I tired to search for an answer to this but didn't have much luck. So what exactly does the dragon's hoard do? Or better yet, how does one use it other than picking it up and putting it back down? I have found it twice. First time, I killed Acheron and claimed it after I burned the city to the ground. The second time, another civ beat me to it and claimed the city. I conquered the city, but again burned it down due to the location and a mass horde coming at me (I was playing no settlers). I couldn't keep the hoard that time and the CPU left it so it was this huge pile on the screen that looked pretty cool. I later claimed it and took it back home, but could only drop it or pick it up. So how does it work or does the dragon's hoard only work on the city Acheron defends?

I was always a lousy player, but now this is really confusing me. Tried to play some games in Monarch, but my development is always painfully slow, so I lag behind every other civ. The reason being, darned barbarians spawn faster than I can produce the 2-3 warriors needed to take out any of them. And if by any chance they get to stack on a hill-forest tile, forget about it, they're never going away.

How do you lads deal with it?

In your experience, what sort of map best reproduces the Good vs Evil, Law vs Chaos, Bannor vs Clan, Elves vs Elves dinamic FFH2 aims at?

I've experienced a bit with Hemispheres and Pangea but both seem lacking. The first because every civ in either continent(s) sticks to the same religion/orientation and just stays there, without conflicts. The second because there's always one faction that becomes too powerful and all others quickly follow it or die. (a faction other than myself, I like to hold back and RP).

What say thee?

I envision Lizardmen as a neutral, savage force present in the wilds of the world, killing those who come into their lands but generally leaving well established cities alone.

I envision skeletons as deranged, violent, with a specific grudge against the humanoids (rather than, say, animals) and utterly lacking in self preservation instincts.

In the game, however, I see Lizardmen suiciding against cities and Skeletons not attacking even when it would make sense to. Once I saw a stack of four lizardmen and one skeleton out of my not-that-well-defended capital... the four lizardmen all attacked and died, leaving my defender quite injured, and the skeleton moved away. This makes no sense to me; it should be the other way around.

Differentiating the way that barbarian monsters act would in general, I think, add to the excitement of exploring the wild, making us think of them as different, not just as "oh, look, a barbarian."

I would like to start a new Divine Intervention game, as it would be nice to see one of them finished. ;) I would update as regularly as possible, although that may be a little difficult for me during two weekends in December, as it is holiday time...

Anyway, I wanted to make it more story based and was toying with some additional rules to that end. I'll write them out if people are interested.

The civilization I would like to play is the Grigori, but I would not be Cassiel. A civilization that cannot formally adopt a religion may sound like a hindrance in a DI game, but I think it opens more doors to role play with. This means I can pretend to follow ANY god (I will have no problem picking an official state religion or religions, as I am not Cassiel). I can earn the various religious units by the gods granting them to me instead of researching a religion and building them(although this doesn't work with heroes, the gods can make up their own).

So yes, let me know. I'm in a role playing mood.

...go away after the Infernals have been destroyed?

Bannor game, I was trying to roleplay my stance regarding a recently-verified AV Sheaim in another continent when Os-Gab brought the Infernals into a tiny Vir in my own continent. Or maybe she didn't, since they only got that one city, instead of the 3 I'd expect.

Either way, I went into Cruzade mode, mobilized a hell of an army, and marched across half a continent into the cold hellscape of the northen tundra, where Dir stood. Before I got there, my friends the Elohim brought the Mercurians into the World, and proceded to declare war on the Infernals.

Then, of course, I...

And after this... the Mercurians keep wondering around. What gives? Is there a Lore-related reason for this?

I never played vanilla Civ 3 or 4 too much, although I played 1 a good bit and 2 until my eyes bled, so while I know the basics of a lot of Civ 4 strategies, I'm a bit fuzzy about some of their implementations, so spells things out for me a bit :) Thanks...

What I've been going:

I've been playing patch J with the FlavourMod with some somewhat weird settings:
-Emperor difficulty, Ljosalfar, Arendel Phaedra
-Barbarian world, barbarian cities, no tech brokering, lots of animals, lots of events, all unique features, flavour start. Which probably reduces my income from Fellowship of Leaves spread somewhat :)
-Mountain Coast map script with lots of mountains and chokepoints.
-Not all that many AI civs, exact number flucuates a bit from game to game.
Note: what I'm going for is a Lord of the Rings feeling in which civilizations are points of light in a vast wilderness and in which trying to meet your neighbors is hard and dangerous. I'm liking these settings a LOT (althoug the early game barb swarms can be a bit much), although might tweak the files to give me lots and lots and lots and lot of animal spawning so I don't have to turn on barbarian cities. Although squishing barbarian warrior swarms with my lovely lovely treants if fun :)

Anyway, I've been doing fairly well (middle of the pack score-wise), but some things just aren't clicking. It seems that even more so than in regular Civ, there's just sooo many things you could be doing that its hard to prioritize. Some specific questions:

-Tech-wise I've been beelining Fellowship of the Leaves then getting archery (need hero for to kill massive barbarian swarms with) then going. "Gaaak! I need economy!" and researching mostly economy techs.

-I think I'm not doing things right economy-wise. Elves are supposed to be economic titans, but I'm finding myself having to put science down to 60% to break even even without that many cities. What improvements should I be building on my forest squares. I realize that my settings (all the barbarians) retard my economic development a bit but I think there's more I can be doing. I'm sort of flailing around trying to get my economy up and not doing as well as I should since after spending so much time researching for Fellowship of the Leaves in the early game (stupid Hunting taking so damn long to research) there's so many economic techs that I feel like I need yesterday once I have that. Which economic techs, improvements, buildings and civics should I prioritize to make my forests boom as fast as possible after I finish beelining Fellowship of the Leaves.

-After I get Fellowship of the Leaves done and my economy stabilized I feel like getting some magic is a good idea since elves NEED some way of doing collateral damage. However when I get my first adepts the only spells they can learn right off the bat are one that makes boats go faster and one that fixes hell terrain, neither of which are especially useful to me in the early-mid game. What should I do with my adepts to make them do something useful?

-Priests of the leaves being able to plant me new forests sounds damn nice but it just seems that I don't have enough tech research to go around after getting my economy in gear to get these guys very early. How soon should I go about getting them?

-Which wonders should I be shooting for? The AI seems MUCH less focused on wonder-building than in vanilla civ so it seems that I can take my pick.

-Stupid Belseraph always start next to me, always build up very big and always declare war on me randomly (even when Pleased :( )and I always have a hard time dealing with their massive stacks, since I don't have too much in the way of collateral damage. I guess more archers stationed at chokepoints and wizzies who can do collateral damage? Maybe also get horse riding fast to get mobility to get my units in place to jump in front of the Balseraph mega-stacks?

-How much should I bother with trying to get Great People? I haven't been doing much with them aside from trying to get a Great Prophet for my religion founder building, should I?

Thanks!

Somewhere around patch "i" we started getting OOS errors again. I cant find any issues in code review, but I have a number of suspects. I will need help from all of you to figure out which suspect is the one causing the OOS errors.

I will be attaching various CvGameCoreDLL.dll files to this post. Please test them in multiplayer games and see if your OOS errors go away. There are a few disclaimers:

1. All of these CvGameCoreDLL.dll require patch "j".
2. All of the test files will need to be renqamed to CvGameCoreDLL.dll.
3. All of the test CvGameCoreDLL.dll files will need to be copied into the \Mods\Fall from Heaven 2\Assets\ directory.
4. Everyone in your multiplayer game will need to be using exactly the same version of the test CvGameCoreDLL.dll file.
5. These test files are not for normal play. They all have different features disabled. They are only for OOS testing.

If you would like to validate full patch versions, here are the full patches to test with:

Patch "g"
Patch "h"
Patch "i"
Patch "j"
ps. remember that all the above CvGamceCoreDLL.dll's all require patch "j". So when you test the oos dll's you will have to have patch "j" installed.
