Yes, this thread's poll doesn't give enough credit to streaming as a way of discovering and enjoying albums. I have been able to expand my familiarity with the influential music of the 50s-70s by streaming albums which I would never have considered had I needed to go out and find them on CD etc...
Plenty of individuals are synonymous with numbers, but how impressive that is depends on how likely you are to encounter the number in a neutral setting. For example, if I saw the number 99.94, I would think of Don Bradman, but when is one likely to meet the number 99.94 unless one is already...
My everyday vocabulary contains more Yiddish-derived words than is probably usual for someone with no Jewish heritage (and who isn't from New York). Both 'schlep' and 'kvetch' are among the words that will come to my mind unbidden, i.e. I don't need to reach to recall them.
(And a quick search...
This year I genuinely did set out to achieve goals, and I wrote them down too. Seems like this is the appropriate place to take stock of them so here goes:
- Resolved some problems that had arisen with my flat - in particular, had my boiler replaced before it could blow up, and managed to...
So it seems I shall not achieve my dream of being a famous writer after all, as my series of wedding-themed whodunnits was rejected by the publishers. Apparently they were "too predictable".
Sigh... always the bridesmaid.
Corollary:
At the moment I can see 'likes I've received', but would it be possible to add a way to see 'likes I've given'? I'd love to be able to go back and find the posts that I enjoyed in the past.
Attempted to find another four-letter one (we had one on the previous page) and would like to submit this to the rules committee to see if it counts (try searching it for the reason I'm dubious):
l.u.n.k
Well yesterday I had to ask someone to repeat themselves three or four times before I could hear them, so that super hearing option is looking very tempting to me.

Okay I'm done now.
I admit that I was initially fooled by this! At the time I originally posted I was absolutely willing to believe this (to be fair the first post was sprinkled with believeable little details like 'CFC hasn't been backed up in six years' :p). It was only about five seconds after I clicked 'Post...
The obvious solution is to put our post counts in our signatures and manually increment them every time we post. I updated mine before I posted this so I'm ahead of the game! Keep up, suckers!
I'm actually almost finished listening to a series of audio lectures on this topic - 36 Great Women Before 1400 (35 of 36 lectures complete!) A few highlights:
The Trưng sisters of Vietnam who rebelled against China
Perpetua, early Christian martyr, fell to beasts in the arena
Aisha, one of...
Equinoxes are for suckers. I will never be convinced that any part of December should be considered 'autumn'.
How can we be singing "In the Bleak Midwinter" if winter has yet to begin?
Gave four of my votes to the four artists in the list that I have heard and enjoyed album-length projects from:
ATCQ
Kate Bush
MC5
Dolly Parton
Gave my fifth vote to Eurythmics because Annie Lennox is cool.
