of the medal winners.
grs Sep 10, 2004, 05:21 AM No one dared to try a cultural 100k, or more precise: no one succeeded.
Darkness Sep 10, 2004, 06:03 AM Congrats everyone!
civ_steve Sep 10, 2004, 11:15 AM Congratulations to the winners and :goodjob: to all submitters!
Quite competitive in the fastest Diplo victory; good job grs!
The Histographic and 100K awards were left in the bag ... too bad! With all the Scientific civs (and Carthage as a strong Commercial civ), they would all have to be suppressed to let the game last long enough. Obviously doable, but a difficult task for Demigod level.

Couldn't agree more. Mine was GOTM 16 (Rome) which I lost but didn't mind because I still enjoyed it so much and also learnt so much.
Now if I could just get back to a steep learning curve to get somewhere near the medal winners.
Congrats to all medal winners and also Ronald who gained nearly as many Jason points as me when he limited himself to one city and I had the whole world to use. :worship: :worship: :worship: :worship:

Thanks Tone, it was my best OCC I ever played. Before I did one at Emperor, but I had never one at demigod. Maybe I will try the next OCC at a deity gotm.

rockytop Sep 10, 2004, 10:25 PM Wow, I actually won a medal for losing! Awesome! I must admit this game was very challenging. I thought I could pull off a win, but had no luck. I was very satisfied with the loss, , and one day hope to get a medal for winning... although I doubt that will happen with the competition I face. :goodjob:
DaveMcW Sep 11, 2004, 12:25 PM I got the cow?
:rotfl:
I take back my earlier comment about milking being a waste of time. :D
ProPain Sep 11, 2004, 06:44 PM 9 supersova_su 6504 1170 Diplomatic Victory 8023 7:19:49
I'm very impressed supersova_su. A victory and 9th place in just under 7 hours and 20 mins. It took most people longer to lose the game
But seriously: amazing
akots Sep 11, 2004, 09:19 PM It was a very tough game and winners showed amazing results! :goodjob:

Done. :) If you don't get it let us know - perhaps they're getting directed to your junk mail?
LuuCkyJaa Sep 13, 2004, 07:06 PM Having never played above the Monarch level, I am blown away by these results. Congrats to everyone who submitted, win or lose. I doubt I could have made it into the top 100 (even though there were only 91 valid submissions).

Randy Sep 13, 2004, 07:54 PM No,
I still didn't get the e-mail. I think Norton AntiVirus is messing it up (I put it on about a mouth and a half ago), it's messing up almost every other program on my computer. My MSN filter are set low and I didn't get any junk mail.
