Yeah, we've got a lot of old friends on that team. I'll find it a lot harder to be enthusiastic about wiping GONG out than with SABER.

I wonder if they can see me waving my hankie at them from the side of our boat. :mischief:

I'll find 'Cane on IM tonight. He's usually on but working all day too.

We're up contact with Saber, Wheel, IW, philo, CoL, MM and republic. They're up poly and monarchy. We may be able to structure a deal for poly and turn around and pick up a tech from Saber or Council or both.:mischief:

I think we should meet Council to see what they have before we consumate any deals. It's a nice position having a big tech lead here. We could pull off some 2 or 3 fers here.

I think if we can "one off" techs we receive it should be considered.
IE with poly which has no real benefit. If we can turn around and trade poly for other techs to Council and Saber to accelerate our tech pace we're all good. Another thing to consider is Gong may be interested in Republic since they're religious.
 
We really should consider trying to slow down the tech pace. The longer we can benefit from our UU the better. problem could be to make the others slow the tech pace too, and we do not want to fall behind either. So if we trade we trade techs we do not have monopoly on. And try to keep them separated for as long as possible, so no contacts.
 
agreed with Wotan as stated elsewhere already...need to make sure tech pace is slow
 
Agreed on the pace but let's not be overly cautious to believe these guys won't trade to pick up the pace.

The only techs I think we should trade are ones we pick up (or are not at monopoly) that can be traded around.

I had a nice conversation with Killercane tonight.

They're looking for a long term deal and some tech deals that I'm so not sure about. Since we don't anticipate war with these guys soon I offered 20 turns of peace. Cane think we'll meet someone going west but that doesn't seem to be what Tubby's crystal ball says. They haven't met anyone and he forgot to ask who we knew.

Cane's comments doesn't conflict with my own.....

if we go (north-)west along that coastal bit and then (south-)west along that other coastal bit, we should come into contact with 2 more teams' home continents. So yes if we go due west then we should meet someone indicating that to the NW is GONG.
 
it sounded like they had some more huts to pop. I wonder if they are talking about their resource isle or if they are talking about on their continent.

I also found it odd to be in GA this early in the game without population needed to make it pay off. They must be planning for an early war as well.

How many huts did we encounter on the starting island? 3? And we have popped another hut on the first resource island. Have they saved 2 huts on their starting island?

Their UU suggest an early war but the layout of the map should tell them it could be costly in Galleys. Both crossings need two risky passages so on average they will see one Galley lost for every two units making it across... Seafaring would have been a great trait to have on this map. ;)

True but then no one chose seafaring and we built the GLH so sea crossings are other peoples problem and not ours;)
