I should know this but I never paid attention.
I have cavalry units move 2 and infantry units move 1.
If I have an army move 2 will it move at 2 regardless of whether I have cav or infantry in it? Or will it only move 1 if I put infantry in it?
And if I have an army with a move of 1 and put cavalry in it will it move at 1 or at 2?
I'm trying to figure out if I need cavalry armies and infantry armies with different move rates.

An empty army moves in an entirely different way then other units. It travels two tiles on road, and one tile on nonroad.
It always moves like this, regardless of what you give it in the editor.
When a unit is added, the army moves at the speed of the unit plus one. When more units are added, it moves at the speed plus one of the slowest unit in it.

thanks.
It is really silly that armies move faster then individual units but if that's the way it works I guess I'll go with it.

It is something new from Conquests, IIRC, they wanted to make armies better.
They also heal faster.

Overpowering you mean... :mischief:
The AI just plain sucks at using armies, it won't load them entirely, even if there are plenty of units nearby.
I once had a game where I gave the AI army spawning small wonders, to help them out. Well, when I was about to conquer the city that had the small wonder, it had a bunch of armies with one unit in it, sitting idly, and another bunch of empty armies...
