    Understanding FFH Terrain

Do deer also turn into nightmares in hell? Or frogs even? Or do they remain deer? In my current game, Hyborem spawned right to the uninhabitable North of my civ, and I was waiting forever for that deer tile to become a nightmare before I banished Hyborem. It never did change - AC counter...

Suggestion: Hawks can be shot down by archers

Perhaps hawks should only be able to scout terrain until a later tech, after which they can also spot units. Actually the only thng that limits my use of them is that they don't have an auto-recon feature.

    Elohim Guide

I think their world spell is very strong, it allows you to use all of your units save one for each city in a war without fearing retaliation (for 30 turns). Somewhat late in the game, 30 turns can seem pretty much forever. It's much more impressive as a tool of war than I thought it would be at...

    Crusaders obsolete after Righteousness?

That's a weird mechanic. Someone please help me understand the rationale behind this? Thanks for the solution btw, I'll try it out.

    Crusaders obsolete after Righteousness?

Quick search did not produce relevant results. I'm playing a Noble Pangaea Bannor game (patch .41j), and as soon as I finished researching Righteousness all my cities lost the entry for building crusaders. I can still build Confessors (and Sphener). My cities that were set on always build...

    The Economic Strategy Compilation

Ok, I just worldbuildered 80 demagogs into a new game and found out that they do require maintenance. On the subject of reformatting the mana nodes to law, that's interesting. Usually I keep the Fire / Body / Enchantment nodes but seeing as my stacks all have Guardsmen my mages are unlikely to...

    Kuriotates and Great Engineers

What about supplies, they can be sacrificed for buildings as well. I wonder if they work on settlements.

    The Economic Strategy Compilation

I don't know, usually when I try to mass conquer I hit a point where I can't sustain my economy due to my inability to build courthouses. Then again, previously I had mass built champions instead of demagogues (I only found out that demagogues have no support cost yesterday). Also, being unable...

    The Economic Strategy Compilation

Could a case for a perpetual Crusade be made? I've found that after enabling Crusade my cash inflow shoots up. Granted, there are certain things I cannot build but some things can be prepared for (stockpiling settlers for example). The biggest downside to Crusade is that you cannot enter...

Why didn't/doesn't Basium get a unique weapon?

.41j I'll try to recreate, maybe my memory is clouded with past versions?

Why didn't/doesn't Basium get a unique weapon?

Yes, he's pretty much the reincarnation of Orthus: bangs head on wall, repeat until dead. Most likely reason is that I'm usually in a war when the gate is finished, Basium seeks out my enemy without gaining XP the peaceful way, then goes into a fight without support and without promotions.

Why didn't/doesn't Basium get a unique weapon?

I find that Basium charges into certain death on his own, usually 5 turns after the gate has been built - so he tends to have zilch impact in my single player games. Shouldn't he get March from the start to make him last a few turns longer?

Sphener should be able to fly

Sphener should become superduperSphener after visiting the Seven Pines. Or at least get a Mithril Weapons promotion (read his fluff).

    Resurrection and equipment

Can Grigori adventurers be resurrected with the Life III spell? Similarly, can Grigori build Shrine of the champion after the first adventurer dies? Or do Grigori simply lack a national hero?

    Difficulty

Hehe, I know what you mean. This was my situation this afternoon (just look at it). The city got swarmed by barbarians and there was no clearing for me to attack them in. Eventually they did attack my city which netted me a Combat I, Shock warrior. After that it was easier to defeat them. I got...

    The new Stacks of Doom

Heh, since I installed patch i I've been getting owned and owned. For one, it teaches me that this game isn't Sim City. My games pretty much go like this: explore area, expand somewhat intelligently, then at 10 units or so I start to have to lower my science% to pay for all that. Either I...

Question about working out unit strength with promotions, affinities, and resistances

If the maluses are cumulative, does that mean that a malus total of >= 100 always auto-defeats the other unit? Suppose I attack a Demonic Champion that is defending a city with a unit that has Shock, Demon Slaying and City Raider (malus 110%), or even a City Raider III unit (malus 110%). The...

Question about working out unit strength with promotions, affinities, and resistances

Thanks again! I'll have to rethink my views on promotions entirely now... one last question: how do I check which promotions apply a bonus and which apply a malus?

Question about working out unit strength with promotions, affinities, and resistances

Ah, I missed that part where you said percentages are added together, not multiplied. That means my calculation was wrong and should be the following: Crusader (6:strength:, +1 holy, demon slaying I) 6 * 1.4 + 1 * (1.4 + .25) = 10.05:strength:
