Was It Obvious 1UPT Wouldn't Work?

Every poll on here supports 1UPT by a wide margin. Oh and it works fine. I have played a lot of games and never seent the carpet of doom. looks like someone loaded a mod that adjusted production to me.

why is england so weak in civ v?

I think England is reasonably strong. They have great UU's

    So...we Texans are "unhappy"?

Exactly. In Texas you would almost need an entire social policy tree dedicated to football.

    Budapest goes nuclear

Good for them! They have a right to self-defense too! :)

Three (1/2) months later... The facts about Civ 5's problems

Editing others quotes is "the disappoint!" It's a bashing thread, look at the replies. There are other threads that do exactly what you are doing here, and I don't even disagree with much of your list, though I do agree with many replies that much of what is on the list is actually the...

AI's in a traffic jam (rant I suppose)

The Scout can move through units, but it can't if it doesn't have enough movement points to get through the rows of attacking force to an open tile right? He said he had catapults and archers with his force so I am assuming it is two deep or more at the bottleneck. Without a screenshot, it is...

    Strategic balance

It's definately tough when you have no iron (or even horses) at the beginning. I think though if everyone started with iron in abundance they should just remove the resource requirement from building the units as it would no actual value in game.

Three (1/2) months later... The facts about Civ 5's problems

Another thread bashing the game. I am shocked!

Do you think Civ V is doomed?

    No, of course not.

Is the "hate" worse then it was for Vanilla Civ4 release?

I thought Civ 4, other than some really bad technical issues at launch, was a far smoother reception than Civ 5. Make no mistake, many hated it right from the start, just like Civ 5, but there seemed to be concensus that if they could patch fix the technical issues with running the game, the...

"More patches are on their way"

No matter how you slice it, that is a successful launch in terms of sales. I leave it to others to continue to debate the merit of those sales, but the checks cash for the developers and hopefully that leads to continued support.

    Why was 1UPT necessary?

Where exactly was this brilliant AI that supposedly inhabited the beloved Civ4? Don't get me wrong, I loved Civ4, but I have to laugh at all the knocking of the Civ5 AI. It's predecessor was no better, and the games were only harder at higher level because the AI received higher bonuses than...

    The Final Analysis?

Folks getting upset with how others review a reviewer is more than a bit ironic. I actually look forward to the mods. Rather than assuming that mods that improve Civ V are part of the problem, I actually think the great modders of the past versions were key to the success of the franchise...

Good callout on the immersion issue.

    The Final Analysis?

Well said. I would disagree with 1UPT being unsolvable, but then I also don't remember there being a genius AI in Civ4 who can handle tactical decisions well either. That said, I still have a lot of respect for Sulla's comments past and present. I just disagree in this case overall. I...

    1 unit per hex. Poll

I like 1UPT. I think it forces more value on each unit versus the creation of stacks of doom at will as needed for war. I would disagree that proper assembly of a stack of doom is a skill. It was and always is about the numbers. At the higher difficulty level the challenge was living...

Shocked, and suddently hating the patch

I have enjoyed all the Civ games since the original, and I actually enjoy Civ 5 as well. I might even be called a "defender". However, there seems to be no reasonable way to describe this situation as anything other than an unintended consequence coming from the designers hoping to boost...

    Athens? No, this is...

He mostly made deals selling borders and luxuries to buy the Hoplites versus producing them. I think the gold buying production capabilities in this version of Civ are key to success.
