How do you know you are too far behind to win?

Autocracy Alexander on a different continent flipping all your CS with Gunboat Diplomacy and coups. Fun times.

    Best domination strategy?

Work towards getting a tech lead in ranged combat (artillery, air). Locate a good coastal city you can take fast (ranged sea units, carriers), fill the place with ranged units and prepare for the eventual trickle of enemy units. If you can't, conquer your continent, go full science and win by...

CV seems to tedious to compete

Tedious is knowing you already won DV but you still gotta take the other half of the world, including the single tile island cities the AI loves to spam.

    The Real World

I think the US won Culture Victory since there's a lot of people outside the US wearing their blue jeans, eating their food and listening to their music.

    no love for Egypt?

    - 20% WW doesn't really scale that well with difficulty. You'll still lose those early WW, get the key WW in the middle game if you focused and if you played your science game well, you'll get any late game WW you want. - Chariots promotions are lost once they turn melee and they're not like...

    I mean... Seriously?!

Nah there's barely anything worth it down south. And it wasn't really the misfortune (not really) of spawning near Genghis, but mostly he getting 5 salts + other stuff that he'll get first dibs before I pull out my first settler while I have to work with one cattle, one gold and sugar.

    I mean... Seriously?!

I can't help myself but clench my fist in anger when things like this happen...

    My Strategy Playing As Portugal

    - Remove all the Ancient/Classical WW from your build. Except maybe Oracle if you can fit it and Pyramids. - Take it from there.

Which victory conditions do you disable in BWN?

I don't disable any and aim for Domination. That way if I'm winning, get bored but don't want to quit the game outright I can do DV or SV.

Any game is winnable they said...

What are you guys talking about, did you even bother loading the save? T79, he ain't even moving his troops, we're friendly, DoF, he's sending me trade routes and I got his settler blocked. Next up I'll grab Optics just so I can explore the other side.

Any game is winnable they said...

I'm not really a Deity player, I'm still trying to win all my Immortal games but here's what I did: - DoW on Rome, stole Antium's worker. - Scout > Monument > Granary > Shrine > Settler at pop4 > Caravan on the way - Didn't realize you had selected Animal Husbandry. So... AH > Pottery. So...

The small things that give you an edge.

Early aggression. Specially on high difficulty, where they start with bonus units. Even if you're planning to go peaceful. Goes as follows: I spot a neighbor close enough to my capital that makes peaceful settling risky because they'll take the good spots. First thing, DoW with your warrior and...

What conditions make you go to war?

I have had almost all the horses near me taken by CS a couple of times. CS are like flies sometimes, they're attracted to natural wonders and horses it seems. Oh also, it's not so much that I hate warlike civs. The ones I hate are the ones that ask for a DoF, is sharing borders with another...

Started off with Tradition, did some conquering. How useful is representation to me?

Maybe if you play Poland, you didn't get a religion and there're CS bullies out there you don't want to mess with? You could still pick some Honor or Mercantilism if you're at Medieval. I found Commerce good if you want to keep your trade routes domestic.

What conditions make you go to war?

    - Their leader's name is Suleiman. - Their leader's name is Gustavus Adolphus.

Was it worth it to you?

I haven't played Col1, so what? Anyway, I found the game to be much of a one-trick poney. Once you get how to beat the game, it pretty much doesn't matter the difficulty settings. I'm doing 169X on Patriot and I think I'm too bored to go on Revolutionary at least till they release some patch...

How to remove a citizen from a settlement?

He turns into a Colonist (Expert Lumberjack).

Did I miss something in this game?

Don't build cities for ore, tools, horses or guns. Buy those from Europe. You need too many, you make them too slow and you'll spend too much valuable time making the armories/magazines/stables/etc. to make them worth it. You don't need tools for buildings: buy them at the last turn. Build...

    Overseas Expansion (or war)

My priority would be Zara, since he's probably going to be your rival. Once you own the whole continent you can just cottage spam and aim for Space Victory. The cities on your own continent make a better investment.

Cost/Benefit of Founding a Religion at Monarch

I usually do this with Mysticism civs, specially Ghandi's India: - Worker techs first. - After BW and AH (or Archery if nothing pops), Pottery. - Meditation -> Priesthood - Chop Oracle while researching Writing. CoL, you found Confucianism. Spread. - Oracle gives Prophet, builds Shrine. But I...
