Rush buying on a desolate planet

Does anyone else hope rush buying with gold/energy/credits/c-bills/whatever will be either limited like in civ 4 or banned outright? You land on the planet and need to survive. Who are you paying to rush build items? The concept of a private industry to pay to build items is silly in the...

Anyone Else Disappointed?: Civilization: Beyond Earth

Not disappointed at all, in fact very excited. I've been playing 4x's since the original Civilization. Civ II was so much better than Civilization. I remember being excited about the addition of culture in Civ III. I loved Alpha Centauri for introducing social policies. I liked the Call to...

    [Religion and Revolution]: Mod Development

I have recently got back into Colonization and am really looking forward to a release of this mod. Keep up the good work :)

    Looking for a map script(not a scenario)

Download the BAT mod, it doesn't change the base game but adds a lot of useful information, civilization unique graphics (ie English warriors and Japanese warriors look different, still same stats) and lastly it seems to come with the Planet_Generator map script which gives many (many many)...

    Civilization 5 Rants Thread

I totally agree with the hype thing, and recognise that I do have it still. Diablo 3 and Conquest of Elysium 3, both I'll be purchasing on the day of release. I don't rely on reviews anymore (although I do like the "Out of Eight" review site) and prefer to watch the forums after release to see...

    Civilization 5 Rants Thread

I'm one of the "older gamers", started with Civilization on the Amiga 500 and have never looked back, until now. Even played Civilization 2 on the Playstation when I didn't have a proper computer, it was hilarious having half the map unoccupied due to the map city limit reached. The series...

    Civilization 5 Rants Thread

I want Civ V to be good, I paid $80 for it on release. It looks nice and promises much but isn't delivering.... And there will probably be no expansion pack to improve things as they chose DLC crap instead!!!! And game review sites, magazines and shows gave it always +80%!!! Often +90%...

    Listening to Polycast 129...

Yes but for nations that are not enemies it is better to be pushing towards friendlier ties for trade (both for economic and technology reasons) and lowering the risk of future disputes turning relations to war. Because this is a game with only one winner there is no incentive to trade and be...

    Listening to Polycast 129...

Because its not actually on the Polycast itself but I had hoped for a general discussion on where to take the game. Real life diplomacy does not assume an end game situation but rather a continuation of life and thus sharing and caring is a "good thing". In the Civ series, to differing degree's...

    Listening to Polycast 129...

Just listening to episode 129 of Polycast, the opening discussion on is Civ V worth playing I had a thought on improving the AI's (at a global level) and the game. It was said that the AI's DOW the player often, even if there has been a history of "peacefulness". Combine this with there being...

    Is it a bug?

Probably not a bug so much as how the programmers modeled the ai and spaceships, they just get them without having to build them. This style of ai is not uncommon in earlier games.

    Thinking of getting Civ5...

Buy the Civ IV complete pack first. Civ IV gameplaywise is the superior game, sure there are still stacks-of-doom but they are not too bad and speed up the game compared with 1 unit per tile. Civ IV has many awesome mods that effectively are complete games in themselves, Fall from Heaven, Rise...

Jon Shafer joins Stardock to work on elemental

BTS did some things, things that were unknown to either myself or others. Civ V transformed two things into one thing. That one thing now looks to be expanded upon in multiple ways. I think the future is bright.

DOWNLOADABLE CONTENT - have new techs & Wonders? (esp. Technological Singularity?)

Techs and wonders as DLC..... How can I describe the gut wrenching nausea I would feel if this were true? To see whats available as DLC load up steam (or go to the steam webpage) and search for civilization 5

Let it begin, Civ 6 DISCUSSION

Its not provinces like in a total war game, its more like what are called cities now are called provinces and their cultural boundries are larger, not fixed to be a certain shape (so you could have a long snaking one unlike in any other civ game) and within each province smaller cities spawn...

Let it begin, Civ 6 DISCUSSION

No, I think civ V is a step backwards but the franchise can continue. The next step is to move away from cities and to provinces, each with a capital that is the central hub but the shape of the state can be any shape, not like the sharply defined cities so far. Each province is a little like...

    Where are ciV competitors?

I agree, Dominions 3 has given me heaps of hours of gaming. Check out these AAR's: http://forums.somethingawful.com/sho...0&pagenumber=1 http://forums.somethingawful.com/sho...0&pagenumber=1
