To buy or not to buy?

Hi all, Most of the people reading this thread would have probably played this game for months and I think the game has been patched a couple of times already (with a patch just around the corner too) ... I've played Alpha Centauri, Civ 3, Civ 4 and Civ 4 BTS, and would have picked this game...

    Unofficial BTS 3.13 patch

In recognition of your effort towards Civ IV, i specially borrowed Season 4 of the X-Files and, along with the rest of the episodes, watched the episode with the CSM quote in your sig :D Ahhh good times. :king:

    Late-game Wonders

Also, the space elevator can only be built at " a maximum of 30 degrees latitude " ... Is that some real-life information tidbit, or does this impact the game in any way? Based on the limited geographical foundation I have, 30 degrees isn't too far away from the Equator (0 latitude), is it?

    Things you never build...

Explorers... it's unrealistic to think they'll still be goody huts by the time you reach this tech. I don't build bunkers as well.

    Late-game Wonders

I'm hoping the next patch (if there's one) will fix the viability of The Space Evelator. Shouldn't this wonder be accessible around the same time Laboratories are available? What's the point of finishing a wonder which boosts spaceship production by 50% when nearly all your parts are complete...

    Duh!

" Thank you " posts are not allowed in General Discussion? Geez lighten up already. Feel free to leave civfanatics and create your own forum with their own ridiculous rules.

leaders you can't go wrong with

Huyana Capac and Willem van Oranje for me ... HC - I'm a builder by heart, and Financial is more than just icing on the cake. Williem - Dykes! They're imbalanced!

    Out of the Loop

Just skip warlords and buy BTS - you're not missing out on any warlords features, just a few scenarios that you probably won't play anyway since BTS is so kick ass ;) Furthermore, you don't need warlords to run BTS, just vanilla civ 4 required.

    FfH 2 Manual

    1. I absolutely love clickable links, please don't take them away. 2. Yes, more information about guilds : How to obtain them, their pros/cons, possibly synergies too perhaps? 3. I think this would be really useful to the starting player. But even the starting FFH player would have played...

    Rat catcher guild

I would also like to know what exactly is Aeron's bounty is about. After spending gold to spread it to all my cities, I have yet to see an Aeron's bounty related event 300 later. Why can't all guilds be like the mercenary guild where it can be evoked when needed, as opposed to hoping a guild...

Great ideas here wow. Just a plea to Kael : We need more events to make the 1st 100 turns a tad more interesting :/

    What's wrong with the Wiki?

Are there ways to reduce the Armageddon counter besides Sanctify (which hardly makes a difference ) and building certain wonders? Or is it intended for good/neutral civs to end the game before AC reaches 100?

    Beginner tips?

Very good summary of tips Shatner, thanks! In particular, I'd like to point out that the online civlopedia is immensely helpful when it comes to deciding which mana node do you really want. http://phrasr.com/ffh/pedia.php

Elohim world effect (one time special)

That's from the perspective of a non-sidar civ viewing a Sidar... I was sidar and each time my borders expanded I had to strain my eyes (literally) to see where my border boundaries lie now and if I had any acquisition of new resources. In a sense it's more unnecessary micro-management to the...
