Help me. I don't know where I am.
Welcome, all, to my first story!
To newer Stories and Talers: Hi, I'm General Olaf, I've been on the forums for about nine months. I first joined to comment on the great Princes of the Universe, and I have spent almost all my time on the Civ4 Stories forum. So welcome to our little rather large forum and have fun reading all the stories written by our community.

To the veterans: Hopefully this will read a little like NinjaCow's stories - a lot of humour :p. I welcome any gameplay tips.

EDIT: Game settings:
Large/Big and Small/High Sea Levels
Willem of the "Dutch"
Prince difficulty
One City Challenge
Forgot to turn off huts/events

Now, I've rambled on a bit, but the show must go on. So here goes.

4000 BC, the coast of a mostly unknown landmass. A small tribe of about a thousand is being addressed by its leader.

Olaf: We have wandered for thousands of years. You all know the lands around here - they are plentiful, we have never wanted. But never have we had so much plenty as at this very spot. I propose we settle here. I have consulted the shamans, and they agree - the RNG deity has willed it so. My people, can you lead your nation? Will we build a civilisation to stand the test of time?
The People: Yes!
Olaf: Then we shall settle in place.
The People:  Settle in place?
Olaf: *Sigh* Sit down on the ground, and you'll vanish and become a load of buildings.
The People: Well... okay, then.

Narrator: And so begins the story of Wellitawadam DC. What will they achieve, I wonder?
Olaf: Hey, who said that? Am I going mad? Am I hearing the voice of Sid? Who's there?
Narrator:*Sigh* Never mind.
Olaf: Yep, I'm going mad.

no dikes for you :D

Good start.

Do we get to choose some decicions? Or was it only for deciding the Civ to use? No problem with either.. :)

Could I be the Foreign Advisor?

Your second in command is reporting sir!

Congrats on youre first story:band:[party]

Thanks for referencing me. :goodjob:

I demand a position as teh RNG God!

Sorry, he's called Sid :p

All other requests will be included in the story :)

By the way, that was just a short update to get discussuion flowing - future updates will be a lot longer, I just don't have much time until Thursday here.

@Yoshi - Yes, this is my first story :)

EDIT: And SK, what would be your second position choice?

Also, @Haig - I wilkl be making ingame decisions - the positions will be for characters in the story. However, I will take advice if it's offered as I know I'm not an amazing player :)

Whaddaya guys think? A sheer masterpiece of a flag, no?
(that's 5 US states, the Maple leaf on it's white background, the red combines the US, Canadian and Dutch Flags, that's a New Zealand Star on the Flag's blue, and the bottom stripe is a pure Dutch Flag Blue)

Sorry, I accidentally saved it as a JPEG, it looked a lot nicer as a GIF.

In any case let me explain it:
The stripes represent American flag, the maple leaf represents the Canadian flag, the Union Jack in the top corner represents Great Britain, as well Australia and New Zealand (who have a union jack in the top corner of their flag)
and the blue at the bottom represents Netherlands
