yes, it did the same to my game too.
The installation would run until the very end than up comes the error message saying that there is an error in that civilization iv could not be found. After that i have no problems running games until i try to build some wonders. Wonders such as the great wall once completed would lock up my game and force it to shut down.
Any help? |

If your system lacks D3DX9_32.DLL then you have to install DirectX Software Development Kit. When updating Warlords to the new patch v1.74 Patch, then Civ 4 must also be updated to v2.13. Please look at the specifications for the Warlord patch 1.74 at the following link:
http://forums.civfanatics.com/downlo...o=file&id=6184
There are links for DirectX and DirectX SDK.
D3DX9_32.DLL can be downloaded at the following location:

In my prevous comment, I mixed the versions number for patches for Civ 4 and Civ 4 Warlords. Here is the edited text.

I get "error loading shader libraries" after downloading that file. Also those two links don't work for me. I had to google them. |

After Downloading the Patch, if you recieve the D3DX9_32.DLL missing error, click on this link.
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...DisplayLang=en
Note: I had already downloaded and installed an older version of the missing DLL file before clicking on this link, and had received the "error loading shader libraries" error. You may need to download the file elsewhere before this link works. |

One more note. The issue may not be the DLL for everyone, my game would not start and noted that the D3DX9_32.DLL file was missing. If you are having a similar error message pop up then the link in my earlier post should at least let you start the game. I've yet to test it fully to make sure that everything works, but I've had no problems so far.
BTW, if you are having issues with the link for whatever reason. Copy the text below into your browser's address bar.

I had real difficulity but I figured it out finally. First I went to the Microsoft Site per KalKas suggested. I downloaded the DirectX Software Development Kit. Then I saved all my large Mods etc. to a temp file. I then uninstalled both Civ IV and Warlords. I then ran the DirectX Software, reinstalled the Civ IV and Warlords programs. Then I ran both the 1.74 patch for CIV IV and the 2.71 patch for Warlords. Finally I transferred my mods back and everything worked perfect. I had the same problems as everyone else. My system would not work, the system locked up. What a nightmare. |

Ok I'm having all of these problems and I can't uninstall the game or run it so I read all the posts and downloaded the DirectX thing and the D3DX9_32.DLL file but nothing has changed and I don't know which folder the D3DX9 thing goes in. If someone could please explain this stuff to me it would be much appreciated. I'm fairly good with comps but I really don't know what to do on this one. |

Steelsoldier -- (and hopefully others) --
If you've installed the DirectX update, you should have the file you need already at C:\Windows\System32\D3DX9_32.DLL. It shouldn't be necessary to download an individual file.
If the DirectX update DIDN'T put the file where it should be for whatever reason, download the offline, redistributable installer of DirectX, available here;
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?link...11&clcid=0x409
The 1.74 release should work on your system with all this.
Provided, of course, your drivers are in order.
Hope that helps. |

Ok, I've been reading through this thread and I still have questions, issues.
I first attempted to install CivIV:Warlords patch 2.13 through the game. It failed when CivIV attempted to patch itself before patch 2.13 finished. I then tried to install CivIV patch 1.74, but received the following error:
Error Code: -5009 : 0x8002802b
Error Information:
>Ctor\ObjectWrapper.cpp (163)
>Ctor\ObjectWrapper.cpp (391)
>Kernel\Component.cpp (1163)
>Ctor\ObjectWrapper.cpp (34)
>Ctor\DriverWrapper.cpp (31)
>Kernel\Component.cpp (1152)
>Kernel\CABFile.cpp (384)
>SetupDLL\SetupDLL.cpp (1526)

$11.0.0.28844
@Windows XP Service Pack 2 (2600) BT_OTHER 55312.18
I downloaded both patches and tried to install externally, but to no avail. I downloaded DirectX 9c. I have D3DX9_32.DLL in the /system32/ directory (albeit, lowercase). When I try to uninstall, I receive the above error as well.
What can I do?
Thanks,

Have you tried uninstalling manually?
XP: Start->Control Panel->Add or Remove Programs->Sid Meier's Civilization 4->Remove.
Should uninstall without you having to open up the program. As for RJD27, your problem is not the DLL, rather, it seems that other files have gotten corrupted. I would have Windows do the uninstall, and then update to the patch prior to 1.74 (I think it's 1.61) and wait for 2k to patch the patch.
Also, email their tech support, including everything you've got there, as well as CPU and Driver information. They can't help you if you don't ask. |

Thanks.
Something has gotten corrupted. I've tried installing BTS and it stops as it updates CivIV with the latest patch.
I can't uninstall through windows. I get the same error.
Thanks all,

Well, I found the fix. I was able to install updates 1.74 and 2.13.
I finally (yeah, should have done it first) Googled the damn error. It appears to be an InstallShield error.
Here's the basic fix:
http://consumer.installshield.com/kb.asp?id=Q110616
C:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield
that's the directory you need if you experience this issue.
I had to delete everything (files and folders) in the \InstallShield\ directory. I then installed the 701 update. the only folder in the \InstallShield\ dir is Professional.
It worked. I don't know why. Not sure what got corrupted or what went missing, but cleaning out the InstallShield directory and running the version 701 update fixed the issue.

arrrggghhh - now I can't find my second install disc now for civ 4! having to reinstall. won't run after this patch. have to buy it all over again before getting BtS. next month maybe. if that file is part of software developer kit why do we need it just to play the game? why did it tell me to re-install civ 4? this is a major set back for me right now. I was gonna buy bts this month but not unless I can find that other install cd. |

As I get later into the game the game will crash and come up with this error
failed to allocate video memory please try reducing your graphic settings.
File:\source\main\civilization4\SKs\Gamebry02_01\c orelibs\indxx9renderer\indx9vbmanager.cpp,line:101 9
I tried decreasing the graphics on the options to low and I have tried different display options?
Are there any suggestions?
I am at 1.74 on the patches. |

Out of curiosity, why is this patch not available on the official Civ 4 website or the 2K Games website?

Thanks to kalkas and Khands. I read your info before trying to update 1.74 and 2.13. Everything worked perfect.
Adding to what Walkingwarrant wrote...uninstalling using "software" doen´t remove everything so I deleted the entire Firafix in Programs before reinstalling, after making backups of personal stuff, just to make sure no gremlins were still there. |
